    PRE-SERVICE PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS’ BELIEFS ABOUT THE CONSISTENCY OF THE TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM ON THE FORMATION OF THEIR TEACHER IDENTITY

    It was aimed to determine the effect of belief about the consistency of teacher education program in the formation of teacher identity of primary school teacher candidates. In the study, correlational survey method was benfitted. The participants of the research study consisted of 203 senior primary school teacher candidates who studied in three different universities in the 2018-2019 academic year. “Early Teacher Identity Scale” and “TEDS-M Beliefs About the Effectiveness of Teacher Education Program” were used as data collection tools. As a result, it was determined that the teacher candidates’ beliefs about the effectiveness of the teacher education program are high and theearly teacher identity was at a medium level. In addition, it was revealed that the belief about the consistency of the teacher education program differed significantly in favor of female teachers according to gender, while the early teacher identity did not differ. It was concluded that there was a low positive relationship between belief about the effectiveness of teacher education program and the early teacher identity and belief about the effectiveness of teacher education program was a significant predictor of early teacher identity.     The analysis of the relationship among perceived electronic service quality, total service quality and total satisfaction in Banking sector

    In order to competitive and survive, businesses have to understand customers’ wants and desires. Today, banks are the cornerstone of finance sector and electronic banking services are becoming increasingly important in all areas. In accordance with this importance, banks should give much attention to enhance efficiency of these services. Service quality can be measured with the help of the servperf, servqual and e-s-qual scales. The aim of the current study is to investigate the structural relationships among electronic service quality, total service quality and total satisfaction by testing a structural model. The current study utilized a survey design. The data was collected from 223 participants in Turkey using a structured questionnaire which was derived from literature. Since there was no list available, convenient sampling method was used. The data at hand was analysed using the structural equation modelling (SEM), specifically Lisrel version 8.7. When the results are investigated, it can be said that the model is statistically significant. The goodness of fit indices of the revised model indicate adequate fit. All of the hypotheses except H1 and H3 were verified. A high level positive correlation was identified between the perception of total service quality and the perception of total satisfaction. The variables responsiveness, ease of use, product portfolio and security, which are the dimensions of e-service quality, affect total service quality perception and total satisfaction perception in parallel with the literature. Responsiveness and security are the dimensions which have the highest effect on e-service quality perception. Also total service quality perception affects highly total satisfaction perception

    Investigation of The Effect of Pre-Service Classroom Teachers’ Critical Thinking Disposition on Their Media Literacy

    It is important to develop a critical perspective in terms of interpreting the messages to be given to the individuals through media and questioning the authenticity and content of these messages. It is therefore necessary to train the individuals called media literate who can critically perceive and evaluate the information conveyed through the media to increase the positive effects of the media and to reduce their negative effects as much as possible. The purpose of the current study is to investigate the effect of the pre-service teachers’ critical thinking disposition on their media literacy. The study employed the relational survey model, one of the quantitative research methods. In order to collect data, a personal information form, the Critical Thinking Disposition Scale, and the Media Literacy Level Determination Scale were used as the data collection tools. As a result of the study, the critical thinking disposition of the pre-service teachers was found to be medium and their media literacy was found to be high. The critical thinking disposition was found to be varying significantly depending on their gender and grade level; their media literacy was found to be varying depending on grade level but not on gender. There is a positive but low relationship between critical thinking disposition and media literacy and critical thinking is a significant predictor of media literacy

    Predictors of adverse perinatal outcomes in intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy

    Objectives: Our objective was to evaluate in our clinic the perinatal outcomes of patients diagnosed with ICP based on pre-treatment maternal serum bile acid levels, attempt to identify the risk group and review the literature in light of this information.  Material and methods: In total, 370 patients diagnosed with ICP were included in the study, divided into two groups based on the fasting total serum bile acid level before UDCA (Group 1: 10 ≥ 40 μmol/L, and Group 2: ≥ 40 μmol/L). The groups were examined for clinical characteristics and pregnancy outcomes.  Results: It was found that preterm delivery and neonatal intensive care need increased at a serum bile acid cut-off value of 34 μmol/L. Regardless of serum bile acid, significantly higher rates of meconium-stained amniotic fluid and foetal distress were observed in patients whose diagnoses were made before 34 weeks of gestation.  Conclusions: Foetal complications over 40 μmol/L of serum bile acid were significantly increased. However, slightly lower levels cut-off values (34 μmol/L) were obtained in terms of preterm birth and neonatal intensive care need. The incidence of meconium-stained amniotic fluid and foetal distress was higher in patients whose diagnosis were made before 34 weeks of gestation.

    Bu çalışma, Maltepe Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsünde sunulmuş olan yüksek lisans tez çalışmasından üretilmiştirAraştırmanın amacı ilkokula başlama yaşının 5. Sınıftaki öğrencilerin benlik saygısı ve sosyal uyum düzeyleri ile ilişkisini incelmektir. Ayrıca bazı demografik değişkenlerin (cinsiyet, kardeş sayısı, anne baba eğitim düzeyi, anne- baba birliktelik durumu, anaokuluna devam durumu ve ilkokulda öğretmen değişikliği yaşayıp yaşamama durumu) sosyal uyum ve benlik saygısı arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiştir. Bunun için İstanbul ili Kartal ilçesindeki 26 Ortaokulda 436 5. sınıf öğrencisine Walker-McCannell Okula Uyum ve Sosyal Yeterlik Ölçeği, Coopersmith Özsaygı Envanteri Kısa Formu ile amaca uygun olarak düzenlenmiş Demografik Bilgi Formu uygulanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde Bağımsız Örneklem T Testi, Pearson Korelasyon Analizi ve Tek Yönlü Varyans Analizi (ANOVA) yapılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre, öğrencilerin benlik saygılarının ve sosyal uyum düzeylerinin, okula başlama yaşına göre anlamlı bir şekilde farklılaşmadığı saptanmıştır. Ayrıca, kız öğrencilerin benlik saygılarının erkek öğrencilerden anlamlı bir şekilde daha yüksek olduğu; anne – babası birlikte yaşayan öğrencilerin benlik saygılarının anne – babası ayrı olanlardan daha yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır.The main purpose of the study is to examine the effects of the primary school starting age on the self-esteem and social adjustment levels of students of the 5th grade. In addition, the relationships between some demographic variables (gender, number of siblings, parental education level, parental status, attendance at kindergarten, and teacher change in primary school) and social adjustment and self-esteem were examined. Walker-McCannell Adaptation to School and Social Skills Scale, Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory Short Form and appropriately arranged Demographic Information Form applied to 436 5th grade students in Kartal district. Independent Sample T-Test, Pearson Correlation Analysis and One-Way ANOVA were used to analyse collected data. According to the results, there is no significant relationship neither between the age to start school and self-esteem nor between social adjustment. The self-esteem of female students is significantly higher than males and the self-esteem of students whose parents are together have higher self-esteem than the students that have divorced parents. It is also found that, there are significant relationship between education levels of children’s parents, number of siblings and self-esteem. Another significant difference is detected between number of siblings and children’s social adaptation

    Bu araştırmanın amacı, sınıf öğretmeni adaylarının matematiksel düşünme ile bireysel yenilikçilik durumları arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemektir. Amaç doğrultusunda araştırma ilişkisel tarama modelinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak matematiksel düşünme ölçeği ile bireysel yenilikçilik ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini 2015-2016 eğitim öğretim yılı bahar döneminde Muğla Sıtkı Koçman Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Sınıf Öğretmenliği Lisans Programında öğrenim görmekte olan öğretmen adayları arasından seçkisiz yöntemle belirlenen 223 sınıf öğretmeni adayı oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, sınıf öğretmeni adaylarının matematiksel düşünme durumlarının yüksek, bireysel yenilikçiliklerine ilişkin durumlarının orta düzeyde, bireysel yenilikçilik kategorilerinden en fazla sorgulayıcı olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Matematiksel düşünme ile bireysel yenilikçilik durumları arasındaki ilişki incelendiğinde orta düzeyde pozitif yönde anlamlı bir ilişkinin olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Sınıf öğretmenlerinin yetiştirilmesi aşamasında matematiksel düşünmeyi geliştirici etkinliklerin tasarlanması, planlanması ve uygulanmasına yönelik etkinlikler gerçekleştirilerek bireysel yenilikçilikleri desteklenebilir.The aim of the study is determine the relationship between mathematical thinking and individual innovations of pre-service primary school teachers. The correlational research method was used. Mathematical Thinking Scale and Individual Innovation Scale were used as data collection instrument. The sapling was constituted from 223 pre-service primary school teachers who studied in Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, Faculty of Education and Department of Primary School Teacher Education in 2015-2016 academic year. According to the result of this study, it was found that the mathematical thinking level of the participants was high, the level of individual innovation was moderate. From the categories of the individual innovation, critical had the highest score in this study. As for the relationship between mathematical thinking and individual innovation, a moderate positive relationship was observed. Individual innovations can be promoted through activities aimed at designing, planning and implementing mathematical thinking improvement activities in the course of the upbringing of classroom teachers

    Derin öğrenme yöntemi ile panoramik radyografiden diş eksikliklerinin tespiti: Bir yapay zekâ pilot çalışması

    Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, panoramik radyografide diş eksikliklerinin değerlendirilmesi için tasarlanmış tanı amaçlı bilgisayar yazılımının işlevini geliştirmek ve değerlendirmektir.Gereç ve Yöntemler: Veri seti eksik diş tespiti için 99 tam diş ve 54 eksik diş olmak üzere 153 görüntüden oluşmaktadır. Tüm görüntüler Ağız, Diş ve Çene Radyolojisi uzmanları tarafından tekrar kontrol edilmiş ve doğrulanmıştır. Veri setindeki tüm görüntüler eğitim öncesinde 971 X 474 piksel olarak yeniden boyutlandırılmıştır. Açık kaynak kodlu python programlama dili ve OpenCV, NumPy, Pandas, ile Matplotlib kütüphaneleri etkin olarak kullanılarak bir rastgele dizilim oluşturulmuştur. Önceden eğitilmiş bir Google Net Inception v3 CNN ağı ön işleme için kullanılmış ve veri setleri transfer öğrenimi kullanılarak eğitilmiştir.Bulgular: Eğitim de kullanılan görüntülerin modeli tahminlendirmesi ile çıkan başarı oranı % 94.7’dir. Eğitimde kullanılmayan test için ayrılan görüntülerin tahminlemesindeki başarı oranı % 75’dir. Sonuç: Derin öğrenme tekniklerinde veri seti arttıkça başarı oranları da artmaktadır. Daha fazla görüntüyle oluşacak veri setininin eğitim modellerinde başarı oranları yükselecektir.     SUCCESS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM IN DETERMINING ALVEOLAR BONE LOSS FROM DENTAL PANORAMIC RADIOGRAPHY IMAGES

    Objectives: The aim of this study was to detect alveolar bone loss from dental panoramic radiographic images using artificial intelligence systems. Material and Methods: A total of 2276 panoramic radiographic images were used in this study. While 1137 of them belong to cases with bone destruction, 1139 were periodontally healthy. The dataset is divided into three parts as training (n=1856) , validation (n=210) and testing set (n= 210). All images in the data set were resized to 1472x718 pixels before training. A random sequence was created using the open-source python programming language and OpenCV, NumPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib libraries effectively. A pre-trained Google Net Inception v3 CNN network was used for preprocessing and data sets were trained using transfer learning. Diagnostic performance was evaluated with the confusion matrix using sensivitiy, specificity, precision, accuracy and F1 score. Results: Of the 105 cases with bone loss, 99 were detected by the AI system. Sensitivity was 0.94, specificity 0.88, precision 0.89, accuracy 0.91 and F1 score 0.91. Conclusion: The convolutional neural network model is successful in determining periodontal bone losses. It can be used as a system to facilitate the work of physicians in diagnosis and treatment planning in the future
