Computing NodeTrix Representations of Clustered Graphs
NodeTrix representations are a popular way to visualize clustered graphs;
they represent clusters as adjacency matrices and inter-cluster edges as curves
connecting the matrix boundaries. We study the complexity of constructing
NodeTrix representations focusing on planarity testing problems, and we show
several NP-completeness results and some polynomial-time algorithms. Building
on such algorithms we develop a JavaScript library for NodeTrix representations

The discovery of 12min X-ray pulsations from 1WGA J1958.2+3232
During a systematic search for periodic signals in a sample of ROSAT PSPC
(0.1-2.4 keV) light curves, we discovered 12min large amplitude X-ray
pulsations in 1WGA J1958.2+3232, an X-ray source which lies close to the
galactic plane. The energy spectrum is well fit by a power law with a photon
index of 0.8, corresponding to an X-ray flux of about 10E-12 ergs cmE-2 sE-1.
The source is probably a long period, low luminosity X-ray pulsar, similar to X

Gabriel Triangulations and Angle-Monotone Graphs: Local Routing and Recognition
A geometric graph is angle-monotone if every pair of vertices has a path
between them that---after some rotation---is - and -monotone.
Angle-monotone graphs are -spanners and they are increasing-chord
graphs. Dehkordi, Frati, and Gudmundsson introduced angle-monotone graphs in
2014 and proved that Gabriel triangulations are angle-monotone graphs. We give
a polynomial time algorithm to recognize angle-monotone geometric graphs. We
prove that every point set has a plane geometric graph that is generalized
angle-monotone---specifically, we prove that the half--graph is
generalized angle-monotone. We give a local routing algorithm for Gabriel
triangulations that finds a path from any vertex to any vertex whose
length is within times the Euclidean distance from to .
Finally, we prove some lower bounds and limits on local routing algorithms on

Occurrence of the Redglobe strain of Grapevine leafroll-associated virus 2 in table and wine grape varieties in Italy
Research NoteThe Redglobe strain of Grapevine leafrollassociated virus 2 (GLRaV-2-RG) is a recently discovered closterovirus so far reported to infect solely cv. Redglobe. A survey for this virus 2 in about 380 accessions of table and wine grape varieties conducted during 2001-2003 proved that GLRaV-2-RG was present also in other table grape varieties, though to a smaller extent, while it was never detected in wine varieties.
Fast transmission of grapevine 'Pinot gris' virus (GPGV) in vineyard
Grapevine 'Pinot gris' virus (GPGV) is a newly emergent virus associated with the appearance of grapevine leaf mottling and deformation disease (GLMD). The worldwide spreading of this virus, and sometimes of the associated disease, that has occurred in the last years, requests further epidemiological studies to verify the progress of natural infection in the field. In the present paper, GPGV infection and spatiotemporal spreading of GLMD, investigated in two vineyards with high disease occurrence, confirmed an elevated presence of the virus in vineyards of Northeastern Italy, and revealed an increasing of symptomatic plants over the time. At the same time, the progress of natural infection was monitored after the placement of new grafted plants near the symptomatic grapevines in the infected vineyards. After three years, 76 % of the plantlets that were initially GPGV-free became GPGV-infected, giving an evidence of the fast transmission of GPGV in the field. Only 14 % of the plantlets, all collocated inside a patch with diseased plants, showed typical GLMD-symptoms. Interestingly, some plantlets, which were already GPGV-infected with the "asymptomatic" GPGV variant before planting in the field, did not become infected with the "symptomatic" viral wild variant after three years and never showed GLMD symptoms
Further Observations of the Intermediate Mass Black Hole Candidate ESO 243-49 HLX-1
The brightest Ultra-Luminous X-ray source HLX-1 in the galaxy ESO 243-49
currently provides strong evidence for the existence of intermediate mass black
holes. Here we present the latest multi-wavelength results on this intriguing
source in X-ray, UV and radio bands. We have refined the X-ray position to
sub-arcsecond accuracy. We also report the detection of UV emission that could
indicate ongoing star formation in the region around HLX-1. The lack of
detectable radio emission at the X-ray position strengthens the argument

Redundant variables and Granger causality
We discuss the use of multivariate Granger causality in presence of redundant
variables: the application of the standard analysis, in this case, leads to
under-estimation of causalities. Using the un-normalized version of the
causality index, we quantitatively develop the notions of redundancy and
synergy in the frame of causality and propose two approaches to group redundant
variables: (i) for a given target, the remaining variables are grouped so as to
maximize the total causality and (ii) the whole set of variables is partitioned
to maximize the sum of the causalities between subsets. We show the application
to a real neurological experiment, aiming to a deeper understanding of the
physiological basis of abnormal neuronal oscillations in the migraine brain.
The outcome by our approach reveals the change in the informational pattern due
