Synopsis of New World Sigalphinae (Hymenoptera, Braconidae) with the Description of Two New Species and a Key to Genera

    Get PDF
We describe and illustrate Paphanus paloi sp. n., first generic record for Brazil, and Minanga patriciamadrigalae, first generic record for Costa Rica. We present illustrated keys for the New World genera of Sigalphinae, and the New World species of Paphanus and Minanga. Minanga patriciamadrigalae sp. n. was reared from caterpillars of Chloropteryx nordicariaDHJ01 (Geometridae)

Doryctopambolus nunes & Zaldívar-Riverón (Braconidae), a new Neotropical doryctine wasp genus with propodeal spines

    Get PDF
The new Neotropical doryctine genus Doryctopambolus gen. n. is erected to contain D. pilcomayensis (van Achterberg & Braet, 2004), comb. n., which was previously placed within Pambolus (Pambolinae), as well as three new species, D. clebschi sp. n., D. dominicanus sp. n. and D. sarochensis sp. n. Membersof this new genus are mainly characterised by the presence of at least one pair of conspicuous propodeal apico-lateral projections, which are similar to those present in all members of Pambolinae and in species of three Australasian doryctine genera. We generated DNA barcoding sequences for the three newly described species. We discuss the morphological similarity between species of the Australasian Echinodoryctes Belokobylskij, Iqbal & Austin and Doryctopambolus. A key for the described species of Doryctopambolus is provided.Fil: Nunes, Juliano Fiorelini. Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais; BrasilFil: Zaldívar Riverón, Alejandro. Hymenoptera “parasitica” no estado do Mato Grosso do Sul, Brasil

    Get PDF
A checklist composed of 105 species of parasitic Hymenoptera, which includes the non-aculeate Apocrita, recorded in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), Brazil, is presented. A new list, containing 153 genera obtained in recent surveys is also presented; out of these 131 are new records. The major knowledge gaps for these organisms in the State and the prospects for future studies for these organisms are discussed. © 2017, Fundacao Zoobotanica do Rio Grande do Sul. Six new species of Allorhogas (Hymenoptera, Braconidae, Doryctinae) from south and southeast Brazil with host-plant record

    Get PDF
Six new Brazilian species of the gall-associated Doryctinae genus Allorhogas are described and illustrated: A. copaiba sp. nov., A. ilexaffinis sp. nov., A. inquilinus sp. nov., A. quarentenus sp. nov., A. vassununga sp. nov. and A. viridis sp. nov. We provide host plant records for five of these species, three and one of which are new host plant genera (Ilex L., Copaifera L. and Eugenia P. Micheli ex L.) and new host plant family (Aquifoliaceae) records, respectively. Allorhogas inquilinus sp. nov., whose biology was previously reported, represents the first confirmed case of phytophagous inquilinism in the genus. An updated key to Brazilian species of Allorhogas is provided

Hymenoepimecis neotropica (Brues & Richardson) (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae, Pimplinae) parasitoid of Araneus omnicolor (Keyserling) (Araneae, Araneidae): first host record and new occurrence to Brazil

Hymenoepimecis neotropica (Brues & Richardson) (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae, Pimplinae) parasitoid of Araneus omnicolor (Keyserling) (Araneae, Araneidae): first host record and new occurrence to Brazil. The species of the genus Hymenoepimecis occur only in Neotropical region, being recognized for using as their hosts spiders which build orbicular webs. That wasp was described occurring only in the Guyana. This work expands the geographical distribution of the species to Brazil and records the spider Araneus omnicolor (Araneae, Araneidae) as its host. Furthermore, it provides information about the natural history of this interaction
