A Castaway’s Look. The Writing of the Wreck-Metaphor in Catherine Pozzi’s Diaries

French poet and writer Catherine Pozzi is a remarkable figure of the late 19th century and the period between the World Wars In 1893 at the age of 13 she won a little notebook from her grandmother and started a diarywriting practice she maintained until the end of her life except for a few interruptions This research stands at the intersection between intellectual history and literary studies It is focused on the role played by the castaway image developed by Pozzi as a self-reflexive construction in her diary As a reflexive and metaphorical image her castaway s wreck draws from three main motifs which are noticeable in her self-referential discourse the sadness of an ill-fated love affair with one of the most celebrated men of French intelligentsia namely Paul Val ry the impact of tuberculosis on her body and a frustrated intellectual vocation Based on Hans Blumenberg s views about metaphors and dialoguing with his theoretical construction I sought to understand how a self-referential statement acts on a discourse by resorting to the textual composition of a metaphorical image in order to be capable of representing the experience of a painfully stimulated conscience This image emerges as an intimate and unique element which can be interpreted as Pozzi s entries accept the wreck image as the reflexive form of a metaphorical destin

Alergia alimentar ao trigo

Food allergy is the name given to the adverse reactions to foods that surround immunological mechanisms, resulting in a range of clinical manifestations. Wheat allergy develops when the body's immune system becomes sensitive and reacts immoderately to any of the wheat proteins. Allergic reaction is classified according to the immunological mechanism involved, may be measured by IgE, or by mixed reactions when they occur with the collaboration of mechanisms mediated with cytokines and proinflammatory T-lymphocytes, or by immunocomplexes, or cytotoxic reactions. Approximately 6% of children under the age of 3, and ∼ 4% of adults have allergic disorders caused by food. The present study aims to do a revision about food allergy to wheat, including its clinical manifestation, diagnoses and treatment. This monograph was performed in the reference databases Lilacs and Scielo using the following health descriptors: allergy, allergic reaction, and wheat. Regarding the treatment, the most efficient and guaranteed still is the absolute extraction of the allergen from the diet, which in the present case is wheat Taking into account the above considerations, this study verified the frequent concern about the development of food allergies worldwide and concludes the importance of new studies related to the treatment of allergy to wheat to reduce allergic reactions, maintain the nutritional state, and increase the quality of life

The mediating role of workaround behavior and the shadow IT usage in the relationship between job characteristics and individual performance

This research aimed to evaluate the effects of workaround behavior and the shadow IT usage as mediating variables in the relationship between job characteristics and individual performance. To achieve the objective, a survey was conducted with 415 IT users. Data analysis was performed using SPSS and SmartPLS softwares. The main results indicate that the effect of job characteristics on individual performance is explained by the mediating variables workaround behavior and the shadow IT usage. In addition, the relationship between job characteristics with the workaround behavior and the shadow IT usage were confirmed. Finally, it was confirmed that the workaround behavior and the shadow IT usage are positively related to individual performance. As theoretical contributions this study presents information about workaround behavior that has been little explored in Brazilian researches. In addition, there is a lack of researches that has assessed how the job characteristics influence alternative solutions in the organizations.Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo avaliar os efeitos do comportamento workaround e do uso da shadow IT como variáveis mediadoras da relação entre as características do trabalho e o desempenho individual. Para atingir o objetivo foi realizada uma survey com 415 usuários de TI. A análise de dados foi realizada nos softwares SPSS e SmartPLS e os principais resultados indicam que o efeito das características do trabalho no desempenho individual é explicado pelas variáveis mediadoras comportamento workaround e uso da shadow IT. Ademais foi comprovado que a variável independente características do trabalho impacta no comportamento workaround e no uso da shadow IT. Com relação a análise do desempenho individual, tanto o comportamento workaround quanto o uso da shadow IT apresentam-se positivamente relacionados com o desempenho individual. Como contribuições teóricas este estudo apresenta informações acerca do comportamento workaround que vem sendo pouco explorado nas pesquisas brasileiras. Além disso, identifica-se a ausência de pesquisas que tenham avaliado como as características do trabalho influenciam as práticas alternativas de trabalho

Olhar a diferença-resistência do feminino, em busca da borda do nada.

Dans l'histoire des genres marqués par trait autobiographiques, les modes de vie liées à l'identité masculine sont susceptibles de devenir la norme: les hommes incarnent l'humanité, les femmes restent piégés dans leur différence féminine. Le sujet du genre féminin qu'écrit est marqué par le désir de briser les attentes socialement reconnues et par une lutte personnelle contre les normalisés. Comme l'affirme S. Felman, la constitution du sujet féminin passe par l'hésitation d'assumer une différence qui apparaît avec la forme sociale de résistance (FELMAN, 1993, p. 3-19). Dans les recherches avec les revues de Catherine Pozzi et Aline De Lens, nous essayons précisément de comprendre ce que cette différence de résistance pourrait signifier, car il s'agit d'une situation circonstancielle (bien que malheureusement mise à jour de différentes manières) et que cette condition de déviation n'a aucune valeur ontologique. Après tout: du point de vue théorique, que dit cette différence de résistance?Na história dos gêneros marcados pelo traço autobiográfico, os modos de viver ligados à identidade masculina tendem a se tornar a norma:  homens encarnam a humanidade, as mulheres permanecem presas em sua diferença feminina. O sujeito do gênero feminino que escreve se vê marcado pelo desejo de quebrar a expectativa socialmente aprovada e por uma luta pessoal contra o normatizado. Como afirma S. Felman, a constituição do sujeito feminino perpassa a hesitação de assumir uma diferença que aparece com a forma social de uma resistência (FELMAN,1993, p. 3-19).  Na pesquisa com os diários de Catherine Pozzi e Aline De Lens, procuramos, justamente, compreender o que essa a diferença-resistência podia significar, uma vez que se trata de uma situação circunstanciada ( ainda que, infelizmente, atualizada de diferentes formas) e que essa condição de desvio não possui valor ontológico. Afinal: do ponto de vista teórico, que essa diferença-resistência tem a dizer
