Factors impacting the commercial potential of technologies: expert approach
In order to ensure the harmonious activity of the institutions engaged in R&D and to reduce the uncertainty of the commercialization of technologies, an advanced tool for verifying decisions on technology development at early stages of commercialization, i.e. an instrument for assessing the commercial potential of technology, is needed.
The article is aimed at defining the importance of factors in the commercial potential of technologies with the help of expert research. To achieve the goal, the following tasks have been approached: (1) on the basis of the created system for factors in the commercial potential of technologies, to conduct expert research aimed at collecting information on the importance of factors in technologies; (2) to apply the methods of mathematical statistics in order to determine the compatibility level of expert opinions and the significance of factors.
The system of factors in the commercial potential of technologies and the identified significance of factors can be used as recommended guidelines for technology developers, investors and potential owners in the decision-making processes of commercialization, investment or purchase of technology as well as at the next stage of research on the development model for assessing the commercial potential of technologies
Overconfidence, risk aversion and individual financial decisions in experimental asset markets
Prior experiments revealed that investors’ overconfidence can result in
excessive trade and negative wealth effects. However, in most of these
studies, informational asymmetries were part of the experimental
design, and therefore no clear conclusion on whether the obtained
results were driven by overconfidence or informational asymmetries
could be made. The article addresses this issue by analysing individual
financial decisions based on the study of Michailova and Schmidt, who
ran an asset markets experiment with no informational asymmetries.
Additionally, the study controls for differences in individual risk
aversion. The data revealed that, in this setting, individual trading
activity and performance were influenced by overconfidence only for
female participants. Mistakes in future price forecasting, which were
negatively correlated with overconfidence, partially accounted for this
result. Risk aversion was uncorrelated wi

The impact of transport on the competitiveness of national economy
Transport has always been and remained one of the main driving forces in the economical development of any country including Lithuania. The paper assesses a positive impact of transport on Lithuanian economy in the light of the analysis of the main indicators measuring the success of the transport sector: the share of transport and warehousing sectors to national GDP (%) and the share of the export of transport services in GDP (%). It is also widely acknowledged that transport is going to play a crucial role in economic development in the future, especially in transit‐related transport like the Baltic States. On the other hand, the growth of transport, particularly in road transport, has had a significant impact on congestion, safety and pollution. Therefore, the task of transport decision makers is to find the key for sustainable transport development and reduction of a negative transport impact to sustain the transport sector as the engine of economy. The paper analyses both the positive and negative impacts of transport on economy and evaluates the possible ways developing the sustainable transport system.
