This work of conclusion of course is based on the hypothesis that it is possible to seek in the development of the child, in his early childhood, elements that contribute to the construction of the inner clown. It aims, therefore, to reflect on the creative possibilities that we can construct from the observation of the process of development of the child and how such experience can be significant for the construction of the game of our own clown. The whole reflective basis of the research is permeated by the accompaniments of the little João Orlando, my greatest motivator, among other children who also contributed. This work is based on my experience as a professional clown and, therefore, I will also use the experiences acquired during the career as a basis for reflection; besides having bibliographical references that complement what was possible to discover of the children. By combining these points - observation of a child's infancy, the work of constructing my inner clown, and theoretical references - I present creative possibilities that we can draw from the initial developmental phase of a child for the construction of the clown. Elements that we can reuse for the composition of the body and voice of our inner clown

Aeromonas hydrophila is an opportunistic bacterium, with a high capacity for biofilm production, which can cause severe damage in aquaculture. The objective of this study was to identify the chemical compounds of the essential oils of Lippia sidoides (EOLS) and Cymbopogon citratus (EOCC), and to evaluate the biocidal, antibiofilm, and synergistic action with the antimicrobial florfenicol of these essential oils (EOs) against A. hydrophila. The antibacterial activity of EOLS and EOCC was verified by the minimum bactericidal concentration and by the action of these EOs against both forming and consolidated biofilms. The synergistic activity of EOs with florfenicol was performed using the checkerboard technique. The main component of EOLS and EOCC was carvacrol (44.50%) and α-citral (73.56%), respectively. Both EOs showed weak inhibitory activity (≥ 3,125.00 µg mL-1). Two bacterial isolates were able to produce biofilm, and EOLS and EOCC acted upon the bacterial isolates to prevent biofilm formation. A bactericidal effect was verified for EOLS in the previously consolidated biofilm for both isolates and for EOCC in only one of the isolates. In general, EOLS had a synergistic effect with florfenicol, while EOCF had an additive effect. Both EOs were able to interfere with biofilm formation and did not have an antagonistic effect in combination with florfenicol. The best results were found for EOLS, which showed a synergistic effect with florfenicol and the ability to interfere in the formation of consolidated biofilm. This study highlights the potential of EOLS and EOCC to23 interfere in biofilm and act in synergy with florfenicol to reduce the occurrence of A. hydrophila. Development of these compounds may contribute to the development of herbal medicines in aquaculture.

Long COVID and Health Inequities: The Role of Primary Care

    Get PDF
An estimated 700,000 people in the United States have "long COVID," that is, symptoms of COVID-19 persisting beyond three weeks. COVID-19 and its long-term sequelae are strongly influenced by social determinants such as poverty and by structural inequalities such as racism and discrimination. Primary care providers are in a unique position to provide and coordinate care for vulnerable patients with long COVID. Policy measures should include strengthening primary care, optimizing data quality, and addressing the multiple nested domains of inequity

We evaluated the inclusion of peeled-mango waste meal as source of carbohydrate in the protein:carbohydrate ratio (CP:CH) on performance and chemical composition of pacamã (Lophiosilurus alexandri) juveniles. One hundred and fifty fish (11.31 ± 0.96g) were stocked in sixteen 500 L tanks, fed three times daily (10% of live weight), in a system with water recirculation with biofilter. The treatments consisted of four experimental diets with decreasing levels of the ratio between crude protein and carbohydrate (1.40, 0.94, 0.56 and 0.29), with four replications per treatment. At the end of 60 days, we evaluated animal performance (average weight gain, specific growth rate, total apparent feed intake, carcass yield, survival) and metabolic parameters (glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, plasma albumin and free total amino acids) and liver enzyme alanine aminotransferase activity (ALT). The protein:carbohydrate ratios affected all performance variables (p<0.05), except for survival. The values of metabolic variables have been changed from the increase of the ratio CP:CH (p<0.05), with the exception of cholesterol and plasma albumin. Mango meal be used in a relation of 1.38 CP:CH without harming the performance and metabolism

The purpose of this research was twofold. First, to examine the role of the paradores in sustainable tourism as well as in Puerto Ricos economy; Second, to determine the owners knowledge on sustainable tourism. Twenty-five paradores owners from Puerto Rico were sampled. The country inns were used as small and medium tourism businesses in the research. A survey research design was used with the development and implementation of a questionnaire (Vega Romaguera, 1995). The questionnaire was mailed to the owners of the paradores; 13 questionnaires were returned (a 52% response rate). Data analysis revealed the following results: First, the paradores play an important role in sustainable tourism in Puerto Rico, because these businesses contribute to the economic and social development of the surrounding communities, and at the same time show respect for the environmental resources and promoting the culture and idiosyncrasy of the place where they are located. Second, the paradores owners are not familiar with the definition of the term; however, they help directly in different ways to the development of this modality of tourism

Within the tourist industry, the groups and conventions segment is one of those of greater diversity and contribution to the growth of the tourism (Kim, Chon, & Chung, 2003b). It has been suggested that the increase in this segment also increases the competitiveness within the convention destinations (Go & Govers, 1999). The construction of the Puerto Rico Convention Center, expected to be completed in 2005, could thus represent an opportunity for this segment on the island. The main objective of this dissertation was to analyze the marketing strategies for the Puerto Rico Convention Center as a competitive tool for the tourism of the country. This study investigates the impact of the Convention Center for both the tourism sector and for the economy of the island. This study also explores the role of the government toward this sector, how the marketing strategies contribute to the competitiveness of the destination, the marketing strategies most used in the segment, and the perceptions of the meeting planners of Puerto Rico as a convention destination. This investigation consisted of three main studies: the case study, the content analysis, and the importance-performance analysis. In the case study, the marketing plans for the Puerto Rico Convention Center and for the Hawaii Convention Center were described, and a comparative analysis between these plans was made. In the content analysis, the perceptions and opinions of people related to the tourism industry about the strengths and weaknesses of this segment were studied. In the importance-performance analysis, important attributes in the selection of convention destinations were studied. In addition, a mathematical equation was used to measure the competitiveness of both destinations. Among the most important findings, this study showed, there are similar marketing strategies between the Puerto Rico Convention Center and the Hawaii Convention Center. The political relationship with the United States of America, the variety of tourist attractions, the strategic location, and the construction of the Convention Center were the strengths for this segment in Puerto Rico. Some weaknesses are: the susceptibility from the segment to the world-wide situations, the cost increases, and the lack of research about tourism investigation on the Island. The meeting planners perceived the “facilities” and the “security” as the most important criteria at the time of selecting a destination; these agree with the attributes in which Puerto Rico must focus its efforts. When mathematically evaluating the competitiveness, Hawaii turned out to be more competitive in comparison to Puerto Rico. In conclusion, the competitiveness of a destination does not depend only on the strategies established in the marketing plan; it also depends on the cooperation of other agencies, organizations, and industries. Although there are several factors that comprise the competitiveness of a convention destination, marketing is a fundamental tool to acquire a competitive advantage that positions Puerto Rico in comparison to other destinations of the world. Therefore, a tourist destination would not be competitive if marketing is the only factor to be considered, it also depends on the interaction of other factors; however, there will be no competitiveness without marketing.200
