Modelling of figure-eight all-fiber laser
The figure-eight fiber laser is considered in two configurations,
with either a unidirectional active ring cavity coupled
with a nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) or a unidirectional
passive cavity and a nonlinear amplifying loop
mirror (NALM). In each case, we derive a master equation
of cubic complex Ginzburg Landau (CGL) type, in which
the coefficients explicitly depend on the characteristics of
the cavity. Single-pulse and continuous wave (cw) solutions
in both normal and anomalous dispersion are discussed analytically
Comparative study of soliton complexes in different laser configurations
We investigate the formation of self-organized and disorganized soliton structures in passively mode-locked Er:Yb doped double-clad fiber laser. Two laser configurations are studied. The first one is based on mode-locking through nonlinear polarization rotation while the second geometry is a figure-eight cavity in which the mode-locking is obtained with a nonlinear optical loop mirror. Although the physical mechanisms of mode-locking are different, we demonstrate that collective behaviours and soliton complexes are similar in both configurations. That demonstrates the universality of the solitonic structures
A fragment of Foley catheter balloon as a cause of Bladder stone in woman
Urinary bladder calculi are rarely seen in women and any history of previous pelvic surgery must, therefore, raise suspicion of an iatrogenic etiology. According to the literature, fewer than 2% of all bladder calculi occur in female subjects and, thus, their presence should provoke careful assessment of the etiology. We report one case of a fragment of Foley catheter balloon as a cause of Bladder stone in 28 years old woman. Weanalyzed the diagnosis, aspect and therapeutic management of this case which is the first described in literature to our knowledge
Evaluating the predicted reliability of mechatronic systems: state of the art
Reliability analysis of mechatronic systems is a recent field and a dynamic
branch of research. It is addressed whenever there is a need for reliable,
available, and safe systems. The studies of reliability must be conducted
earlier during the design phase, in order to reduce costs and the number of
prototypes required in the validation of the system. The process of reliability
is then deployed throughout the full cycle of development. This process is
broken down into three major phases: the predictive reliability, the
experimental reliability and operational reliability. The main objective of
this article is a kind of portrayal of the various studies enabling a
noteworthy mastery of the predictive reliability. The weak points are
highlighted. Presenting an overview of all the quantitative and qualitative
approaches concerned with modelling and evaluating the prediction of
reliability is so important for future reliability studies and for academic
research to come up with new methods and tools. The mechatronic system is a
hybrid system, it is dynamic, reconfigurable, and interactive. The modeling
carried out of reliability prediction must take into account these criteria.
Several methodologies have been developed in this track of research. In this
regard, the aforementioned methodologies will be analytically sketched in this
paper.Comment: 13 page, Mechanical Engineering: An International Journal (MEIJ),

The effect of confined Longitudinal Optical Phonons on the Binding Energy of an impurity in CdSe Quantum Dot
Using a variational approach, the effect of the confined LO-phonon on the binding energy in CdSe Quantum Dot has been calculated. The charge-carrier-phonon coupling is treated within the adiabatic approximation. Our results show that the effect of the confined LO-phonon on the binding energy decreases with the dot size. However the correction of the confined LO-phonon to bound state energy increases with dot size.Using a variational approach, the effect of the confined LO-phonon on the binding energy in CdSe Quantum Dot has been calculated.
