ECOTOXICOLOGY RISK ASSESSMENT
Ecotoxicology assesses the risk for non-target plant and animal species when applying plant protection products. The aim of the risk assessment is to predict possible adverse effects on the environment with the use of the toxicity data of individual active substances, metabolites and plant protection agents. The first stage of the risk assessment is exclusively quantitative, and the initial calculations can show that there is a certain risk when applying the product. In such a case, it is necessary to carry out a higher tier risk assessment which can result in certain measures to reduce the risk. Application of plant protection products, in a manner that is safe for the environment, is approved in accordance with the Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009. The Croatian Agency for Agriculture and Food - Centre for Plant Protection is responsible for the environmental risk assessment, which includes two closely related areas: environmental behavior and ecotoxicology

Prvi popis vrsta potporodice Arctiinae (Lepidoptera, Erebidae) za Hrvatsku i nalaz Rhyparioides metelkana (Lederer, 1861), nove vrste za hrvatsku faunu pronaÄene u dolini Neretve
Present paper provides the first checklist of the subfamily Arctiinae with biogeographical features, and distribution area and reviews of certain interesting species of tiger moths found in Croatia. To determine the level of research into the subfamily Arctiinae in Croatia, comparison was made with the well-explored tiger moths fauna of Italy, Slovenia, Austria and Hungary.
In addition, during September 1997 in the area of the lower course of the Neretva River five specimens of species Rhyparioides metelkana (Lederer, 1861) were collected for the first time for fauna of Croatia. Another six specimens of this species were collected in the same area in August 2012. This is the southernmost point of its distribution area in Europe, making this record faunistically very interesting. Nearest population of this species is found 400 kilometres north in Hungary.
The species Cacyreus marshalli was introduced into Europe from South Africa in 1978. In Croatia its presence was noted for the first time in 2009 in Mali LoŔinj. Previous research has recorded this species at around 20 localities. The present paper gives new records of the species Geranium Bronze from 28 localities in the Mediterranean part of Croatia with some data regarding its ecology
and ethology. The known margin of the distribution area of C. marsahalli in Croatia has expanded by around 50 kilometres to the south-east to the islands KorÄula and Lastovo and in inland to the PeljeÅ”ac peninsula. The Geranium Bronze has not been recorded in the continental and central mountain part of Croatia, but was for the first time recorded on Mt.

Nalazi nekih novih i zanimljivih vrsta tulara (Insecta, Trichoptera) u Hrvatskoj
The paper discusses the biological and ecological characteristics and distribution of 12 caddisfly species that have been ascertained to be rare, or even discovered for the first time, in Croatia: Rhyacophila palmeni, R. vulgaris, Glosossoma conformis, Wormaldia pulla, Hydroptila forcipata, Plectrocnemia geniculata, Micrasema minimum, Limnephilus graecus, Ceraclea riparia, Oecetis notata, Setodes punctatus, S. bulgaricus. Of these, the species that have been newly established for Croatia are: Plectrocnemia geniculate, Ceraclea riparia, Oecetis notata and Setodes bulgaricus, while the presence of the species Rhyacophila vulgaris, Micrasema minimum and Setodes punctatus has been established with confidence in the Croatian fauna for the first time (precise data of localities).U radu se daje osvrt na bioloÅ”ke i ekoloÅ”ke znaÄajke te rasprostranjenost 12 vrsta tulara koje su utvrÄene kao rijetke ili po prvi puta u fauni Hrvatske: Rhyacophila palmeni, R. vulgaris, Glosossoma conformis, Wormaldia pulla, Hydroptila forcipata, Plectrocnemia geniculata, Micrasema minimum, Limnephilus graecus, Ceralea ripariae, Oecetis notata, Setodes punctatus and S. bulgaricus.
Vertical distribution, diversity, ecological and biogeographical features of higher Ditrysia (Lepidoptera: Macroheterocera) of Mt.Biokovo and mt.
This doctoral thesis was focused on 10 families of Macroherocera to establish their diversity, abundance, ecological and biogeographical features that change vertically on Mt. Biokovo and Mt. LiÄka PljeÅ”ivica. For the researched areas Mt. Biokovo and Mt. LiÄka PljeÅ”ivica 371 species were established, 263 species for Mt. Biokova and 217 species for Mt. LiÄka PljeÅ”ivica. Diversity indexes demonstrate decline of biodiversity with the increase of altitude on Mt. Biokovu, on Mt. LiÄka PljeÅ”ivica this was not recorded. Clustering show faunistically distinct between lower and higher altitudes on Mt. Biokovo, but this was not the case for Mt. LiÄka PljeÅ”ivica. Comparing two areas indicate clear separation into different clusters. Biogeographical and ecological features of Macroheterocera differ between Mt. Biokovo and Mt. LiÄka PljeÅ”ivica
