    Get PDF
The paper is focused on the integration of the "paperless" technology in English for Specific Purposes and General English teaching-learning process of power engineering students. This technology is an efficient way to realize the functions of the e-learning environment (Moodle, blogs, etc.) of a modern institution of higher education. It creates the conditions for independent acquisition and quality mastering of necessary learning information which can be used at foreign language lessons. The use of electronic teaching materials based on hypertext and multimedia tools clearly demonstrated the advantages of this technology compared with traditional textbooks since it allows revealing the didactic potential of information technologies

The effect of polymorphic variant of TGFβ gene on chromosome damage of Kuzbass miners was studied. The frequency of chromosomal aberrations among miners was increased (compared with the control group, p=0,000001). We discovered that TGFβ gene polymorphism increases the frequency of chromosomal damage (chromatide exchanges, single fragments) among miners.

    Congenital Progressive Mutilating Hemangioma

A 73-year-old male patient was admitted with symptoms of decompensated cardiac and pulmonary insufficiency with long-lasting history. A tumor-like formation was observed within the clinical examination, covering the whole skin of the nose, paranasal region of the left part of the face, as well as the upper and lower left eyelids. The lesion was with yellow to brownish surface and dark-reddish to violet discolored peripheral area, composed of nodular formations, smooth central surface and firm texture on palpation. The histopathological examination verified the diagnosis of hemangioma, which had been congenital, regarding the patient’s history, treated surgically about 50 years ago, with signs of recurrence. The presented patient had been treated surgically at the age of 20, without medical evidence of the type of the performed excision. The recurrence occurs almost 50 years later, at the age of 78. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported recurrence of infantile hemangioma, treated surgically almost 50 years ago

Localized high-intensity light structures during multiple filamentation of Ti:sapphire-laser femtosecond pulses along an air path

The results of experimental studies of the transverse structure of a laser beam after multiple filamentation are presented. A ring structure of radiation is formed around individual filaments in a beam cross section inside the multiple filamentation domain, and at a dozen meters from it a common ring structure starts forming surrounding postfilamentation light channels (PFC). It is shown that the spectra of the PFC, rings, and beam are significantly different. The ring spectrum broadens asymmetrically relative to the carrier wavelength and is mainly concentrated in the short wavelength region. The PFC spectrum has a significant and more symmetrical broadening and covers the range 630–1000 nm

Filamentation of collimated Ti:sapphire-laser pulses in the glass

The results of experiments to study the spatial characteristics of multiple filamentation gigawatt laser pulses in the glass are presented. It is shown that with increasing pulse power multiple filamentation region increases in length and diameter, the distribution of filaments within the region has a maximum value when the power > 105 Pcr area filamentation takes the form of a hollow cone, the apex directed to the source of the laser radiation

Multiple filamentation of laser pulses in the glass

Results are presented of experiments on investigation of the spatial characteristics of multi-filamentation region of giga- and terawatt pulses of a Ti:sapphire laser in a glass. Dependences are obtained of the coordinate of the beginning of filamentation region, number of filaments, their distribution along the laser beam axis, and length of filaments on the pulse power. It is shown that with increasing radiation power, the number of filaments in the multi-filamentation region decreases, whereas the filament diameter has a quasiconstant value for all powers realized in the experiments. It is shown that as a certain power of the laser pulse with Gauss energy density distribution is reached, the filamentation region acquires the shape of a hollow cone with apex directed toward the radiation source

    Axiological Characteristics of Digitalized Education

The relevance of the problem of digital transformation of education is mainly connected with digital technologies and their focus on learning, however educational and development potential of this process and its axiological component are frequently ignored. If cultural and national values are continued to be disregarded, there is a risk of replacing them with a surrogate of a cultivated by the government model of a citizen. This article draws attention to the necessity of a purposeful formation of value beliefs and a national code in the process of digital transformation of the education system, of identifying and presenting the risks of this process, as well as means to solve possible problems. The following methods were used: analysis of academic sources on the issue, method of independent evaluations, monitoring, modelling. The main approach of the study is axiological

Synthesis and Antiviral Activity of Camphene Derivatives against Different Types of Viruses

To date, the 'one bug-one drug' approach to antiviral drug development cannot effectively respond to the constant threat posed by an increasing diversity of viruses causing outbreaks of viral infections that turn out to be pathogenic for humans. Evidently, there is an urgent need for new strategies to develop efficient antiviral agents with broad-spectrum activities. In this paper, we identified camphene derivatives that showed broad antiviral activities in vitro against a panel of enveloped pathogenic viruses, including influenza virus A/PR/8/34 (H1N1), Ebola virus (EBOV), and the Hantaan virus. The lead-compound 2a, with pyrrolidine cycle in its structure, displayed antiviral activity against influenza virus (IC50 = 45.3 µM), Ebola pseudotype viruses (IC50 = 0.12 µM), and authentic EBOV (IC50 = 18.3 µM), as well as against pseudoviruses with Hantaan virus Gn-Gc glycoprotein (IC50 = 9.1 µM). The results of antiviral activity studies using pseudotype viruses and molecular modeling suggest that surface proteins of the viruses required for the fusion process between viral and cellular membranes are the likely target of compound 2a. The key structural fragments responsible for efficient binding are the bicyclic natural framework and the nitrogen atom. These data encourage us to conduct further investigations using bicyclic monoterpenoids as a scaffold for the rational design of membrane-fusion targeting inhibitors

Toxicological evaluation of a new iron-containing preparation for farm animals with alimentary anemia

The second for the significance livestock sector is pig breeding, which accounts for one-third of the country’s meat production. Long-term world practice of pig farming confirms the high maturity of this species of animals, excellent taste, nutritious meat and most importantly the ability to quickly increase food production, and thereby ensure the optimal balance of the diet of the population. One of the constraining factors for the development of this industry is the development of iron deficiency alimentary anemia in pigs during the first 7 days of animal life, which affects the growth, development and increase of live weight in animals. Without preventive measures to supplement the iron with animals, up to 100% of piglets become sick with anemia, which can lead to the death of a significant part of the young population. This article presents the results of the toxicological approbation of a new iron-containing preparation for farm animals. The question of finding a less toxic iron preparation with a higher prolonging effect is relevant
