As a result, this paper aims to evaluate and resolve the appropriateness and inappropriateness use of colour in interface design, and proposed an intelligent colour agent to automate the process of considering and minimising the selection of the appropriateness use of colours. It has been safely concluded that the intelligent colour agent is capable of performing its tasks positively in analysing and consulting the suitable colours to be used and intensify the information transformation to and from the users. The visibility of interfaces has been examined to promote the contrast display between the users and machines
Homosexuality: a femme perspective in sexual relationship
A fast-stead development of any countries of variables projects, high-rises souring the sky, would very much rooted down to its socio-cultural institutions and manpower development infrastructure capacity in parallel to the physical development components. However, in reality, socio-cultural and manpower institutions of most countries are not in reality, in parallel to its fast-stead development of such super-mega-development. The break-down of socio-cultural
institutions related to various multiples social ills and issues spreading uncontrolled like a virus beyond managed and monitored becoming a factor of synonym within the society and the community. Social ills that need to be brought to
serious attentions and arrested are the abnormal sexual relationship activities which are usually not easily observed but
have been absorbed un-aware within the social frameworks that would despoil the social and religious institutions. This study focusses on homosexual behavior amongst women between Pengkid/Butch and Femme also known as lesbianism. This study concentrates on venturing and evaluating Femme perspective on interpersonal relationship with Pengkid/Butch. A semi-structured interview has been conducted on 10 Malay respondents in and around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. The findings resulted in establishing the levels of the interpersonal relationship goes and its nature of activities in order to achieve an understanding on this group and mitigation approach that suit to this kind of situations.
The findings of this study leads to new understanding on the behavior from the Femme as well as the duty and responsibility of community and affected Authorities and institutions to intervene these issues holisticall
Clinical and epidemiological features of AIDS/tuberculosis comorbidity
Considering the relevance of AIDS/tuberculosis comorbidity worldwide, especially in Brazil, this study was developed to describe the clinical and epidemiological features of the comorbid cases identified from 1989 to 1997 by the epidemiology service of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Universidade de São Paulo. METHODS: Databases containing information on all identified AIDS/tuberculosis cases cared for at the hospital were used to gather information on comorbid cases. RESULTS: During the period, 559 patients were identified as presenting with AIDS/tuberculosis comorbidity. Risk behavior for AIDS was primarily heterosexual contact (38.9%), followed by intravenous drug use (29.3%) and homosexual/bisexual contact (23.2%). Regarding clinical features, there were higher rates of extrapulmonary tuberculosis when compared to tuberculosis without comorbidity. There was an increase in reporting of AIDS by ambulatory units during the period. Epidemiologically, there was a decrease in the male/female ratio, a predominance in the 20 to 39 year-old age group, and a majority of individuals who had less than 8 years of schooling and had low professional qualifications. CONCLUSIONS: High rates of AIDS/tuberculosis cases at our hospital indicate the need for better attention towards early detection of tuberculosis, especially in its extrapulmonary form. Since the population that attends this hospital tends to be of a lower socioeconomic status, better management of AIDS and tuberculosis is required to increase the rates of treatment adherence and thus lower the social costs
Effects of brown rice powder addition on nutritional composition and acceptability of two selected Malaysian traditional rice-based local kuih
The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of brown rice (BR) powder addition
on the proximate composition, total dietary fibre content and acceptability of some selected
Malaysian traditional rice-based local kuih. Two types of kuih samples, namely Kuih Lompang
(KL) and Kuih Talam Pandan (KTP) were prepared at the levels of either 0%, 10%, 20% or
30%. The kuih samples were analyzed for nutritional composition and sensory acceptance.
There was significant increase in total dietary fibre content (from 2.64 g/100 g to 3.15 g/100
g) and protein content (from 2.36% to 2.51%) with the incorporation of 90% BR powder
in the KL formulation. The moisture (from 36.79% to 36.83%), ash (from 1.11% to 1.21%)
and fat (from 8.51% to 8.73%) content were not significantly affected for all percentages of
BR powder addition. For KTP, the addition of BR powder at the level of 90% significantly
increased the total dietary fibre (from 2.77 g/100 g to 3.45 g/100 g), fat (from 5.73% to 6.95%)
and moisture (from 64.10% to 64.12%) content as compared to the control (0%). However, the
protein content was not significantly affected (from 3.41% to 3.59%). On the other hand, there
was no significant difference for all sensory attributes of KL formulated with 30-90% of BR
powder as compared to the control (0%). The sensory score of KTP added with 30-90% BR
powder received significantly lower sensory score compared to the control sample (0%) for
appearance, colour, firmness, adhesiveness, chewiness, taste and overall acceptance attributes.
In summary, sensory evaluation showed that all BR-incorporated KL were acceptable, while
only 30% addition of BR powder in KTP was acceptable. Thus, BR powder is potentially used
in improving the nutritional composition of KL. However, further study is needed to improve
palatability aspect of KTP formulated with BR powder
Liver transplantation for acute liver failure due to antitubercular drugs – a single-center experience
OBJECTIVES: Patients receiving treatment for tuberculosis are at risk of developing acute liver failure due to the hepatotoxicity of antitubercular drugs. We aimed to describe our experience with liver transplantation from deceased donors in this situation. METHODS: We identified patients undergoing transplantation for acute liver failure due to antitubercular drugs in our prospectively maintained database. RESULTS: Of 81 patients undergoing transplantation for acute liver failure, 8 cases were attributed to antitubercular drugs during the period of 2006-2016. Regarding the time of tuberculosis treatment until the onset of jaundice, patients were on antitubercular drugs for a mean of 64.7 days (21-155 days). The model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score of patients ranged from 32 to 47 (median 38), and seven patients underwent transplantation under vasopressors. The 1-year survival was 50%. Three patients died during the week following transplantation due to septic shock (including a patient with acute liver failure due to hepatic/ disseminated tuberculosis), and the remaining patient died 2 months after transplantation due to pulmonary infection. There were 2 cases of mild rejection and 1 case of moderate rejection. Of the surviving patients, all were considered cured of tuberculosis after alternative drugs were given. CONCLUSION: Patients arrived very sick and displayed poor survival after deceased donor transplantation

Gender and ethnicity intersect to reduce participation at a large European hybrid HIV conference.
OBJECTIVE
To evaluate how gender and ethnicity of panel members intersect to effect audience participation at a large European hybrid conference.
DESIGN
An observational cross-sectional study design was used to collect data at the conference and descriptive survey was used to collect data retrospectively from the participants.
SETTING
European AIDS Clinical Society 18th Conference; a 3223-delegate, hybrid conference held online and in London over 4 days in October 2021.
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES
We observed the number and type of questions asked at 12 of 69 sessions and described characteristics of the panel composition by ethnicity, gender and seniority. A postconference survey of conference attendees collated demographic information, number of questions asked during the conference and the reasons for not asking questions.
RESULTS
Men asked the most questions and were more likely to ask multiple questions in the observed sessions (61.5%). People from white ethnic groups asked >95% of the questions in the observed sessions. The fewest questions were asked in the sessions with the least diverse panels in terms of both ethnicity and gender. Barriers to asking questions differed between genders and ethnicities.
CONCLUSIONS
Our study aims to provide evidence to help conference organisers improve leadership, equality, diversity and inclusion in the professional medical conference setting. This will support equitable dissemination of knowledge and improve education and engagement of delegates. To our knowledge, this is the first study describing conference participation by both ethnicity and gender in panellists and delegates within a hybrid conference setting
Appraising sense of community in designing senior housing for elderly quality of life
Malaysia's life expectancy may increase by 2030, where the ageing population aged above 65 years and over is growing faster than all other age groups. It is expected that this ageing population will be more than 15% of the total population in the year 2030, and this percentage likely to rise higher over the next three decades. The increasing longevity indicates the climbing numbers of surviving older people, who demand better living and Quality of Life (QoL) later in life and retirement concerning housing, transportation, social participation and health services. However, the most critical issue is the elderly living housing, namely in developed countries where many still lack proper physical environment to accommodate and improve community development among the elderly. Consequently, the rights for appropriate, adequate, decent, and good quality housing for ageing people in either quantitative or qualitative approaches are not well acknowledged. This paper aims to highlight community importance as the elderly require a solid community to promote active ageing and life satisfaction, which is vital to be implemented in their living environments like the elderly housing design planning layout and form making. To achieve this, the first objective of this paper is to identify the sense of community index among the elderly and second to propose the best elderly housing design concept in terms of spatial planning and form making, which considers the sense of community indexes that supports independent living to enhance the Quality of Life (QoL) for the ageing population. This study used the mix method approach where data are collected from case studies through literature review and direct observations. The sense of community index comprising membership, influence, fulfilment, and shared emotional connections are analyzed to see its correlation and representation in the current case study of senior housing spatial design in Malaysia. The findings indicate that for senior housing to have a sense of community, architectural qualities like identifiable forms and spatial values with connected, shared spaces either at horizontal or vertical levels and vast shared public spaces are essential. This study helps establish the best living concept for elderly housing as a reference for developers, policymakers, and designers to produce proper senior housing to enhance Quality of Life (QoL)
Hepatocyte growth factor enhances proteolysis and invasiveness of human nasopharyngeal cancer cells through activation of PI3K and JNK
AbstractThe hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) receptor, Met, is frequently overexpressed in nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC). Here, we showed for the first time that human NPC cells with high Met expression were more sensitive to the cell motility and invasion effect of HGF. The downregulation of Met by small interfering RNA decreased tumor cell invasion/migration. HGF significantly increased matrix metalloproteinase-9 production. This was inhibited by blocking phosphatidylinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) and c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), but not extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathways. We also demonstrated that PI3K induced activation of JNK, with Akt as a potential point of this cross-talk. These results provide new insights into the molecular mechanism responsible for NPC progression and metastasis
