Dentistry as a branch of Medical Sciences is influenced by a great deal of scientific information written in English, compelling the dental professionals to be updated in English language for a better science understanding. One of the means and methods to fulfill such goal is through English terms glossaries in which in a very simple way provide the meaning of the most frequent and important words of a certain area of knowledge. This Glossary focused on Prosthodontics has been conceived mainly as a working and reference tool for dental students and post- graduated professionals, gathering almost 150 english terms focused on that branch of dentistry. Some terms have been left out of the Glossary because of their similarity to the Spanish equivalent. However, others were included because of their special translation. It is not an attempt to give all the words and phrases related to dental prosthesis; the aim is only to offer a quick and an updated reference on the most common and indispensable terms in this field.La estomatología como rama de las ciencias médicas no escapa al impacto del desarrollo de la ciencia y la técnica donde se crean grandes volúmenes de información científica que en la mayor parte de los casos su divulgación y/o comunicación provienen de países de habla inglesa o se generan en ese idioma, siendo muy necesario para el profesional al permitirle comprender y comunicar mejor la ciencia. Son variados los medios y métodos que el profesional utiliza para apropiarse de dichos conocimientos, los glosarios de términos en inglés de una misma rama o de un mismo campo de estudio son una herramienta válida de trabajo en el aprendizaje y uso de los idiomas al permitir de forma rápida el significado de palabras desde el contexto apropiado. Este glosario se ha concebido como un instrumento de trabajo y de consulta para estudiantes y profesionales en el campo de la Odontología, recopilando casi 150 términos específicamente en la rama de la Prótesis Dental, no se pretende exponer todos los vocablos y frases pertenecientes a la misma sería imposible, se excluyen los términos cuya escritura semeje al español excepto aquellos que su significado no sea el mismo. Glossário básico atualizado de termos dentários em periodontologia e ortodontia, inglês-espanhol

The large volumes of scientific information generated daily require health professionals to be constantly updated. Most of this information comes from English-speaking countries or is published in that language; hence, the professional must learn that language to be able to appropriate and/or disseminate as much as possible all this scientific creation. In this context, glossaries of terms from different languages contribute to cover this need. This glossary is conceived as a quick and up-to-date search tool for English terms related to orthodontics and periodontics. It compiles more than 150 terms from these specialties and is intended for students and professionals who wish to consult the meaning of words specific to these fields efficiently. It is not intended to present all the words and phrases pertaining to these specialties, as that would be impossible. It should be clarified that terms with spelling similar to Spanish were excluded, except those whose meaning is not the same.Los grandes volúmenes de información científica que se generan a diario demandan del profesional de la salud una actualización constante. La mayoría de esa información proviene de países de habla inglesa o se publica en ese idioma; de ahí la imperante necesidad por parte del profesional de aprender dicho idioma para poder apropiarse y/o divulgar en lo posible toda esa creación científica. En ese contexto, los glosarios de términos de diferentes idiomas aportan a cubrir esa necesidad. El presente glosario está concebido como instrumento de búsqueda rápida y actual de términos en inglés relacionados con la ortodoncia y la periodoncia. Ethics and Biosafety in Dental Care for Patients with Human Immunodeficiency Virus

Background: the only way of contracting human immunodeficiency virus during dental treatment is through contact with the blood of an HIV-positive patient with non-intact skin or mucosa of the professional. This requires biosecurity measures to reduce the risk of crossed infection and ensure compliance of bioethical aspects to be considered when treating these patients. Objective: To determine knowledge levels of dentists on biosafety and bioethical principle of justice in the treatment of patients with human immunodeficiency virus. Methods: A cross sectional and descriptive study was conducted involving 45 professionals who worked in Stomatological clinics of three parishes in Caracas, Venezuela, from January to December 2010. The following were analyzed: knowledge on biosafety (mechanisms of disease transmission, control measures and flowchart sterilization measures before an accident) and the justice bioethical principle (time and place of treatment, instruments used and time to devote to patient). Results: The knowledge level according to the bioethical principle of justice was assessed: 40% for good, 37.7% for average and 22.2% for bad. For biosecurity measures it was obtained: 26.6% good, 24.4% average and 48.8% bad. Conclusions: knowledge level on the bioethical principle of justice and biosecurity measures to treat patients living with human immunodeficiency virus is unsatisfactory in more than half of the dentists surveyed

Retratamiento endodóntico de premolar inferior con lesión periapical y laserterapia integrada. Presentación de un caso

Los tratamientos endodónticos son una solución primaria para conservar los dientes, aún después de fracasos iniciales es posible realizar con éxito un retratamiento. Por tales razones se presenta el caso de una paciente con una endodoncia incorrecta, que fue atendida en la Clínica de Especialidades de Cienfuegos, donde se le realizó un retratamiento y luego se aplicó laser de baja potencia con parámetros regenerativos para acelerar la reparación del tejido óseo periapical.Tras menos de un mes de evolución y 10 sesiones de laserterapia se obtuvieron resultados satisfactorios en la reparación del área periapical. Continúa siendo el retratamiento endodóntico la primera opción ante lesiones periapicales incipientes. Multidifferential study of identified charged hadron distributions in ZZ-tagged jets in proton-proton collisions at s=\sqrt{s}=13 TeV

Jet fragmentation functions are measured for the first time in proton-proton collisions for charged pions, kaons, and protons within jets recoiling against a $Z$ boson. The charged-hadron distributions are studied longitudinally and transversely to the jet direction for jets with transverse momentum 20 $< p_{\textrm{T}} < 100$ GeV and in the pseudorapidity range $2.5 < \eta < 4$. The data sample was collected with the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.64 fb$^{-1}$. Triple differential distributions as a function of the hadron longitudinal momentum fraction, hadron transverse momentum, and jet transverse momentum are also measured for the first time. This helps constrain transverse-momentum-dependent fragmentation functions. Study of the B−→Λc+Λˉc−K−B^{-} \to \Lambda_{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda}_{c}^{-} K^{-} decay

The decay $B^{-} \to \Lambda_{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda}_{c}^{-} K^{-}$ is studied in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected by the LHCb experiment. In the $\Lambda_{c}^+ K^{-}$ system, the $\Xi_{c}(2930)^{0}$ state observed at the BaBar and Belle experiments is resolved into two narrower states, $\Xi_{c}(2923)^{0}$ and $\Xi_{c}(2939)^{0}$, whose masses and widths are measured to be $$m(\Xi_{c}(2923)^{0}) = 2924.5 \pm 0.4 \pm 1.1 \,\mathrm{MeV}, \\ m(\Xi_{c}(2939)^{0}) = 2938.5 \pm 0.9 \pm 2.3 \,\mathrm{MeV}, \\ \Gamma(\Xi_{c}(2923)^{0}) = \phantom{000}4.8 \pm 0.9 \pm 1.5 \,\mathrm{MeV},\\ \Gamma(\Xi_{c}(2939)^{0}) = \phantom{00}11.0 \pm 1.9 \pm 7.5 \,\mathrm{MeV},$$ where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The results are consistent with a previous LHCb measurement using a prompt $\Lambda_{c}^{+} K^{-}$ sample. Evidence of a new $\Xi_{c}(2880)^{0}$ state is found with a local significance of $3.8\,\sigma$, whose mass and width are measured to be $2881.8 \pm 3.1 \pm 8.5\,\mathrm{MeV}$ and $12.4 \pm 5.3 \pm 5.8 \,\mathrm{MeV}$, respectively. In addition, evidence of a new decay mode $\Xi_{c}(2790)^{0} \to \Lambda_{c}^{+} K^{-}$ is found with a significance of $3.7\,\sigma$. The relative branching fraction of $B^{-} \to \Lambda_{c}^{+} \bar{\Lambda}_{c}^{-} K^{-}$ with respect to the $B^{-} \to D^{+} D^{-} K^{-}$ decay is measured to be $2.36 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.22 \pm 0.25$, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third originates from the branching fractions of charm hadron decays.Comment: All figures and tables, along with any supplementary material and additional information, are available at https://cern.ch/lhcbproject/Publications/p/LHCb-PAPER-2022-028.html (LHCb public pages

Measurement of the ratios of branching fractions R(D∗)\mathcal{R}(D^{*}) and R(D0)\mathcal{R}(D^{0})

The ratios of branching fractions $\mathcal{R}(D^{*})\equiv\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}\to D^{*}\tau^{-}\bar{\nu}_{\tau})/\mathcal{B}(\bar{B}\to D^{*}\mu^{-}\bar{\nu}_{\mu})$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^{0})\equiv\mathcal{B}(B^{-}\to D^{0}\tau^{-}\bar{\nu}_{\tau})/\mathcal{B}(B^{-}\to D^{0}\mu^{-}\bar{\nu}_{\mu})$ are measured, assuming isospin symmetry, using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to 3.0 fb${ }^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012. The tau lepton is identified in the decay mode $\tau^{-}\to\mu^{-}\nu_{\tau}\bar{\nu}_{\mu}$. The measured values are $\mathcal{R}(D^{*})=0.281\pm0.018\pm0.024$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^{0})=0.441\pm0.060\pm0.066$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The correlation between these measurements is $\rho=-0.43$. Restauración de incisivos laterales sin raíces. Presentación de un caso

La pérdida de un diente para la mayoría de las personas es un evento de preocupación y búsqueda casi inmediata de solución, principalmente si se ubica dicha pérdida en el sector anterior. La ciencia actual se ha desarrollado para dar respuesta a dicha demanda desde las prótesis parciales acrílicas hasta las prótesis fijas implanto-soportadas. Se presenta el caso de un paciente que acudió a consulta de estomatología general integral de la Clínica de Especialidades de Cienfuegos con ausencia total de uno de sus laterales superiores y con la solicitud de una solución estética a corto plazo por compromiso social. Recuperación de la estética de un incisivo central superior. Presentación de un caso

Una de las consecuencias de los traumas dentarios es la pérdida de dientes, dentro de sus consecuencias se incluyen las secuelas psicológicas debido a una afectación estética, especialmente si la pérdida es en el sector anterior, pues los parámetros de estética dictados por la sociedad obligan a las personas a buscar una armonía dentofacial. Se presenta el caso de una paciente que acude a consulta de estomatología en la Clínica de Especialidades de Cienfuegos con ausencia total de uno de sus incisivos centrales superiores producto de un trauma y solicitud por parte de la misma de una solución estética rápida. Se da solución al caso a partir de la combinación de una técnica quirúrgica y una restauración directa con resinas compuestas híbridas obteniendo resultados estéticos favorables
