The title cyclopropane derivative, C18H12O3S3, was synthesized and its structure investigated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and spectroscopic methods. This structure analysis addresses the problem of spontaneously resolved helical stereoisomerism. Unexpected reversal of the enantioselectivity using chiral quinolylmethyl- and acridininyloxazokines as ligands for asymmetric palladium-catalyzed allylic alkylation

New chiral quinolylmethyloxazolines and acridininyloxazolines were prepared and assessed in the enantioselective palladium-catalyzed allylic substitution of 1,3-diphenylprop-2-enyl acetate with dimethyl malonate. The introduction of a benzo-fused substituent on the pyridine ring not containing the chiral backbone resulted in the switch of the expected chiral sense of enantioselection of the reaction. Biofouling variations were studied in a fish farming facility near Alghero (Italy) between November 2007 and November 2008. Net panels suitable for the settlement of encrusting organisms were immersed in cages in which large and small gilthead seabream specimens were reared. Significant differences in biofouling biomass and coverage were observed between cages containing fish and controls. Sediment characteristics and Cd, Cu, Mn, Pb and Zn concentrations were assessed in the lagoons of Marceddì, Calich and Porto Pozzo, and in the inner part of the Gulf of Olbia. Sediment of the zones examined were quite similar, except for the Calich lagoon that showed the higher content of total organic carbon. High values of Cd, Pb and Zn were detected in the sediments of the Marceddì lagoon, while remarkable levels of Cu and Mn were found in the Calich lagoon and in the Gulf of Olbia

A tal fine è stato da noi recentemente utilizzato un protocollo basato sulla sequenza tandem: metallo-carbenoide /ilide d’ammonio spirociclica/shift[1,2] di Stevens con ampliamento d’anello. Syncope with Surprise: An Unexpected Finding of Huge Gastric Diverticulum

A gastric diverticulum is a pouch protruding from the gastric wall. e vague long clinical history ranging between dyspepsia, postprandial fullness, and upper gastrointestinal bleeding makes this condition a diagnostic challenge. We present a case of large gastric diverticulum that has been diagnosed during clinical investigations for suspected cardiovascular issues in a patient admitted at the medical ward for syncope. A 51-year-old man presented to the medical department due to a syncopal episode occurring while he was resting on the beach a er having his lunch, with concomitant vague epimesogastric gravative pain without any other symptom. A diagnosis of neuromediated syncopal episode was made by the cardiologist. Due to the referred epimesogastric pain, an abdominal ultrasound scan was carried out, showing perisplenic uid. A CT scan of the abdomen was performed to exclude splenic lesions. e CT scan revealed a large diverticulum protruding from the gastric fundus. e upper gastrointestinal endoscopy visualized a large diverticular neck situated in the posterior wall of the gastric fundus, partially lled by undigested food. e patient underwent surgery, with an uneventful postoperative course. Histologic examination showed a full-thickness stomach specimen, indicative of a congenital diverticulum. At the 2nd month of follow-up, the patient was asymptomatic

Variazioni spazio-temporali della fauna ittica nelle pozze di scogliera del litorale di Budoni (Sardegna Nord Orientale) = Spatio-temporal variations of ichthyofauna in the tidal rockpools from the Coast of Budoni (North Eastern Sardinia)

Fish fauna of tidal pools was investigated in a coastal district of Sardinia (central western Mediterranean) between October 2007 and October 2008. Overall, 206 specimens from 7 species belonging to 5 families were recorded in two groups of tidal pools with a different coastal exposure. Significant differences in the number of individuals were detected for tidal pools differently exposed, while number of species, number of individuals, and biomass were significantly different among the sampling periods
