    Systematic review of lean thinking in education institutions

    The economy, culture, and social development of countries in the 21st century are directly related to the quality of education. For education to have expected quality and deliver the desired values to their client, many educational institutions are applying Lean management.  Therefore, the paper aimed to explore the Lean implementation in education through a systematic review of papers from the past five years, in English and the Scopus and Web of Science databases. The methodology was developed using the PRISMA protocol and has been according to the type of approach, place of analysis, tools, facilitators, barriers, positive results, negative results, and the tendency of future work. The main results found were that 69.57% of the papers are analytical, LSS is the most discussed tool, the reduction is the main facilitator, the lack of Lean knowledge is the main barrier, and the attendance to the student obtained the best positive result

    Application of lean management tools in industry 4.0: a systematic review

    The concept of Industry 4.0 is very recent and has not been fully consolidated, and, for this reason, comprehensive implementations by the industrial sector may not be prudent. Studies show that only fundamentals of Industry 4.0 do not guarantee characteristics such as quality, for example, in production processes. Thus, lean production concepts are probably being used together to cover deficiencies in Industry 4.0. In this work, a literature review is proposed that points out where lean production tools are being used in the production processes of Industry 4.0. Using the results of this search, an analysis of the most important lean production tools, which appear in the works, has been made. The analysis has shown what is being used, in terms of the lean tools, in the production processes of Industry 4.0, and what improvements are provided from these tools

    Estratégia omnichannel na perspectiva da economia circular: uma estrutura conceitual

    Purpose: analyze the benefits of blockchain for the circular economy (CE) consisting of both closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) and reverse omnichannel solutions. By ensuring transparency, traceability, visibility, and security, blockchain enables companies to acquire operational capability through a CLSC and service capability through reverse omnichannel, which can significantly increase business performance. The associated network of relationships can be strengthened by establishing incentives that include both smart contracts in blockchain and active feedback approaches in CE. Method/design/approach: the gaps connect to the impact of blockchain on CE systems (CLSC and reverse omnichannel). To this end, procedures were performed from the formulation of the research question to the analysis of articles, using the systematic literature review approach. Results and conclusion: blockchain enables a more efficient CE system with reverse omnichannel solutions. The CLSC network can benefit from an active feedback approach by developing attractive incentives for collectors and amplifying the positive effects of blockchain. Incentives for collectors are crucial to strengthen the operational and service capabilities of CE systems. Research implications: Retailers can use the results of this research to develop sustainable omnichannel strategies. In addition, collection points need to be strategically positioned to enable this operation and integrate the concept of smart contracts. Originality/value: This paper takes a new approach to the study of EC, considering a dual circular system consisting of a CLSC and a reverse omnichannel.Objetivo: analisar os benefícios do blockchain para a economia circular (EC) consistindo tanto em cadeia de suprimento de ciclo fechado (CSCF) quanto em soluções de omnichannel reverso. Ao garantir transparência, rastreabilidade, visibilidade e segurança, o blockchain permite que as empresas adquiram capacidade operacional através de um CSCF e capacidade de serviço através do omnichannel reverso, o que pode aumentar significativamente o desempenho do negócio. A rede de relacionamentos associada pode ser reforçada através do estabelecimento de incentivos que incluem tanto smart contracts no blockchain quanto abordagens de retorno ativo na EC. Método: as lacunas se ligam ao impacto do blockchain nos sistemas de EC (CSCF e omnichannel reverso). Para este fim, os procedimentos foram realizados desde a formulação da questão de pesquisa até a análise de artigos, utilizando a abordagem de revisão sistemática da literatura.  Resultados e conclusão: blockchain permite um sistema de EC mais eficiente com soluções de omnichannel reverso. A rede CSCF pode se beneficiar de uma abordagem de retorno ativo desenvolvendo incentivos atraentes para coletores e ampliando os efeitos positivos do blockchain. Os incentivos aos coletores são cruciais para fortalecer as capacidades operacionais e de serviço dos sistemas de EC. Implicações da pesquisa: os varejistas podem usar os resultados desta pesquisa para desenvolver estratégias de omnichannel sustentável. Além disso, os pontos de coleta precisam estar estrategicamente posicionados para viabilizar esta operação e integrar o conceito de smart contracts.     Total Quality Management: the case of an electricity distribution company

    Goal: this research aims to deploy TQM in the new customers area of an electricity distribution company, located in Campos dos Goytacazes (Rio de Janeiro), based on three management pillars: guidelines, processes and routine. Design / Methodology / Approach: the nature of this work is applied research, with a qualitative problem approach, characterized as exploratory, using case study as a technical procedure, with data collected between april and september of 2015. Results: the performed methodology allowed a reduction of both "orders after deadline" (12%) and "unproductive visits" (22%) indicators. Limitations of the investigation: the research presented limitations, first, because of the resistance of some employees during the tools implementation and second, the methodology was implemented only in a sector of the company. Practical implications: the study was based on indicators and targets already used by the company. It was proposed and implemented an anomalies analysis and tools such asthe PDCA cycle, Pareto and Ishikawa diagrams, 5W1H, and Standard Operating Procedures. Originality / Value: there is little research with emphasis on TQM, especially when referring to an analysis using three levels of management (guidelines, process and routine) in the Brazilian electricity sector

    This research aims to discuss conceptually information systems as enabling elements of sustainable development. As justification for choosing the theme conceive about its contemporaneity, beyond the expectation of contributing to the academic field. The methodology employed is qualitative in nature, with bibliographic research. Among the main findings, it was possible to conclude that the relations between society and environment are increasingly linked and evident in daily life, considering the concerns implied in human practices and their environmental impacts, as well as the need for environmental awareness. Therefore, it is necessary to apply one of the greatest human benefits in favor of sustainable development, when information technologies, through information systems, become coherent to promote a more efficient, effective and quality environmental management in maintaining the environment. sustainable development.A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo geral, debater conceitualmente sobre os sistemas de informação como elementos viabilizadores do desenvolvimento sustentável. Como justificativa para a escolha do tema conceba sobre sua contemporaneidade, além da expectativa de contribuir para o campo acadêmico. A metodologia empregada é de natureza qualitativa, com pesquisa bibliográfica. Dentre os principais achados, foi possível concluir que as relações entre sociedade e meio ambiente surgem cada vez mais atreladas e evidentes no cotidiano, considerando as preocupações implicadas nas práticas humanas e seus impactos ambientais, bem como a necessidade de conscientização ambiental.     Variáveis hidroclimáticas associadas com eventos de El-Niño e La-Niña no reservatório hidrelétrico de Curuá-Una, Amazônia Central

    The anomalies of Sea Surface Temperature (SST) influence rainfall and therefore the regime of the rise and fall in the level of the rivers in the Amazon region. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of the El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) on hydroclimatic variables and identify the existence of trends on these variables in the Curuá-Una hydroelectric reservoir in the West of the State of Pará. It was used 27 years of monthly precipitation and water flow data to identify possible trends using a non-parametric test (Mann Kendall, p<0.05), and the standardized precipitation index (SPI) was also calculated. The results indicate a positive tendency of the influence of the ENSO on hydroclimatic variables, although it was observed that the rainfall did not increase over the period of 1977 to 2004. The SPI indicates that extreme events of precipitation are related to El Nino and La Nina and that lower precipitation periods were more intense in the decades of the 80´s and 90’s. The results show that El Nino events can directly affect the water balance at the micro-watershed of Curuá-Una, as was observed in 2015. © 2016, Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazonia.
