Risk management of commercial banks in Kosovo

Purpose: This research elaborated on the management of the activity of banks operating in Kosovo. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study provided for the secondary service by reporting goals for the four largest banks in Kosovo. Findings: Problems of commercial banks of Kosovo in managing risks for establishing concepts for managing the activity, defects of the activity management system and backwardness of the research and method of managing the activity. Practical Implications: With the continued development of the financial sector, commercial banks in Kosovo have formed a series of strict risk management systems, while the risk management of commercial banks in Kosovo is still in its infancy. As Kosovo's financial industry is opening up to the outside world, Kosovo's banking industry faces increasingly fierce competition and the risks are also more complex. In this case, understanding the level of risk management of commercial banks in Kosovo and improving the level of risk management is a necessary topic. Originality/Value: The results of the study realize a series of meaningful suggestions are put forward and help to improve the risk management level and control the risks effectively.peer-reviewe

The Impact of COVID–19 on Albanian Tourism

Objectives: Nowadays, tourism continues to represent the most dynamic and open part of the countries’ economic system. This research paper explores tourism in Albania over the years, with particular focus on the development of tourism during the pandemic situation, mainly the number of entrances and exits of visitors to the country compared to the years before. Methods/Analysis: This study will take into consideration the secondary data provided by the World Travel and Tourism Council and INSTAT Albania focused on 2020 as the pandemic year, compared to the previous years by investigating the movements of visitors in Albania, their origins, and the ways of travel through seaports, air, or land. The travel purposes of Albanian visitors are different, but this research will focus only on those purposes for holidays during the summer season. The data will be presented through the percentage of a frequency distribution at each entrance and exit point, in some cases explained by tables and graphs, comparing the months in the peak summertime. Findings: Statistical analyses represented in this research give a clear picture of developing tourism in Albania during the pandemic year, mostly tourists from Kosovo. Loans make up the bulk of a bank’s assets, and thus credit risk is the most significant risk for commercial banks in Kosovo and throughout the world. Despite its complexity, effective management of credit risk is a prerequisite for the success of a bank and the banking system in general. A special role in this aspect is played by the separation of reserves to cover the risk of failure to repay the loan or in cases of non-fulfilment of contractual obligations by the loan recipient.
