Dre Parker’s Effort To Be Respected And Not To Be Abused In Karate Kid (2010) Directed By Harald Zwart: An Individual Psychological Approach
The subject of the study is the novel and the movie Angel and Demon directed by Ron Howard and written by Dan’s Brown. The study is about similarities and differences between novel and movie of Angel and Demon. The writer studies in structural approach by comparing the element in the movie and in the novel. The researcher employs the descriptive qualitative research as a type of the research. The data sources are divided into two, namely primary data source and secondary data source. The primary data source is the movie and the novel of Angel and Demon and the secondary data source is information related to the
primary data source, website, and book about structural approach and about the novel and movie of Angel and Demon. The method of collecting data is observation and library review. The method of analyzing data is descriptive
technique. The results of the research show that : first, based on the structural analysis, there are many similarities between the novel and the movie of Angel
and Demon The similarities are in character and characterization, setting, and point of view. The difference lays in the aspect of character and characterization, in which the minor character in the movie is merged and blended with the other character
The study examines motives, forms, challenges and success factors of cooperations between start-ups and established Mittelstand firms. While start-ups are motivated by network access and industry-specific knowledge, established firms seek access to new technologies and to highly qualified specialists. The chosen cooperation design derives from the partners' objectives and differs in terms of intensity and legal structure. To initiate a successful cooperation, established firms have to be open-minded and need to establish a risk- and innovation-friendly culture within their organization. Start-ups should already understand the specific needs of their potential partner in advance. Overall these cooperations offer great potential for both sides. Start-ups benefit from the short decision-making processes in owner-managed firms and established firms from higher competitiveness through the innovation impulses they receive from start-ups
High-fidelity inelastic post-buckling response for balanced design and performance improvement of X-braced moment resisting frames
In this paper, the nonlinear post buckling response of X-Braced Moment Resisting Frame (X-BMRF) systems are studied. The X-BMRF comprises of X-bracing diagonals attached to the moment frame by corner gusset plates to form the structural system acting as a dual frame. In common practice today, one of the X-bracing diagonal members is discontinuous, and a middle gusset plate is used to connect the diagonals to each other at the intersection. In this study, the effect of mid-connection details and different types sizes of corner gusset plate connection are well measured to evaluate behavioral characteristics of the above systems. An accurate and robust three-dimensional finite element modeling of the above systems validatedverified against available test data and numerical simulation are demonstrated. Then, a number of X-BMRFs are designed and analyzed under monotonic (and cyclic) loading(s), and later ductility values and energy dissipation ratios of such systems are appraised. The results are used to evaluate the secondary yield mechanisms, probable failure modes, and to quantify the loading share of story shear when different rigidity ratios between the X-bracing and moment frame systems are deliberated. Finally, the results can provide a suitable ground to present a new set of balanced design criteria which can improve nonlinear performance and assure maximum system ductility of such system
Lessons learnt from a feasibility study on price incentivised healthy eating promotions in workplace catering establishments
Background It is recognised that the worksite catering sector is likely to play a pivotal role in influencing dietary intake in adults of working age. The present study aimed to assess the feasibility of engaging worksites in a healthy eating intervention, implementing a price incentivised main meal intervention and measuring indicative intervention responses to inform the design of a future trial. Methods Workplaces registered with the Scottish Healthy Living Award were invited to participate. The EatSMART intervention (a reduced price, healthy meal combination plus promotions) was implemented over 10 weeks in two worksites. Implementation was assessed by observational and sales data. Indicative effects on food habits were measured using online pre- and post-intervention questionnaires. Focus group discussions and interviews were used to determine catering staff and consumer acceptability. Results Thirty-seven worksites were invited to participate and four worksites responded positively. Two sites (with 1600 and 500 employees, respectively) participated. Both required significant implementation support. Estimated sales data indicated that the uptake of promoted items varied by week (range 60–187 items) and by site. A poor response rate from questionnaires limited the evaluation of intervention impact. Consumers reported improved value for money and quality. Both sites reported an intention to continue the intervention delivery. Conclusions Significant efforts are required to engage worksite catering teams and implement healthy eating interventions. Evaluation methods require further development to improve data collection. Responses from consumers and catering staff suggest that further work in this area would be welcomed
