    Limit Order Trading and Information Asymmetry: Empirical Evidence about the Evolution of Liquidity on an Order Driven Market

    This paper is concerned with investigating the order placement behaviour of different types of traders on the ASX. We find strong evidence of informed traders use of limit orders, as well as insights into the evolution of liquidity over a trading day. The greatest increase of informed traders use of limit orders is during the last two hours of trading before closing. We also find evidence that the information value processed by informed traders make them more successful in their use of limit orders. This impact is considered substantial as in our sample the volume of limit orders from informed traders under-weighs that of the other traders by a large amount. The order strategy of liquidity traders displays a relatively flat U shaped pattern with more limit orders being used at the opening. It is also found that the pattern of the informed traders order placement shows an increase in the use of market orders. This is a result of the unique trading mechanism which entails a closing call auction as applied on the ASX. Traders that have information about the true value of stocks act on it through the use of market orders before the continuous trading platform closes.Evolution of liquidity, Informed trader, Limit order, Information asymmetry

    The development, design, and testing of a preliminary flight prototype potable water bactericide system are described. The system is an assembly of upgraded canisters composed of: (1) A biological filter; (2) an activated charcoal and ion exchange resin canister; (3) a silver chloride canister, (4) a deionizer, (5) a silver bromide canister with a partial bypass, and (6) mock-up instrumentation and circuitry. The system exhibited bactericidal activity against 10 to the 9th power Pseudomonas aeruginosa and/or Type IIIa, and reduced Bacillus subtilis by up to 5 orders of magnitude in 24 hours at ambient temperatures with a 1 ppm silver ion dose. Four efficacy tests were performed with a AgBr canister dosing anticipated fuel cell water. Tests show that a 0.05 ppm silver ion dose was bactericidal against 3 plus or minus 1 x 10 to the 9th power (5 plus or minus 1 x 10,000/ml Pseudomonas aeruginosa and/or Type IIIa in 15 minutes or less

    Advance prototype silver ion water bactericide system

    An advance prototype unit was designed and fabricated to treat anticipated fuel cell water. The unit is a single canister that contains a membrane-type prefilter and a silver bromide contacting bed. A seven day baseline simulated mission test was performed; the performance was satisfactory and the effluent water was within all specifications for potability. After random vibrations another seven day simulated mission test was performed, and results indicate that simulated launch vibrations have no effects on the design and performance of the advanced prototype. Bench tests and accelerated breadboard tests were conducted to define the characteristics of an upgraded model of the advance prototype unit which would have 30 days of operating capability. A preliminary design of a silver ion generator for the shuttle orbiter was also prepared

    Experimental aerodynamic investigations have been made on a .0035 scale model North American Rockwell/General Dynamics version of the space shuttle. Static stability and control data were obtained on the delta wing booster alone (B-20) and with the delta wing orbiter (134D) mounted in various positions on the booster. Six component aerodynamic force and moment data were recorded over an angle of attack range from -10 deg to 24 deg at 0 deg and 6 deg sideslip angles and from -10 deg to +10 deg sideslip at 0 deg angle of attack.     Origin of Superconductivity in Boron-doped Diamond

    Superconductivity of boron-doped diamond, reported recently at T_c=4 K, is investigated exploiting its electronic and vibrational analogies to MgB2. The deformation potential of the hole states arising from the C-C bond stretch mode is 60% larger than the corresponding quantity in MgB2 that drives its high Tc, leading to very large electron-phonon matrix elements. The calculated coupling strength \lambda ~ 0.5 leads to T_c in the 5-10 K range and makes phonon coupling the likely mechanism. Higher doping should increase T_c somewhat, but effects of three dimensionality primarily on the density of states keep doped diamond from having a T_c closer to that of MgB2.Comment: Four pages with two embedded figures, corrected fig1.     The thrust, specific fuel consumption, and relative merits of the tandem fan and the dual reverse flow front fan propulsion systems for a supersonic V/STOL aircraft are discussed. Consideration is given to: fan pressure ratio, fan air burning, and variable core supercharging. The special propulsion system components required are described, namely: the deflecting front inlet/nozzle, the aft subsonic inlet, the reverse pitch fan, the variable core supercharger and the low pressure forward burner. The potential benefits for these unconventional systems are indicated
