Probing Z' gauge boson with the spin configuration of top quark pair production at future ee+e^- e^+ linear colliders

    Get PDF
We explore the effects of extra neutral gauge boson involved in the supersymmetric E6 model on the spin configuration of the top quark pair produced at the polarized e- e+ collider. Generic mixing terms are considered including kinetic mixing terms as well as mass mixing. In the off-diagonal spin basis of the standard model, we show that the cross sections for the suppressed spin configurations can be enhanced with the effects of the Z' boson through the modification of the spin configuration of produced top quark pair enough to be measured in the Linear Colliders, which provides the way to observe the effects of Z' boson and discriminate the pattern of gauge group decomposition. It is pointed out that the kinetic mixing may dilute the effects of mass mixing terms, and we have to perform the combined analysis.Comment: 19 pages including 5 figures, ReVTe

Transverse Polarization of Top Quarks Produced at a Photon-Photon Collider

At future γγ\gamma \gamma colliders copious production of ttˉt \bar{t} pairs is possible. This would allow a detailed investigation of the interactions involving the top quark. We propose some orrelations which are sensitive to ttˉt \bar{t} final state interactions and we compute the QCD and standard model Higgs boson contributions to these correlations. QCD induced transverse polarization of top quarks is found to be sizeable and measurable at a high-energy e+ee^+e^- collider with an integrated luminosity of 10 (fb)1({\rm fb})^{-1} which is converted into a photon collider by backscattering of laser photons.Comment: 8 pages. QCD corrections to decay-lepton polar and azimuthal angular distributions in e+e- -> t tbar in the soft-gluon approximation

    Get PDF
QCD corrections to order alpha_s in the soft-gluon approximation to angular distributions of decay charged leptons in the process e+e- -> t tbar followed by semileptonic decay of t or tbar, are obtained in the e+e- centre-of-mass frame. As compared to distributions in the top rest frame, these have the advantage that they would allow direct comparison with experiment without the need to reconstruct the top rest frame. The results also do not depend on the choice of a spin quantization axis for t or tbar. Analytic expression for the triple distribution in the polar angle of t and polar and azimuthal angles of the lepton is obtained. Analytic expression is also derived for the distribution in the charged-lepton polar angle. Numerical values are discussed for total c.m. energies of 400 GeV, 800 GeV and 1500 GeV.Comment: 21 pages, Latex, 6 figures included in the submission. Optimal Spin Basis in Polarized Photon Linear Colliders

    Get PDF
We analyze the spin correlations of the top quark pairs produced at Photon Linear Colliders. We employ the circular polarized photon beams and general spin basis for the top quark pair. We consider general spin bases to find a strong spin correlation between produced top quark and anti-top quark. We show the cross-section in these bases and discuss the characteristics of results.Comment: RevTeX, 16 pages, 6 figures, psfig.sty and here.sty are require

QCD Corrections to Spin Correlations in Top Quark Production at Lepton Colliders

    Get PDF
Spin correlations, using a generic spin basis, are investigated to leading order in QCD for top quark production at lepton colliders. Even though, these radiative corrections induce an anomalous gamma/Z magnetic moment for the top quarks and allow for single, real gluon emission, their effects on the top quark spin orientation are very small. The final results are that the top (or anti-top) quarks are produced in an essentially unique spin configuration in polarized lepton collisions even after including the O(alpha_{s}) QCD corrections.Comment: 32 pages, REVTeX, 13 Postscript figures, psfig.sty and here.sty are required. Probing Top-Quark Couplings at Polarized NLC

    Get PDF
The energy spectrum of the lepton(s) in e^+e^- --> tt-bar --> l^{+-} ...../l^+l^-..... at next linear colliders (NLC) is studied for arbitrary longitudinal beam polarizations as a possible test of new physics in top-quark couplings. The most general non-standard couplings for gamma-tt-bar, Ztt-bar and Wtb vertices are considered. Expected precision of the non-standard-parameter determination is estimated applying the optimal-observable procedure.Comment: Final version, To appear in Phys. Rev.

Polarized Single Top Production at Leptonic Colliders from Broken R Parity Interactions Incorporating CP Violation

    Get PDF
The contribution from the R parity violating interactions in the associated production of a top quark with a charm antiquark is examined for high energy leptonic colliders. We concentrate on the reactions associated with the semileptonic top decay. A set of characteristic dynamical distributions for the signal events is evaluated and the results contrasted against those from the standard model W-boson pair production background. Next, we turn to a study of a CP-odd observable, associated with the top spin, which leads to an asymmetry in the energy distribution of the emitted charged leptons for the pair of CP-conjugate final states, blˉνcˉb \bar l \nu \bar c and bˉlνˉc \bar b l \bar \nu c . A non vanishing asymmetry arises from a CP-odd phase, embedded in the R parity violating coupling constants, through interference terms between the R parity violating amplitudes at both the tree and loop levels.Comment: revtex file. 17 pages. 7 postscript figures. 1 table. New anomalous trajectory in Regge theory

    Get PDF
We show that a new Regge trajectory with \alpha_{f_1} (0) \approx 1 and slope \alpha_{f_1}'(0) \approx 0 explains the features of hadron-hadron scattering and photoproduction of the rho and phi mesons at large energy and momentum transfer. This trajectory with quantum numbers P = C = +1 and odd signature can be considered as a natural partner of the Pomeron which has even signature. The odd signature of the new exchange leads to contributions to the spin-dependent cross sections, which do not vanish at large energy. The links between the anomalous properties of this trajectory, the axial anomaly and the flavor singlet axial vector f_1 (1285) meson are discussed.Comment: 20 pages, REVTeX, 8 figures (9 eps files), version to appear in Phys. Leptogenesis in Theories with Large Extra Dimensions

    Get PDF
We study the scenario of baryogenesis through leptogenesis in higher-dimensional theories, in which the scale of quantum gravity is many orders of magnitude smaller than the usual Planck mass. The minimal realization of these theories includes an isosinglet neutrino which feels the presence of large compact dimensions, whereas all the SM particles are localized on a (1+3)(1+3)-dimensional subspace. In the formulation of minimal leptogenesis models, we pay particular attention to the existence of Majorana spinors in higher dimensions. After compactification of the extra dimensions, we obtain a tower of Majorana Kaluza-Klein excitations which act as an infinite series of CP-violating resonators, and derive the necessary conditions for their constructive interference. Based on this CP-violating mechanism, we find that the decays of the heavy Majorana excitations can produce a leptonic asymmetry which is reprocessed into the observed baryonic asymmetry of the Universe by means of out-of-equilibrium sphaleron interactions, provided the reheat temperature is above 5 GeV.Comment: 34 pages, minor rewordings, to appear in Physical Review
