The results refer to fifteen male in patients, 22 to 75 years old with no signal of infectious processes, having different clinical and cirurgic diagnostics in the Cardiology, Gastroclinics, and Adult General Nursery. The temperatures were measured nine times between 6 am and 10 pm. The ambient nurserys temperature was also monitored, at 5:30 am, 2 pm, and 8 pm. The results show that there was a significant difference between: the mean measured temperatures in different positions; the mean values of the different scheduled times; the mean values of the morning and afternoon periods (p-value=0,0001). When using the parametric technique of analysis of variance and the TukeyÂżs test of multiple comparation, there was no significant difference between the measured values (p-value=0,8). The significance level adopted was ? = 0,05. The tympanic thermometer has registered the daily variation of the patientsÂż temperature and its values were bigger than the measured by the other places of measurementAbstract: The aim of this research was to verify the daily variation of the tympanic, oral and axillary temperatures, and correlate measurements of the Tympanic temperature considering the positioning angle and to compare the set of measurements in adult volunteer patients during treatment in the Clinics Hospital of Universidade Estadual de Campinas, SĂŁo Paulo.
The aim of this study was to measure the circadian variability of patients' temperature in the eardrum, oral, and armpit positions considering the measurement angle. The study was carried out at the State University of Campinas' Clinics Hospital (HC Unicamp), a school hospital in the city of Campinas, State of SĂŁo Paulo. Temperatures were taken in the Cardiology, Adult General Clinic and Gastric infirmaries every two hours in two consecutive days, from the time patients woke up until 10 PM. The results show a significant difference, p-value = 0.0001, between the morning and after-noon periods compared to the evening period. The Tukey test has also showed a difference. It was observed that the measurement in the eardrum position resulted in higher temperatures compared to the other positions, thus confirming data in the international literature. The circadian variability eardrum temperature was similar to the measurements of the oral temperature during the patients' awaked period. Temporal profile of intestinal tissue expression of intestinal fatty acid-binding protein in a rat model of necrotizing enterocolitis
OBJECTIVES: Necrotizing enterocolitis is a severe multifactorial intestinal disorder that primarily affects preterm newborns, causing 20-40% mortality and morbidity. Intestinal fatty acid-binding protein has been reported to be a biomarker for the detection of intestinal injuries. Our aim was to assess intestinal tissue injury and the molecular expression of intestinal fatty acid-binding protein over time in a necrotizing enterocolitis model. METHODS: A total of 144 Newborn rats were divided into two groups: 1) Control, which received breastfeeding (n=72) and 2) Necrotizing Enterocolitis, which received formula feeding and underwent hypoxia and hypothermia (n=72). A total of six time points of ischemia (2 times a day for 3 days; 12 pups for each time point) were examined. Samples were collected for analysis of body weight, morphological and histological characteristics, intestinal weight, intestinal weight/body weight ratio, injury grade, and intestinal fatty acid-binding protein levels. RESULTS: Body and intestinal weights were lower in the Necrotizing Enterocolitis group than in the Control group (
