EXIT OF MEAT SLAUGHTER PLANTS DURING IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PR/HACCP REGULATIONS
Implementation of the Pathogen Reduction and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (PR/HACCP) regulations has occurred across all U.S. meat and poultry plants. A probit model is estimated to determine which factors have affected the probability of red meat slaughter plant exit during implementation of the regulations. While controlling for plant-level, company-level, regional-level, and supply conditions that may affect the probability of plant exit, smaller plants are found to exhibit a much greater probability of exit than larger plants. Other factors affecting plant exit include plant age, market share relative to the degree of market concentration, regional entry rates, and state-level wage rates.Agribusiness,
PLANT ENTRY AND EXIT FROM THE MEATPACKING INDUSTRY DURING PATHOGEN REDUCTION AND HACCP IMPLEMENTATION
Implementation of the Pathogen Reduction and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (PR/HACCP) regulations has now occurred across all U.S. meat and poultry plants. Using databases of plants under federal inspection, we estimate a probit model to determine which factors have affected the probability of exit of meat slaughtering plants during implementation of the regulations.Industrial Organization, Livestock Production/Industries,
Data compression for the microgravity experiments
Researchers present the environment and conditions under which data compression is to be performed for the microgravity experiment. Also presented are some coding techniques that would be useful for coding in this environment. It should be emphasized that researchers are currently at the beginning of this program and the toolkit mentioned is far from complete

Spinal Progenitor-Laden Bridges Support Earlier Axon Regeneration Following Spinal Cord Injury.
Impact statementSpinal cord injury (SCI) results in loss of tissue innervation below the injury. Spinal progenitors have a greater ability to repair the damage and can be injected into the injury, but their regenerative potential is hampered by their poor survival after transplantation. Biomaterials can create a cell delivery platform and generate a more hospitable microenvironment for the progenitors within the injury. In this work, polymeric bridges are used to deliver embryonic spinal progenitors to the injury, resulting in increased progenitor survival and subsequent regeneration and functional recovery, thus demonstrating the importance of combined therapeutic approaches for SCI

Supply Chain Resilience: How Autonomous Rovers Empirically Provide Relief to Constrained Flight Line Maintenance Activities
Purpose – The purpose of this research is to explore the utility of autonomous transport across two independent airframe maintenance operations at a single location. Design/methodology/approach – This study leveraged discrete event simulation that encompassed real-world conditions on a United States Air Force flight line. Though the Theory of Constraints (TOC) lens, a high-demand, human-controlled delivery asset is analyzed and the impact of introducing an autonomous rover delivery vehicle is assessed. The authors’ simulations explored varying numbers and networks of rovers as alternative sources of delivery and evaluated these resources’ impact against current flight line operations. Findings – This research indicates that the addition of five autonomous rovers can significantly reduce daily expediter delivery tasks, which results in additional expertise necessary to manage and execute flight line operations. The authors assert that this relief would translate into enhancements in aircraft mission capable rates, which could increase overall transport capacity and cascade into faster cargo delivery times, systemwide. By extension, the authors suggest overall inventory management could be improved through reduction in transportation shipping time variance, which enhances the Department of Defense’s overall supply chain resilience posture. Originality/value – When compared against existing practices, this novel research provides insight into actual flight line movement and the potential benefits of an alternative autonomous delivery system. Additionally, the research measures the potential savings in the workforce and vehicle use that exceeds the cost of the rovers and their employment
Interprofessional Education: Graduate Students’ Perspectives
Background: This program evaluation used qualitative methodology to describestudents’ expectations, concerns, needed supports, and experiences in a yearlongInterprofessional Education program. Methods and Findings: Focus groups were used to obtain the views of nurse practitionerand Master of social work students. Students participated in focus groups atthe program beginning and completion. Interprofessional education competencies, expectations, and concerns were examined. Results showed that at the beginning, students indicated a desire to understand the other’s professional role. They alsoexpressed concerns. During the post-program interviews, students indicated adesire to have had more classes and work together in clinical practice. Limitationsincluded a lack of participation of all students in the final focus groups. Conclusions: Student input in a program is essential. Further research is needed. Keywords: Interprofessional education (IPE); Qualitative research; Student evaluation;Graduate educatio
