    Biochar particles size influenced the yield and water productivity of two mint (Mentha sp.) varieties under drip irrigation

    In a two-year experiment conducted in 2019 and 2020, evaluation of the interaction between biochar particle sizes (without application (B1), <1 mm (B2), 6.60-9.50 mm (B3) and >13 mm (B4)) and irrigation treatments (120 (I1), 100 (I2) and 80% (I3) ETo) on yield, water use efficiency (WUE) and water productivity (WP) of two mint varieties (spearmint (V1) and peppermint (V2)) was done in the new soil of El-Behira Governorate under drip system. The results showed that, in both cuts, application of I1 and B4 increased the fresh yield by an average of 16.6 % for varieties and seasons, compared to other treatments. The highest oil yield was increased by an average of 28.0% for varieties and seasons under B2 and I3, compared to other treatments. The highest applied irrigation water was 11655 m3/ha under I1 averaged over varieties and seasons, which attained the highest yield under the application of the four biochar treatments. Application of I2 and B2 attained the highest values of WUE, namely 3.29 and 2.75 kg/m3 for V1 and V2, respectively averaged over seasons. The highest values of WP were also found under I2 and B2, namely 2.80 and 2.34 kg/m3. In conclusion, application of B2 could relieve the effect of water deficiency and increase both WUE and WP for both mint varieties.     Neonatal group A streptococcal meningitis: a case report and review of the literature

    INTRODUCTION: Group A streptococcus is a rare cause of neonatal meningitis. A review of MEDLINE database since1966 revealed only 15 documented cases of group A streptococcal meningitis in neonates. CASE REPORT: A previously healthy 28 days old male neonate presented with a history of irritability, fever, and focal seizures. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis and culture confirmed the diagnosis of group A streptococcal meningitis. The clinical course was complicated by the development of brain abscess. The patient made full recovery following a surgical drainage of the abscess and a 6-week total course of antibiotics. CONCLUSION: Although it is an uncommon organism, clinician should always consider group A streptococcal infection and its potential complications in the differential diagnosis and management of neonatal meningitis

    An approach is depended in the recent years to distinguish any author or writer from other by analyzing his writings or essays. This is done by analyzing the syllables of writings of an author. The syllable is composed of two letters; therefore the words of the writing are fragmented to syllables and extract the most frequency syllables to become trait of that author. The research work depend on analyzed the frequency syllables in two cases, the first, when there is a space between the words, the second, when these spaces are ignored. The results is obtained from a program which scan the syllables in the text file, the performance is best in the first case since the sequence of the selected syllables is higher than the same syllables in the second case

    INTRODUCTION: Missile injuries of the spine has been reported literatures, The neurosurgical concern in such injuries is the degree of damage sustained during the bullet traversing the bony and neural tissue and their effect on long term follow up.PRESENTATIION: This report describes an interesting case of gunshot traversing the cervical vertebral body, the spinal cord and the posterior element without appearance of any bony destruction or neurological deficit.DISCUSSION: The patient was managed conservatively with long term follow up clinically and radiological with excellent recovery.CONCLUSION: Surgery should be served for specific cases according to the severity of the trauma and its effect

    Active Control of a Non-Linear Ship model with External and Parametric Excitation

    The response of a ship model with non-linearly coupled pitch and roll modes under modulated external and parametric solved and studied. The active control is applied to reduce the vibration of the system . The method of multiple scale perturbation technique is applied to obtain the periodic response equation near the primary resonance in the presence of internal resonance of the system. The objective of this research is focused on the stability of this periodic solution, dynamical properties and chaotic response. The stability of the obtained numerical solution is studied using both frequency response equation and phase-plane methods. The effects of some parameters on the vibrating system are investigated and reported in this paper

    In this paper, the two positive position feedback controllers (PPF) are proposed to reduce the longitudinal and angular vibrations of the nonlinear spring pendulum system which simulated the ship roll motion. This described by a four-degreeof- freedom system (4-DOF) which subjected to the external excitation force at simultaneous primary and internal resonance case. The method of multiple scale perturbation technique (MSPT) is applied to study the approximate solution of the given system. The stability of the system is investigated near the resonance case applying the frequency-response equations. Numerically, the effects of different controllers parameters on the basic system behavior are studied
