Towards an authentic Islamic development model: Incorporating the roles of trust and leadership in the Islam – Iman – Ihsan paradigm

    Get PDF
Over half a century after Islamic economics, as constructed in the post-colonial search for a modern Muslim identity, claimed that a morality-based economic system, built on the axiomatic foundations of Islamic ontological thought, would achieve the social and political aims of Islam, Muslim lands are in a dire state of underdevelopment and chaos in which basic human rights are absent even though resources are not scarce. Therefore, it may be said, that this Islamic economic vision has failed to produce any desired effect. The question is, why? This research explores the ontological sources of Quran and Sunnah, aims to identify the reasons for the failure and, through the reformulation of a new authentic model, aims to present an Islamic development methodology which is holistic in nature and which transcends the limitations of the economic or political spheres. The resulting model encompasses the concept of trust and leadership in Islam and identifies the role and functioning of each one separately. This research, which is qualitative in nature and utilises the methods of discourse analysis and textual and contextual deconstruction, is structured around three major essays the first of which details the overall development model as the path of Islam-Iman-Ihsan (submission-faith-perfection), the second with the role of iman (faith) as the binding force in Islamic social order and the last details a new concept of Islamic leadership, drawn from the prophetic example, and outlines its specific functions to construct the environment in which Islamic development can be sustaine

It has been observed that professional and qualified teacher’s retention become a challenge for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Pakistan as the turnover rate has been significantly increased in recent years. The main objective of this paper is to access personal, push and pull factors and to find out that which factors contribute more to turnover intention. Primary data were collected from 100 teachers of 5 HEIs using questionnaire methods. The results indicate that all factors (personal, pull and push) have contributed in the employees’ turnover intentions. However, some facets of personal factor have significantly contributed in turnover intentions.Turnover, Higher Education Institution, Job Quit, Personal Factors, Push Factors, Pull Factors

Business entities around the globe are clamouring to catch up with the recent trend of the business world using information technology (IT) applications, such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM).For any business to reap the rewards of CRM initiatives, it has to have a proper plan for its implementation. However, these business entities have little knowledge regarding the critical success factors of CRM implementation and its impact to their organizations. This study, therefore, proposes the critical success factors of e-CRM implementation to the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).The success factors include operational and strategic benefits, top management support, technological readiness, and knowledge management capabilities. This study uses organization as unit of analysis with SMEs as the target population.Data will be gathered by using a cross-sectional survey approach

Kejuruteraan perisian kursus multimedia matematik berasaskan model kecerdasan pelbagai (MI-MathS)

Predictive genomics: A cancer hallmark network framework for predicting tumor clinical phenotypes using genome sequencing data

We discuss a cancer hallmark network framework for modelling genome-sequencing data to predict cancer clonal evolution and associated clinical phenotypes. Strategies of using this framework in conjunction with genome sequencing data in an attempt to predict personalized drug targets, drug resistance, and metastasis for a cancer patient, as well as cancer risks for a healthy individual are discussed. Accurate prediction of cancer clonal evolution and clinical phenotypes will have substantial impact on timely diagnosis, personalized management and prevention of cancer.Comment: 5 figs, related papers, visit lab homepage: http://www.cancer-systemsbiology.org, Seminar in Cancer Biology, 201

Investigation co Integration with Structural Breaks in Inflation, Real Wages and Productivity

    Get PDF
This document shows the research of real wages, inflation and labor productivity interrelationships using co integration, Granger-causality and, most of all, and structural break tests. Tests for  assessments to variable’s over the period of 1973-2007 time corroborate the presence use of a structural break in 1987 and states that a 1 percent improvement in manufacturing sector real wages led to a rise in manufacturing market productivity of between 0.5 and 0.8 percent. Very similar quotes for the result of inflation on manufacturing market productivity have restricted precise significance. Granger causality results recommend that real income and inflation both Granger-cause productivity in the long run

Dormant Account Reactivation at Al–Shajar Capital

The case study highlights the importance of finding a simple and cost effective solution to a core business problem. It elaborates the cost effective approach of Al-Shajar Capital’s Management in reactivating its dormant client base in order to capitalize the post Polling Stock Market rally. In order to analyze its dormant client base, Al-Shajar Capital remodeled the exercise as a capstone project and awarded it to final year MBA students of IoBM-CBM. The study used a modified form of Doreén Pick’s Customer win back model to reactivate customers’ accounts, not actively trading in the market. A five-week, non-scripted warm calling session was conducted, followed by a detailed report and formal presentation. Due to operational issues and human resource limitation, the exercise was conducted on weekends. The study was a success as not only it was able to revert and activate majority of dormant client accounts but also left a positive impression on many non-returning clients

A generic model for camera based intelligent road crowd control

    Get PDF
Traffic flow control is often a big problem in many big cities in the world, especially during the peak and off-peak hours. Researchers are trying to find the optimal solution to solve this daily problem. Often, the problem is caused by the poor traffic signal light control system. Improper placement of the signal light and timing is the main issue. The problem can be solved by proper time management for the traffic signal through the congested and often over crowded areas. This research proposes a model for intelligent traffic flow control by implementing camera based surveillance and feedback system. A series of cameras are set minimum three signals ahead from the target junction. The complete software system is developed to help integrating the multiple camera on road as feedback to the signal light control systems. Keywords: surveillance; traffic flow; network; vehicles
