    Get PDF
Compressing the speech reduces the data storage requirements, leading to reducing the time of transmitting the digitized speech over long-haul links like internet. To obtain best performance in speech compression, wavelet transforms require filters that combine a number of desirable properties, such as orthogonality and symmetry. The MCT bases functions are derived from GHM bases function using 2D linear convolution .The fast computation algorithm methods introduced here added desirable features to the current transform. We further assess the performance of the MCT in speech compression application. This paper discusses the effect of using DWT and MCT (one and two dimension) on speech compression. DWT and MCT performances in terms of compression ratio (CR), mean square error (MSE) and peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) are assessed. Computer simulation results indicate that the two dimensions MCT offer a better compression ratio, MSE and PSNR than DWT

    Get PDF
This paper present the stochastic analysis and performance evaluation of the thermal power plant which serve as an improvement of Vora 2011, by the use of performance evaluation using probabilistic approach. The research study consists mainly three sub-systems namely boiler, super heater and re-heater connected in series configuration with two type of preventive maintenance ie offline and online. The analysis shows that as failure rate increases, the availability decreases and as repair rate increases, the availability of the system increases and vice-versa. Performance matrices shows that Super heater subsystem is the most critical subsystem among the three subsystems in the power generation plant as far as maintenance is concern, as its availability percentage is the least among the three subsystem and boiler subsystem is having the higher percentage of availability with about 99% level. The results of the analysis are found beneficial to the plant management for the availability analysis of the system. Key words: Reliability, Availability, Maintainability

Handover process is a very essential process in the Global System for Mobile Communication system (GSM). Its study is one of the major key performance indicators in every GSM network, and its linked to the quality of service of an each service provider strives to attain. The failure of the handover process is regarded as the drop of quality of service which in turn dissatisfies the customers. This study, contributes more on improving call drop rate in general, reduce handover failure rate and thus save on upgrade costs, this will be beneficial to GSM service providers to easily optimize their network faults relating to the resource management. In this paper, dynamic guard channel algorithm is presented that was developed using JAVA Software. This algorithm prioritizes the handover calls over the new originated calls. All handover calls are ongoing calls and if they are dropped it causes frustrations. Matlab was used to compare simulated results to the other schemes by use of graphs and charts.  From this paper we were able to establish and come up with a definitive solution to the handover crisis befalling telecommunication companies

To study the effect of organic fertilization as compost (20 m3 fed-1), mineral Zinc-Nitrogen fertilization mixture (three Zinc levels (0, 8 and 16 kg Zn fed-1) and three nitrogen rates (0, 30 and 60 kg N fed-1 were mixed alternately) on growth, grain and straw yields, N, P and K uptake for rice crop (Oryza sativa), variety Giza 178, two field trials at El-Serw Agricultural Research Station, Damietta governorate were conducted through summer seasons of 2015 and 2016. Plant height, dry matter, grain and straw yields also, N, P and K-uptake in grain and straw yields increased with increasing levels of zinc and nitrogen fertilization. Moreover, use organic fertilization as compost gave the highest values of the previous parameters. Applying of 16 kg Zn fed-1 + 60 kg N fed-1 with 20 m3 compost fed-1 gave the highest plant height, dry matter, grain and straw yields and N, P and K-uptake in grain and straw. Therefore, it preferably adds 16 kg Zn fed-1 + 60 kg N fed-1 with 20 m3 compost fed-1 to produce a high crop of rice under saline soil condition in North Delta. Concerning to soil properties after rice harvest, mixture 16 kg Zn fed-1 + 60 kg N fed-1 with 20 m3 compost fed-1 surpassed all other treatments in improving soil properties, since available NPK and organic matter content had increased while soil EC and pH in the root zone was decreased

Diabetic kidney disease is an illness of the glomerulus that interferes with the glomerular filtration barrier (GFB), which is worked to enable kidney to selective purification of water and solutes in addition to limiting the movement of large macromolecules such as albumin. In the glomerular endothelium, mesangial cells, foot cells, and the brush border of the proximal tubules, ACE-2 is expressed and that the kidneys represent the highest-expressing region of this enzyme. Thus, the current study aimed to evaluate ACE-2 level in this case compared to healthy condition. The study Conducted with 120 male and female ranging in age (30-65) years old. Ninety patients with type 2 diabetes subdivided into three groups on the basis of ACR criteria including normoalbuminuria, microalbuminuria, macroalbuminuria (30 patients for each group) and 30 healthy people served as the control group, all visited Baghdad Teaching Hospital / Medical City and Al-Yarmouk Teaching Hospital, at the period between December 2021 and May 2022.  ACE-2 levels were determined using the ELISA technique. Urea results showed significant differences between diabetic nephropathy in patient and control group in female cases but no significant differences in male patients with diabetic nephropathy and control group. Similar results were obtained in K ion. Also the results revealed significant differences in Na ion, ACR, eGFR, Urea, FBS, creatinine between diabetic nephropathy groups and healthy group.ACE-2 represents a good marker for early prediction in diabetic nephropathy case. ROC data analysis support the importance of ACE-2 in diagnosis of the studied disease case.

Low speed aerodynamic characteristics of non-slender delta wing at low angles of attack

    Get PDF
Low-speed wind tunnel experiments are conducted to study the aerodynamic performance of a half-span delta wing with 45° leading-edge sweep at subsonic flow regime. The experiments are carried out at a Reynolds number of 8.37 × 105, a free-stream Mach number of 0.1 and angles of attack up to 25°, in steps of 5°. The test model was designed with thirty-two pressure taps fixed on its surfaces (sixteen on each side). Multi-tube manometers were connected to these taps using long tubes to enable recording the pressure readings. Surface pressure distributions and aerodynamic characteristics were calculated at different span-wise locations along the non-dimensional chord-wise distance. Results exhibited that most lift on the studied wing is generated in the region close to the leading edge for all the studied incidence angles. Additional lift is created in the region close to the root chord rather than the tip chord, whereas drag forces increases from tip to root. This can be attributed to the formation of trailing edge vortexes due to the flow separation at the wing leading edge that produces more drag, hence suppressing lift. The study showed also that angle of attack increases the drag coefficient from tip to root, especially at high angle of attack, indicating unfavourable behaviour for manoeuvring. Moreover, the angle of attack increased the pitching moment coefficient up to 10° before it drops sharply until it reaches the tip of the wing model.Peer Reviewe
