    Non-Linear Electromechanical System Dynamics

    Electromechanical systems dynamics analysis is approached through nonlinear differential equations and further creating a state space model for the system. There are three modules analyzed and validated, first module consists two magnet coupled with a mass spring damper system as a band-pass system, Low-pass equivalent system and Low-pass equivalent system through perturbation analysis. Initially Band Pass frameworks for the systems are formulated considering the relation between the mechanical forcing and current. Using Mathematical tools such as Hilbert transforms, Low-Pass equivalent of the systems are derived. The state equations of the systems are then used to design a working model in MATLAB and simulations investigated completely. The scope of the modules discussed for further development of tools various applications

    3D Shape Reconstruction from Multiple Range Image Views

    Shape reconstruction of different three dimensional objects using multiple range images has evolved recently within the recent past. In this research shape reconstruction of a three dimensional object using multiple range image views is investigated. Range images were captured using the Waikato Range Imager. This range images camera is novel in that it uses heterodyne imaging and is capable of acquiring range images with precision less than a millimeter simultaneously over a full field. Multiple views of small objects were taken and the FastRBF was explored as a mean of registration and surface rendering. For comparison to the real range data, simulated range data under noise free condition were also generated and reconstructed with the FastRBF tool box. The registration and reconstruction of simple object was performed using different views with the FastRBF toolbox. Analysis of the registration process showed that the translation error produced due to distortion during registration of different views hinders the process of reconstructing a complete surface. While analyzing the shape reconstruction using the FastRBF tool it is also determined that a small change in accuracy values can affect the interpolation drastically.     Expression, production and purification of proteinases from microbes

    Screening and expression of protease producing 66 strains of different microbes were obtained from the various places in Chennai, Vellore, Tamilnadu, India. The isolates were positive on tyrosin caesin nitrate agar (1%) and thus are selected as protease producing strain. 11 of them belong to miscellaneous microbes. The microbial growth is revealed by the mycelial dry weight determination. Maximum growth is observed in the case of Bacillus (0.78 mg). Equally, the maximum growth is observed in Aspergillus sp. (0.064 mg), Fusarium sp. (0.62 mg) and Penicillium sp. (0.62 mg). Finally the enzyme protease was purified by column chromatography. The protein was characterized using SDS-PAGE. Maximum protein content is observed in the case of Alternaria sp. (0.902mg) and Penicillium sp. (0.624 mg). Maximum proteinase content is observed in Aspergillus sp. (0.866mg). This results showed that microbes under study is a good producer of extra cellular protease, which can be beneficial for industries.Keywords: Expression; production; purification; proteinase

    Lamenting songs are one of the genres in Tamil literature. Music is intertwined in the life of the village people. Lamennting songs are sung to express the feeling of sorrow that arises in one's heart when a mother, father, husband, child, sibling or relative dies. People who do not know about the history of the dead people they can learn about the dead person’s history through those songs. A musical instrument known as Roar is played in death house. The sound of roar announces the death news in society. The same custom is seen in the streets. The street songs are intertwined with the roar music. This article brings out the hidden lamenting songs of street artists. In addition, we see that the relationship between the artists and the context of the story is revealed through comparison. Also, dictionary description of lamenting, lamenting in literature, structure of street songs is described in this article

    Effect of Visual Skill Fitness Training Programme on Selected Psychomotor Variables of Male Volleyball Players

    To achieve this purpose, 30 Volleyball players were selected randomly as subjects for this present study. The subjects selected (N=30), were assigned randomly into two groups namely experimental group-1and control group, consisting of 15 each. Thus they were named experimental group-1 as Visual Skills Fitness Training Group (VSFTG), and Control Group (CG). Their age was fixed in the range of 19 – 24 years. VSFTG underwent visual skill fitness training programme for two days a week for about twelve weeks. Subjects in the control group were not engaged in any activity. Before and after the training period data will be taken to all the subjects. The collected data were processed with Paired t-test was used. The obtained result was tested at 0.05 level of significance. The results of the study show that experimental group shows better improvement on selected psychomotor variables when compared to control group

    Video gaming is the new social currency among youth. Youths have begun to exhibit addictive characteristics of videogaming affecting different facet of life during Covid-19 Pandemic lockdown. Mixed methodology and purposive sampling, snowball sampling technique was used for comprehensive interpretation. The Videogame addiction was assessed using the (7-item criterion)  Gaming Addiction Scale (GAS). Major findings include changes in daily habits, motives, experience lifestyle and career choices, changes in communication and socializing pattern, performance in education, work, Mental and physical health and understanding primary caretakers concern on youth. The suggestions, implications will be based on  social work practice for Individuals, parents and other stakeholders based on the findings

    Thrips-tospovirus interactions: biological and molecular implications

    The occurrence of thrips vectors in considerable numbers enables their functioning in a dual role as vectors and as direct crop pests. The resistance of thrips to pesticides has enabled quick transmission of viruses, the transient nature of their populations being essentially responsible for the infection. The feeding behaviour of thrips contributes in a large measure towards their ability to act as vectors, enabling leaf-to-leaf transmission of the tospoviruses. The specific association of the tospoviruses and thrips vectors, particularly relating to the molecular profiles, needs increasing scrutiny to come to proper conclusions. A better understanding of the nature of virus multiplication and the pathways leading to their entry into the salivary glands and the ability of the second instar larvae to inoculate plants need further inputs. The intraspecific diversity of thrips vectors as a result of population studies from various parts of the country, would further enable a better understanding of the ability of each species to transfer the virus, besides better appreciation of the chemical ecology of thrips-host-plant interaction, not to mention the relevance of serodiagnosis in detecting disease or health

    TRACKING THE ORGANOLEPTIC AND BIOCHEMICAL CHANGES IN THE AYURVEDIC POLYHERBAL AND NATIVE FERMENTED TRADITIONAL MEDICINES: BALARISHTA AND CHANDANASAVA

    Objective: Ayurvedic formulary contains fermented polyherbal medicines which includes Balarishta and Chandanasava. The changes occurring in the successive stages of fermentation of these medicines are least understood such as organoleptic and biochemical parameters.Methods: The samples were collected from a manufacturing unit. The sensory evalution of color, smell, touch and taste was carried out. Biochemical estimations, GC-MS analysis, estimation of aflatoxins and heavy metals were performed.Results: The native fermentation led to browning with herbal odouration and sour taste in both Balarishta and Chandanasava preparations. pH was drastically reduced to acidic in Balarishta when compared to Chandanasava. Total solids drastically reduced in Chandanasava than in Balarishta. In both medicament fermentations, total sugar gradually decreased with concomitant increase in ethanol. Formation of acetic acid, gradual decrease in aminoacid and starch contents signify the fermentation process. Both Balarishta and Chandanasava were devoid of methanol, aflatoxins and heavy metals like mercury, lead and cadmium.Conclusion: Preparation of Ayurvedic fermented medicines exemplified by Balarishta and Chandanasava are earmarked with major changes in organoleptic and biochemical parameters and are found safe by the absence of toxic components assessed.     Tobacco Usage among Males in Rural Tamil Nadu, India: A Cross-sectional Study

    Background: Knowing the prevalence of tobacco use and the socio-demographic profile of users might prove useful in further strengthening the information, education, communication and regulatory activities, thereby decreasing tobacco use. The objective was to study the prevalence and pattern of tobacco use among men aged 18 years and above in rural area of Tamil Nadu. Methods: A cross sectional study was performed among 714 males aged 18 years and above in Vadagarai village of Tamil Nadu during 2010 and interviewed with a pretested questionnaire. Systematic random sampling was used to select the participants. Results: Prevalence of smoking was found to be 36.7%. Cigarette smoking was more common than beedi and smokeless tobacco.Conclusion: Strict enforcement of anti-tobacco legislation and awareness measures targeting ill-effects of tobacco can be intensified to reduce tobacco related morbidity and mortality
