    Autonomous Learners’ Metacognitive Awareness Development with the Help of Trello Board

    [EN] This article focuses on the necessity and inevitability of organization of ESL students’ self-work with the help of free online platform Trello Board. The authors point out that the use of such information and communication technology as Trello Board increases learners’ metacognitive awareness of self-regulation and self-assessment in ESL. The authors also indicate the facilitation of active feedback between ESL learners and their instructor as well as peer-review. The authors share their experience of the use of Trello Board in the educational ecosystem of Bolashak Academy in Kazakhstan.     Participation in International Telecommunication Projects for Intercultural Communication and Creating an English Authentic Environment Development

    [EN] This article describes the experience of participation in one international telecommunication project My City and Me, conducted by the U.S. International Education and Resource Network (iEARN) that united 26,000 teachers, around 2,000,000 students from 140 countries for working on 3,000 projects in 30 different languages. The Project resulted in fostering ESL learner’ awareness of intercultural communication.     The advantages of using TED talks materials in ESL classrooms

    This article presents TED Talks materials to teach English in secondary and higher educational institutions. The authors describe such advantages of TED Talks materials as their authenticity, availability, variety, utility, user-friendly usability of the website with the materials, and the existence of scripts for each video. The authors prove that TED Talks materials are effective for developing students’ speaking skills and extending their vocabulary by describing the experience of conducting English classes using TED Talks materials during the professional-pedagogical practice, the results of which are also given in this article. After 34 English lessons with the use of TED Talks materials within the framework of the elective course «English for Academic Purposes» for 8-11 grade pupils,the participants of the classes demonstrated better public speaking skills and could speak on different topics for more than 10 minutes without any visual aids

    One of the most common diseases of our time is non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Recently published research results indicate that patients with NAFLD along with traditional risk factors for cardiovascular diseases (CVD) have "new" risk factors such as endothelial dysfunction (ED), carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT), an increase in the CRP level, as well as risk factors combined into the Framingham scale. It is also known that combination of NAFLD with subclinical hypothyroidism (SH) forms an abnormal metabolic phenotype, which is associated with cardiometabolic risk factors. The study of cardiometabolic predictors and vascular markers in patients with NAFLD in combination with SH will provide an opportunity to improve the strategy of cardiovascular events prevention in such comorbid patients.Niealkoholowe stłuszczenie wątroby (NAFLD) jest jedną z najczęstszych chorób naszych czasów. Ostatnio opublikowane wyniki badań sugerują, że pacjenci z NAFLD, wraz z tradycyjnymi czynnikami ryzyka chorób sercowo-naczyniowych (CVD), mają "nowe" czynniki ryzyka, takie jak dysfunkcja śródbłonka (ED), grubość błony wewnętrznej i środkowej tętnicy szyjnej (CIMT), podwyższony poziom CRP i czynniki ryzyka połączone w skali Framingham. Wiadomo również, że połączenie NAFLD z subkliniczną niedoczynnością tarczycy (SH) tworzy nieprawidłowy fenotyp metaboliczny związany z czynnikami ryzyka kardiometabolicznego. Badanie predyktorów kardiometabolicznych i markerów naczyniowych u pacjentów z NAFLD w połączeniu z SH pozwoli na ulepszenie strategii zapobiegania zdarzeniom sercowo-naczyniowym u takich współistniejących pacjentów

    AbstractThe study examines the necessity of a sustainable research network for transformative education, focusing on the Postcrossing phenomenon to analyze cross-cultural dynamics through authentic postcards. A mixed-methods approach was used, including a Postcrossing postcard-based questionnaire and personality assessment. The results highlight a significant relationship between personality types and intercultural interpretation skills, particularly among iNtuitive Thinking and iNtuitive Feeling types. This research demonstrates the potential of utilizing Postcrossing in translation studies and educational psychology to promote personality-based intercultural awareness

    Creation of an electronic trilingual dictionary of biological terms with linguoculturological components

    Digitization of educational system of the Republic of Kazakhstan, coupled with the Trilingualism program, has revealed the problem of the lack of trilingual training and resource books and, as a result, their mass creation in electronic form. This article deals with the experience of creating a disk version of an electronic trilingual dictionary of biological terms with a linguoculturological component using the Adobe Dreamweaver program. The experience of application and use based on a survey of teachers suggests that Adobe Dreamweaver is ideal for visualizing the linguoculturological component of the term in order to effectively memorize the latter.La digitalización del sistema educativo de la República de Kazajstán, junto con el programa de trilingüismo, ha revelado el problema de la falta de capacitación trilingüe y libros de recursos y, como resultado, su creación masiva en forma electrónica. Este artículo trata sobre la experiencia de crear una versión en disco de un diccionario electrónico trilingüe de términos biológicos con un componente linguoculturológico utilizando el programa Adobe Dreamweaver. La experiencia de aplicación y uso basada en una encuesta de docentes sugiere que Adobe Dreamweaver es ideal para visualizar el componente linguoculturológico del término con el fin de memorizar efectivamente este último

    The article explores the use of the elements of paleontology in extracurricular activities in the English language, since the materials enriched with the linguocultural and historical components contribute to the introduction of students to the linguistic cultures of other ethnic groups within a single state and increase the motivation for learning languages. The correct use of such materials in the project activities of schoolchildren provides opportunities for developing social activism and improving cross-cultural and linguistic competencies. The elements of paleontology in extracurricular activities in the English language could also contribute positively to the expansion of knowledge base in such school subjects as English and Biology and could potentially provide a deeper immersion in the culture and history of their country and their small homeland.O artigo examina o uso dos elementos de paleontologia em atividades extracurriculares em inglês, visto que os materiais, ricos em componentes linguísticas-culturológicas e históricas, contribuem para o envolvimento de um indivíduo em culturas linguísticas de outros grupos étnicos no interior de um mesmo país, e incrementam a motivação para aprender línguas. A aplicação correta de tais materiais nas atividades de projeto das crianças escolares potencialmente desenvolve uma posição cívica ativa, assim como as competências interculturais e linguísticas. Elementos de paleontologia em atividades extracurriculares em inglês também poderiam influenciar positivamente a ampliação de conhecimentos nas disciplinas, tais como Inglês e o curso escolar de Biologia, e potencialmente poderia proporcionar a imersão mais profunda em cultura e história do seu país, e da sua pequena terra natal.Aquí se discute el uso de elemento de paleontología en activididades extraescolares dirigidas en el idioma inglés porque los materiales ricos en aspectos culturológicos lingüísticos e históricos facilitan el conocimiento de indivíduos con culturas lingüísticas de otras grupas étnicas en el marco de un estado común así como producen una motivación alta para aprender idiomas extranjeros. La aplicación correcta de esos materiales en los proyectos desarrollados por los alumnos puede desarrollar su posición civil activa así como sus competencias lingüísticas e interculturales. Los elementos de paleontología en las actividades extraescolares en el idioma inglés también pueden tener un efecto positivo en el aumento del volumen de conocimientos en tales asignaturas como el idioma inglés y la biología y asegurar una inmersión más profunda en la cultura e historia del país nativos así como de la patria chica
