Estimation of Nursing Staff in Selected Hospitals of Ilam and Ahvaz Provinces, Western Iran
Background: The nurses as the largest group among different groups of hospital workforce play a crucial role in success of the hospital activities and promotion of community health.
Objectives: This study aimed to obtain an estimation of the necessary nursing workforce status in educational hospitals affiliated to Ilam and Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences based on the scientific formula.
Materials and Methods: This research was a cross sectional-descriptive study, which was done in hospitals affiliated to Ilam and Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences during 2010. Using three researcher-made forms, data was collected from all clinical, para-clinical, financial, administrative and support departments of hospitals. Data was analyzed in accordance to the standards of Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education using the Excel software.
Results: The results showed that the nursing staffs in the 42 wards (89.5 %) were lower than the standards, only one ward (2 %) matched the standards and the rest of the wards (8.5%) were higher than the standards. The organizational dislocation (utilization of nurses in non-related jobs) of nursing staffs obtained for Imam Khomeini of Ilam, Mostafa Khomeini, Taleghani, Razi and Imam Khomeini of Ahvaz Hospitals were 8, 5, 3, 8 and 21, respectively.
Conclusion: Generally, the studied hospitals were faced with a lack of nursing manpower and distribution of manpower was not appropriate. Proper planning and management of manpower in accordance with the lack of personnel, compensates and achieves the standards required for hospital’s nursing manpower and this would lead to an increase in the efficiency of hospitals activities and can provide satisfaction for the nursing staff
Hubble Tarantula Treasury Project. III. Photometric Catalog and Resulting Constraints on the Progression of Star Formation in the 30 Doradus Region
We present and describe the astro-photometric catalog of more than 800,000
sources found in the Hubble Tarantula Treasury Project (HTTP). HTTP is a Hubble
Space Telescope (HST) Treasury program designed to image the entire 30 Doradus
region down to the sub-solar (~0.5 solar masses) mass regime using the Wide
Field Camera 3 (WFC3) and the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS). We observed 30
Doradus in the near ultraviolet (F275W, F336W), optical (F555W, F658N, F775W),
and near infrared (F110W, F160W) wavelengths. The stellar photometry was
measured using point-spread function (PSF) fitting across all the bands
simultaneously. The relative astrometric accuracy of the catalog is 0.4 mas.
The astro-photometric catalog, results from artificial star experiments and the
mosaics for all the filters are available for download. Color-magnitude
diagrams are presented showing the spatial distributions and ages of stars
within 30 Dor as well as in the surrounding fields. HTTP provides the first
rich and statistically significant sample of intermediate and low mass pre-main
sequence candidates and allows us to trace how star formation has been
developing through the region. The depth and high spatial resolution of our
analysis highlight the dual role of stellar feedback in quenching and
triggering star formation on the giant HII region scale. Our results are
consistent with stellar sub-clustering in a partially filled gaseous nebula

Fully-integrated solid shunt planar transformer for LLC resonant converters
A new topology for achieving high leakage inductance in inserted-shunt integrated magnetic planar transformers is proposed. In the proposed topology, two one-segment shunts are placed across the planar E-core air gap and between the primary and secondary windings. The proposed topology benefits using solid inexpensive ferrite shunts, making manufacturing easier. A detailed mathematical model is derived from which a design methodology is developed, providing accurate estimation for the leakage and magnetising inductances. The theoretical analysis has been verified using finite-element analysis and experimental implementation. AC resistance analysis and efficiency comparison are also presented for the proposed topology and a recent topology with inserted-segmental-shunt, which shows the proposed topology provides higher efficiency because of lower AC resistance. In addition, an isolated LLC resonant converter is designed and built to investigate the performance of the proposed topology in practice. The three magnetic components needed for the designed LLC resonant converter is integrated in a single planar transformer using the proposed topology and the converter operates properly
Nutritional Risk Factors for Tuberculosis Among Adults in the United States, 1971–1992
The risk of developing tuberculosis (TB) may be related to nutritional status. To determine the impact of nutritional status on TB incidence, the authors analyzed data from the First National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES I) Epidemiologic Follow-up Study (NHEFS). NHANES I collected information on a probability sample of the US population in 1971–1975. Adults were followed up in 1982–1992. Incident TB cases were ascertained through interviews, medical records, and death certificates. TB incidences were compared across different levels of nutritional status after controlling for potential confounding using proportional hazards regression appropriate to the complex sample design. TB incidence among adults with normal body mass index was 24.7 per 100,000 person-years (95% confidence interval (CI): 13.0, 36.3). In contrast, among persons who were underweight, overweight, and obese, estimated TB incidence rates were 260.2 (95% CI: 98.6, 421.8), 8.9 (95% CI: 2.2, 15.6), and 5.1 (95% CI: 0.0, 10.5) per 100,000 person-years, respectively. Adjusted hazard ratios were 12.43 (95% CI: 5.75, 26.95), 0.28 (95% CI: 0.13, 0.63), and 0.20 (95% CI: 0.07, 0.62), respectively, after controlling for demographic, socioeconomic, and medical characteristics. A low serum albumin level also increased the risk of TB, but low vitamin A, thiamine, riboflavin, and iron status did not.
