    Current iodine status and progress over the last decade towards elimination of iodine deficiency in Rajkot District, Gujarat

    Objective: To find out prevalence of goitre in primary school children; to compare prevalence with previous survey; to determine median urinary iodine concentration; to assess level of iodine in salt samples at household and retail shop level; and to study profile of salt sold at retail shops. Design & Settings: 30 cluster survey study in primary schools of Rajkot district. Subjects: Children studying in 1st to 7th standard. Methods: Total 70 students including five boys and five girls from 1st to 7th standard present in class on the day of visit were selected randomly for Goitre examination, so, total 2100 students were examined in schools. Urine sample was collected from one boy & one girl from each standard in each cluster. From community, 28 students including two boys and two girls from each standard in same age group were examined and also salt samples were tested from their households. From each village, one retail shop was visited and salts were purchased and tested for iodine on the spot with spot kit. Results: Goitre prevalence was found 8.8% among primary school children compare to 5.6% in 1999. As the age increases the Goitre prevalence also increases except in age group of 12 years. Median urinary iodine excretion level was found 110 µg/L. Iodine level >15 ppm was found in 81% salts samples tested at household level. Conclusion: Present study showed mild Goitre prevalence in primary school children in Rajkot district of Gujarat but still iodine content of salt found inadequate at household level

A literature survey was done, and the principal results are presented here through discussion of different Ride Quality Augmentation System (RQAS) designs and advances in related technologies. Recommended follow-on research areas are discussed, and a preliminary RQAS configuration for detailed design and development is proposed

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh kelengkapan peralatan praktik dan penerapan keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja terhadap hasil belajar kompetensi perbaikan kopling di SMK N 1 Adiwerna Kabupaten Tegal menurut persepsi siswa. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 70 siswa diambil menggunakan teknik total sampling. Metode pengambilan data menggunakan angket (kuesioner) yang telah diuji validitas reliabilitasnya. Metode analisis data dan hipotesis menggunakan analisis regresi dua prediktor. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelengkapan peralatan praktik dan penerapan keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja secara bersama-sama memberikan pengaruh terhadap hasil belajar kompetensi perbaikan kopling di SMKN 1 Adiwerna Kabupaten Tegal. Disarankan kepada sekolah untuk meningkatkan kelengkapan peralatan praktiknya dan guru untuk selalu mengawasi siswa pada saat pembelajaran praktik berlangsung agar siswa terkontrol jika ada siswa yang tidak menerapkan keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja

    Commuter aircraft typically have low wing loadings, and fly at low altitudes, and so they are susceptible to undesirable accelerations caused by random atmospheric turbulence. Larger commercial aircraft typically have higher wing loadings and fly at altitudes where the turbulence level is lower, and so they provide smoother rides. This project was initiated based on the goal of making the ride of the commuter aircraft as smooth as the ride experienced on the major commercial airliners.     This study wanted to see how the process of implementation of procurement of goods and services at the Department of Cooperatives and UMKM. The problem is the background of this research is Pekanbaru City Government in implementing the system of procurement of goods and services in the E-Procurement rated indecisive, this results in the lack of public information on the procurement of goods and services.This research is a qualitative descriptive study, the data collection techniques in this research is descriptive analysis. This research uses documentation (observation) and interview with key informants as an object of information that aims to achieve the goal to have the information in this study. Data used in this study are primary data and secondary data obtained through direct observation and interviews with key informants in this study.Based on the analysis results can be deduced that the announcement of the procurement of goods and services at the Department of Cooperatives and UMKM Pekanbaru is good enough. Department of Cooperatives and UMKM Pekanbaru City had reported all activities on the website page LPSE announced through the Public Procurement Information System Plan (Syrup). But reporting activities that have been carried out no reported, so the accountability of procuring goods and services at the Department of Cooperatives and UMKM rated yet to be done

    Ab-initio study of the bandgap engineering of Al(1-x)Ga(x)N for optoelectronic applications

    A theoretical study of Al(1-x)Ga(x)N, based on full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method, is used to investigate the variations in the bandgap, optical properties and non-linear behavior of the compound with the variation of Ga concentration. It is found that the bandgap decreases with the increase of Ga in Al(1-x)Ga(x)N. A maximum value of 5.5 eV is determined for the bandgap of pure AlN which reaches to minimum value of 3.0 eV when Al is completely replaced by Ga. The static index of refraction and dielectric constant decreases with the increase in bandgap of the material, assigning a high index of refraction to pure GaN when compared to pure AlN. The refractive index drops below 1 for photon energies larger than 14 eV results group velocity of the incident radiation higher than the vacuum velocity of light. This astonishing result shows that at higher energies the optical properties of the material shifts from linear to non-linear. Furthermore, frequency dependent reflectivity and absorption coefficients show that peak value of the absorption coefficient and reflectivity shifts towards lower energy in the UV spectrum with the increase in Ga concentration. This comprehensive theoretical study of the optoelectronic properties of the alloys is presented for the first time which predicts that the material can be effectively used in the optical devices working in the visible and UV spectrum.Comment: 18 pages, 7 figure
