The impact of school policy and stakeholders' actions on student learning: A longitudinal study
This paper proposes and validates a theoretical framework on how school policy can promote student learning. School policy is considered to have an indirect effect on student achievement by changing school stakeholders’ actions toward improving the School Learning Environment (SLE) and teaching practice. A reciprocal relationship between school policy and stakeholders’ actions is also considered. A longitudinal study was conducted to test the framework’s main assumptions. A stratified sample of 64 primary schools was selected and students’ achievement in Mathematics at the beginning of Grade 4 and at the end of the next three consecutive school years was measured, alongside the school policy and teachers’ actions with regards to issues associated with teaching and the SLE. The results of Multilevel structural equation modelling analyses supported the main assumptions of the framework. Implications for the development of school policy are drawn and suggestions for further research are provided.This is the author accepted manuscript. Soliton in Gravitating Gas. Hoag's Object
We explore the possibility of creating of solitons in gravitating gas. It is
shown that the virial arguments does not put an obstacle for the existence of
localized static solutions. The simplest toroidal soliton of gravitating gas

Cyber insurance of information systems: Security and privacy cyber insurance contracts for ICT and helathcare organizations
Nowadays, more-and-more aspects of our daily activities are digitalized. Data and assets in the cyber-space, both for individuals and organizations, must be safeguarded. Thus, the insurance sector must face the challenge of digital transformation in the 5G era with the right set of tools. In this paper, we present CyberSure-an insurance framework for information systems. CyberSure investigates the interplay between certification, risk management, and insurance of cyber processes. It promotes continuous monitoring as the new building block for cyber insurance in order to overcome the current obstacles of identifying in real-time contractual violations by the insured party and receiving early warning notifications prior the violation. Lightweight monitoring modules capture the status of the operating components and send data to the CyberSure backend system which performs the core decision making. Therefore, an insured system is certified dynamically, with the risk and insurance perspectives being evaluated at runtime as the system operation evolves. As new data become available, the risk management and the insurance policies are adjusted and fine-tuned. When an incident occurs, the insurance company possesses adequate information to assess the situation fast, estimate accurately the level of a potential loss, and decrease the required period for compensating the insured customer. The framework is applied in the ICT and healthcare domains, assessing the system of medium-size organizations. Criticality, Fractality and Intermittency in Strong Interactions
Assuming a second-order phase transition for the hadronization process, we
attempt to associate intermittency patterns in high-energy hadronic collisions
to fractal structures in configuration space and corresponding intermittency
indices to the isothermal critical exponent at the transition temperature. In
this approach, the most general multidimensional intermittency pattern,
associated to a second-order phase transition of the strongly interacting
system, is determined, and its relevance to present and future experiments is

ALE Defeasible Description Logic
One of Semantic Web strengths is the ability to address incomplete knowledge. However, at present, it cannot handle incomplete knowledge directly. Also, it cannot handle non-monotonic reasoning. In this paper, we extend ALE Defeasible Description Logic with existential quantifier, i.e., ALE Defeasible Description Logic. Also, we modify some parts of the logic, resulting in an increasing efficiency in its reasoning
Optical spectroscopy of 20 Be/X-ray Binaries in the Small Magellanic Cloud
We present a large sample (20 in total) of optical spectra of Small
Magellanic Cloud (SMC) High-Mass X-ray Binaries obtained with the 2dF
spectrograph at the Anglo-Australian Telescope. All of these sources are found
to be Be/X-ray binaries (Be-XRBs), while for 5 sources we present original
classifications. Several statistical tests on this expanded sample support
previous findings for similar spectral-type distributions of Be-XRBs and Be
field stars in the SMC, and of Be-XRBs in the Large Magellanic Cloud and the
Milky Way, although this could be the result of small samples. On the other
hand, we find that Be-XRBs follow a different distribution than Be stars in the
Galaxy, also in agreement with previous studies. In addition, we find similar
Be spectral type distributions between the Magellanic Clouds samples. These
results reinforce the relation between the orbital period and the equivalent
width of the Halpha line that holds for Be-XRBs. SMC Be stars have larger
Halpha equivalent widths when compared to Be-XRBs, supporting the notion of
