Fala e falta: de Fiama Hasse Pais Brandão a Manuel António Pina (ou vice-versa)

Considering mainly Fiama Hasse Pais Brandão – especially her poem "Hora obscura" – and Manuel António Pina, this article proposes taking lack as the privileged place of the Portuguese poetry speech that is made since the decade of 1960 and is a heiress of the Modernism. Visiting other poetic voices (Fernando Pessoa, Mário de Sá-Carneiro, Luís Miguel Nava) and researchers such as Rosa Martelo and Jorge Fernandes da Silveira, we approach the notion of undecidability to apprehend what is simultaneously the obstacle and power of this (/these) writing(s).Debruçando-se sobre Fiama Hasse Pais Brandão – em especial, sobre seu poema “Hora obscura” – e Manuel António Pina, este artigo propõe a falta como lugar da fala da poesia portuguesa que se faz a partir dos anos de 1960 e é herdeira do Modernismo. Visitando outras vozes poéticas (Fernando Pessoa, Mário de Sá-Carneiro, Luís Miguel Nava) e pesquisadores como Rosa Martelo e Jorge Fernandes da Silveira, acercamo-nos da noção de indecidibilidade para apreender aquilo que é, simultaneamente, obstáculo e potência dessa(s) escrita(s)

Mímesis e a insubordinação da poesia

Este artigo objetiva evidenciar, de maneira simplificada, que a teoria mimética de Aristóteles sofreu leituras redutoras ao longo do tempo, levando a objeções equivocadamente fundamentadas à mímesis na arte. Com observações a respeito do funcionamento da paisagem marinha em textos de Ruy Belo e João Miguel Fernandes Jorge, busca-se argumentar que a poesia portuguesa moderna dialoga em diversos pontos com a teoria mimética tal como concebida pelo filósofo grego, ratificando sua atualidade

FALA, FALTA, FALHA: O ISTO DE MANUEL ANTÓNIO PINA

Este artigo investiga de que maneira o descompasso entre sujeito, mundo e poesia constrói, em Manuel António Pina, o conceito de falha, que se encontra intrinsecamente ligado à noção de falta e ao exercício da fala. A partir da observação desse trinômio falha/falta/fala, que atravessa e sustenta a obra do poeta, chegamos a outra ideia-chave – a de “isto” –, e concluímos que a ênfase nessa poesia está muito mais na relação (o salto da linguagem, que permeia toda a frase sem se condensar em uma só palavra) do que em um ou outro significante. This paper investigates how the gap between subject, world and poet builds, in Manuel António Pina’s work, the concept of fault, which is linked to the notion of lack and the exercise of speech. From the observation of the triad fault/lack/speech, which passes through and supports the work of the poet, we come to another key idea – the noun “isto”, wich means "it” or “this" – and conclude that the emphasis of this poetry is much more in the relationship than in one specific significant

Do texto medieval à obra oitocentista de Herculano: aspectos filológicos e literários de “A Dama Pé de Cabra”

A obra "A Dama Pé de Cabra" é uma narrativa ficcional portuguesa escrita por Alexandre Herculano no século XIX. Levando em consideração que a obra de Herculano foi baseada em um manuscrito do século XVI, mais particularmente um livro de linhagens que relata a história de gerações, o objetivo deste trabalho é investigar o que há de diferente entre a narrativa feita pelo autor português no século XIX e o texto base, dando ênfase à construção do personagem de Inigo Guerra como um herói romântico.Para isto, em um primeiro momento nos dedicamos a realizar um trabalho filológico com uma das cópias do "Livro de Linhagens do Conde D. Pedro",manuscrito que está disponível, em versão fac-similar, na Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal, através da elaboração de uma edição semidiplomática do texto, de acordo com as normas do "Projeto Para uma História do Português Brasileiro" (PHPB). A edição realizada será contrastada com a edição do texto base medieval para a obra "A Dama Pé de Cabra" que circula entre os estudiosos, elaborada por José Joaquim Nunes, publicada em "Crestomatia Arcaica", de 1906. Além do trabalho filológico, a fim de explorar aspectos literários do texto, propomos uma análiseacerca da trajetória heroica do filho do senhor de Biscaia, Dom Inigo, em sua saga para tentar salvar o seu pai da prisão. Para isto, discutimos o papel desse herói na micronarrativa das peripécias vividas por ele, que estão inseridas na macronarrativa que é "A Dama Pé de Cabra", apresentando a sua caminhada desde o nascimento até a consolidação do seu ato heroico.

Dredging impact on trace metal behavior in a polluted estuary: a discussion about sampling design

Studies involving coastal sediment resuspension have shown that trace metals could be released to the water column due to changes in physical-chemical conditions. Therefore, if environmental agencies adopt screening protocols with insufficient evaluations of contaminant mobilization risks for a given area, the prediction of environmental impacts caused by dredging may be limited. This work evaluates the influence of spatial variation on the geochemical mobility of trace metals (Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn) after artificial sediment resuspension, using as study case the Iguaçu River estuary (Guanabara Bay, Brazil). The Iguaçu River drains the industrial complex of the metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro State, besides the presence of agriculture and the input of untreated domestic wastes. Surface estuarine sediments were submitted to resuspension experiments in an open system, during 1h and 24h of agitation on local water. A clear tendency of metals’ solubilization was observed after resuspension, especially considering the dissolved concentrations of Cu (average: 8.0 µg L-1) and Zn (average: 0.9 mg L-1), especially for the samples from the transects 2 and 3. However, evaluations of water quality changes due to sediment resuspension are not requested by the legislation regulating the dredging activities. In the sediments, the results suggested a higher geochemical mobility of Cu, indicated by the massive increase on the bioavailable fraction after resuspension, mainly on the transect number 3, on the river’s mouth. The effects of resuspension were distinct between samples, suggesting that even in a small scale, important differences on metals’ mobility are found. Thus, the combined assessment of changes in metal concentrations in water and in the metal partitioning linked to the solid-phase was demonstrated to be a promising tool for predicting the environmental risks of dredging due to changes in the bioavailability of metals

Hands Up! Atypical Defensive Reactions in Heavy Players of Violent Video Games When Exposed to Gun-Attack Pictures

Threatening cues and surrounding contexts trigger specific defensive response patterns. Posturography, a technique for measuring postural strategies, has been used to evaluate motor defensive reactions in humans. When exposed to gun pointed pictures, humans were shown to exhibit an immobility reaction. Short and long-term exposure to violent video games was shown to be a causal risk factor for increased violent and aggressive behavior. Assaultive violence with a gun is a major trigger for motor defensive reactions, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is the most characteristic psychiatric sequelae. Recent studies point to links between PTSD symptoms and emotional shortfalls in non-clinical trauma-exposed samples. The present study investigated defensive reactions to gun threat and PTSD symptoms in heavy players of violent video games compared to non-players. Male university students were screened according to use of violent video games and divided in three groups: non-players, moderate players, and heavy players. Stimuli were pictures depicting a man pointing a gun directed at the participant. In matched control pictures, non-lethal objects replaced the gun. Posturography was recorded and PTSD symptoms were assessed. When exposed to the threat pictures, non-players exhibited the expected reduction in amplitude of body sway (immobility), heavy players presented atypical augmented amplitude of body sway, and moderate players showed intermediate reactivity. Heavy players presented a significant distinct reaction compared to non-players. They also scored significantly higher in PTSD symptoms than non-players. Disadvantageous defensive reactions and higher vulnerability to PTSD symptoms, revealed in the present study, add to other shortcomings for heavy players

Ruy Belo: corpo de si, corpos de outrem

The passage of time is one of the lines of strength of Ruy Belo's poetry. The aging process inscribes marks of death in the materiality of the subjects and of the world, in a mourning and ineluctable progress. In this article, we’ll make some comments about how the human body is a privileged place in Belian ethics, working as a critical space for denunciation of economic, social or political exploitation, and even more than that: it’s trough the overtoure of the subject to the other’s face that a belief may subsist, even after Aquele grande Rio Eufrates.
