    SITUAÇÃO E PERSPECTIVA EM ASSENTAMENTOS RURAIS NO ESTADO DE SÃO PAULO

    Diante do atual cenário agrícola, o presente trabalho procede uma reflexão sobre a realidade da reforma agrária em São Paulo, com base em acúmulos e observações do projeto “Da microbacia ao agricultor familiar: uma releitura do agroecossistema”, conduzido em assentamentos da região central do Estado. As reflexões remetem às principais características e peculiaridades dos assentamentos, os problemas que afetam a produção e os produtores, a sustentabilidade do processo a médio e longo prazo, bem como questões que se avaliam como centrais ao processo em si e às comunidades assentadas. Nas áreas trabalhadas verificou-se a adoção e implementação do padrão tecnológico da “Revolução Verde”, possivelmente inadequado a tal segmento por não estar conseguindo promover, a contento, a geração e a distribuição da renda, justiça social, produção de alimentos e a sustentabilidade dos agroecossistemas. Discute-se também enfoques e propostas que se avaliam como passíveis de contribuir para a superação ou a mitigação de alguns dos óbices atuais. A análise fundamenta-se nos pressupostos da Agroecologia, enquanto um campo das ciências agrárias e biológicas, cujo marco teórico conceitual, princípios e orientações podem contribuir para a superação de muitos problemas identificados nos assentamentos, sendo eles geridos por órgão federal ou estadual.-------------------------------------------------------In front of the actual agricultural scene, the present work proceeds some reflections about the reality of agrarian reform in São Paulo, based on accumulations and observing during the project “Da microbacia ao agricultor familiar: uma releitura do agroecossistema”, accomplished in rural establishments located on central region of the state. The reflections remits to the principals characteristics and peculiarities of establishments, the problems that affects the produce and the producers, the sustainability of agriculture process at medium and long term, and the questions that evaluated as central in the process and over the settled communities itself. On the worked areas it was verified that the adoption and implement of the “green revolution” technological model probably was been inadequate, such couldn’t promote the yield, the social justice, the food production and the sustainability of familiar agroecossistems. It was elaborated a reflexion about the focus and proposals which evalues as able to contribute for mitigation and overcome of some actual problems.     Técnicas multivariadas na determinação da diversidade genética em gergelim usando marcadores RAPD

    The objective of this work was to compare different multivariate techniques in the characterization of 35 sesame genotypes using 769 RAPD makers. Genetic distances were obtained from the arithmetic complement of the Jaccard coefficient, and were evaluated by single linkage, complete linkage and unweighted arithmetic average (UPGMA) agglomerative methods, Tocher optimization method and principal coordinate analysis. The clustering structure was altered by the different methods. Adopting the same genetic distance (0.36) as value of cut, four groups were discriminated in single linkage, 13 in complete linkage and 11 in UPGMA; the Tocher's optimization methods formed four groups. Among the hierarchical clustering methods, UPGMA showed the best adjust for estimated and originals distances (CCC = 0.89). Principal coordinates analyses confirmed the low diversity among genotypes. The highest divergence occurred between Seridó 1 and Arawaca 4 cultivars, and the minor, between VCR-101 and GP-3314 genotypes. The three first principal coordinates responded for 35.13% of the variability, and 18 autovalues were necessary to explain 81% of the genetic variation. UPGMA, Tochers' optimization and the principal coordinates analyses are complementary in the clusters formation.O objetivo deste trabalho foi comparar diferentes técnicas multivariadas na caracterização de 35 genótipos de gergelim mediante 769 marcadores RAPD. O agrupamento dos genótipos foi alterado em função dos diferentes métodos usados. Adotando-se a mesma distância genética (0,36) como valor de corte, diferenciaram-se quatro grupos no método do vizinho mais próximo, 13 para o vizinho mais distante, 11 no UPGMA e quatro no Tocher. Entre os métodos hierárquicos, o UPGMA apresentou o melhor ajuste das distâncias originais e estimadas (CCC = 0,89). As análises das coordenadas principais confirmaram a baixa diversidade existente entre os genótipos.     Impact of COVID-19 on cardiovascular testing in the United States versus the rest of the world

    Objectives: This study sought to quantify and compare the decline in volumes of cardiovascular procedures between the United States and non-US institutions during the early phase of the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the care of many non-COVID-19 illnesses. Reductions in diagnostic cardiovascular testing around the world have led to concerns over the implications of reduced testing for cardiovascular disease (CVD) morbidity and mortality. Methods: Data were submitted to the INCAPS-COVID (International Atomic Energy Agency Non-Invasive Cardiology Protocols Study of COVID-19), a multinational registry comprising 909 institutions in 108 countries (including 155 facilities in 40 U.S. states), assessing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on volumes of diagnostic cardiovascular procedures. Data were obtained for April 2020 and compared with volumes of baseline procedures from March 2019. We compared laboratory characteristics, practices, and procedure volumes between U.S. and non-U.S. facilities and between U.S. geographic regions and identified factors associated with volume reduction in the United States. Results: Reductions in the volumes of procedures in the United States were similar to those in non-U.S. facilities (68% vs. 63%, respectively; p = 0.237), although U.S. facilities reported greater reductions in invasive coronary angiography (69% vs. 53%, respectively; p < 0.001). Significantly more U.S. facilities reported increased use of telehealth and patient screening measures than non-U.S. facilities, such as temperature checks, symptom screenings, and COVID-19 testing. Reductions in volumes of procedures differed between U.S. regions, with larger declines observed in the Northeast (76%) and Midwest (74%) than in the South (62%) and West (44%). Prevalence of COVID-19, staff redeployments, outpatient centers, and urban centers were associated with greater reductions in volume in U.S. facilities in a multivariable analysis. Conclusions: We observed marked reductions in U.S. cardiovascular testing in the early phase of the pandemic and significant variability between U.S. regions. The association between reductions of volumes and COVID-19 prevalence in the United States highlighted the need for proactive efforts to maintain access to cardiovascular testing in areas most affected by outbreaks of COVID-19 infection

    Exsiccates forms a mixed document, in which the fixed plant represents the biological evidence and the registers of the label, the textual evidence. The biological evidence of the exsiccata is the basis for the study of the taxonomy and systematic which normally uses the observation and comparison of the fixed plant for the review and updating of the nomenclature. As a documental source, the series of exsiccates have been studied in this work with focus on the textual evidence. Through the revisiting, recovery and systematization of registers, information was gathered on: (1) common name of the plants; (2) usage, (3) perception on the relation human-natural and (4) historical aspects of the collection analyzed. The study has approached the series of exsiccates of the family deposited in three foreign institutions: (1) Royal Botanic Gardens (K), Kew, England; (2) Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle (P), Paris, France, which have participated in the Project REFLORA; (3) New York Botanical Garden (NY), United States, together with printed sources and manuscripts. A total of 2644 exsiccates, have been analyzed, 707 from K, 542 from P and 1395 from NY, and eight historical works. With the analysis of the data, 50 species of the family Urticaceae presented registers of popular names, of which the genre Cecropia outstands. Thirty-five exsicatas presented indication of use of the species collected categorized in (1) medicinal; (2) human food; (3) animal food; (4) fiber and (5) energy. The species with register of use were: Boehmeria nivea (L.) Gaudich., Cecropia concolor Willd., C. obtusa Trécul, C. pachystachya Trécul, Laportea aestuans (L.) Chew, Pourouma cecropiifolia Mart., P. cucura Standl. & Cuatrec., P. guianensis Aubl., P. minor Benoist, Urera baccifera (L.) Gaudich. ex Wedd., U. caracasana (Jacq.) Gaudich. ex Griseb., U. punu Wedd. A evidência biológica da exsicata é a base do estudo da taxonomia e sistemática que normalmente utiliza-se da observação e comparação da planta fixada para revisão e atualização da nomenclatura. Como fonte documental, as séries de exsicatas foram estudadas neste trabalho com foco nas evidências textuais. Através da revisita, resgate e sistematização dos registros. Buscou-se reunir informações sobre: (1) nome comum das plantas; (2) uso, (3) percepções da relação humano-natural e (4) aspectos histórico das coleções analisadas.
