    PHYTOCHEMISTRY STUDY OF PLANTS BELONGING TO CAPPARIS

    Objectives:  Bioactive molecules have gained attention in recent time due to their diverse effects and their economic importance. The objective of current study was to isolate, analyze and identify the active constituents from leaves of C.   cartilaginea. Methods:  The powdered leaves were extracted with different solvents by using Soxhlet apparatus and carried out by different chromatographic techniques. The phytochemical characterizations were evaluated by nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectrometry. Results:  Three pure compounds were identified representing 1.6% of the total phytochemical composition. Yield of compounds 1, is Kaempferol  (6gm), compound 2, is Dihydroxy-lup-20(29)-en-28-oic acid (3.8gm) and compound 3, is β-Sitosterol (5gm).     Evolution of twist-three parton distributions in QCD beyond the large N_c limit

    We formulate a consistent 1/N_c^2 expansion of the QCD evolution equations for the twist-three quark distributions g_2(x,Q^2), h_L(x,Q^2) and e(x,Q^2) based on the interpretation of the evolution as a three-particle quantum-mechanical problem with hermitian Hamiltonian. Each distribution amplitude can be decomposed in contributions of partonic components with DGLAP-type scale dependence. We calculate the 1/N_c^2 corrections to the evolution of the dominant component with the lowest anomalous dimension - the only one that survives in the large-N_c limit - and observe a good agreement with the exact numerical results for N_c=3. The 1/N_c^2 admixture of operators with higher anomalous dimensions is shown to be concentrated at a few lowest partonic components and in general is rather weak.Comment: 14 pages, LaTeX style, 2 figure

    The NNLO non-singlet QCD analysis of parton distributions based on Bernstein polynomials

    A non-singlet QCD analysis of the structure function xF3xF_3 up to NNLO is performed based on the Bernstein polynomials approach. We use recently calculated NNLO anomalous dimension coefficients for the moments of the xF3xF_3 structure function in νN\nu N scattering. In the fitting procedure, Bernstein polynomial method is used to construct experimental moments from the xF3xF_3 data of the CCFR collaboration in the region of xx which is inaccessible experimentally. We also consider Bernstein averages to obtain some unknown parameters which exist in the valence quark densities in a wide range of xx and Q2Q^2. The results of valence quark distributions up to NNLO are in good agreement with the available theoretical models. In the analysis we determined the QCD-scale ΛQCD,Nf=4MSˉ=211\Lambda^ {\bar{MS}}_{QCD, N_{f}=4}=211 MeV (LO), 259 MeV (NLO) and 230 MeV (NNLO), corresponding to αs(MZ2)=0.1291\alpha_s(M_Z^2)=0.1291 LO, αs(MZ2)=0.1150\alpha_s(M_Z^2)=0.1150 NLO and αs(MZ2)=0.1142\alpha_s(M_Z^2)=0.1142 NNLO. We compare our results for the QCD scale and the αs(MZ2)\alpha_s(M_Z^2) with those obtained from deep inelastic scattering processes.Comment: 20 pages, 7 figures, published in JHE

    Geo-spatial reporting for monitoring of household immunization coverage through mobile phones: Findings from a feasibility study

    Background: The addition of Global Positioning System (GPS) to a mobile phone makes it a very powerful tool for surveillance and monitoring coverage of health programs. This technology enables transfer of data directly into computer applications and cross-references to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) maps, which enhances assessment of coverage and trends.Objective: Utilization of these systems in low and middle income countries is currently limited, particularly for immunization coverageassessments and polio vaccination campaigns. We piloted the use of this system and discussed its potential to improve the efficiency of field-based health providers and health managers for monitoring of the immunization program.Methods: Using 30×7 WHO sampling technique, a survey of children less than five years of age was conducted in random clusters of Karachi, Pakistan in three high risk towns where a polio case was detected in 2011. Center point of the cluster was calculated by the application on the mobile. Data and location coordinates were collected through a mobile phone. This data was linked with an automated mHealth based monitoring system for monitoring of Supplementary Immunization Activities (SIAs) in Karachi. After each SIA, a visual report was generated according to the coordinates collected from the survey.Result: A total of 3535 participants consented to answer to a baseline survey. We found that the mobile phones incorporated with GIS maps can improve efficiency of health providers through real-time reporting and replacing paper based questionnaire for collection of data at household level. Visual maps generated from the data and geospatial analysis can also give a better assessment of the immunizationcoverage and polio vaccination campaigns.Conclusion: The study supports a model system in resource constrained settings that allows routine capture of individual level data through GPS enabled mobile phone providing actionable information and geospatial maps to local public health managers, policy makers and study staff monitoring immunization coverage

    Adoption of JMM practices – A key to performance improvement of a local automotive industry

    It is imperative for a manufacturing company all over the world to constantly look for ways to increase productivity and at the same time to lower cost to secure a competitive position. It is recognized that practices associated with Japanese Manufacturing Management (JMM) can yield a superior competitive advantage in terms of productivity, quality and provide overall successful business performance. This paper discusses the transfer of the best practices of the JMM locally and analyses the impact of adoption and adaptation of the management system as an in-depth case study conducted in a Malaysian automotive company. This study is to identify what are the changes in terms of the philosophy and practices undertaken by the company and ascertain the impact of the JMM on its manufacturing and financial performances. The elements of business performance from the viewpoint of manufacturing are based on safety, Parts Per Million (PPM), in-line Defect per Unit (DPU), First Time Quality (FTQ), cycle time, productivity, efficiency and stock level. The results show a positive impact to the automotive plant manufacturing performance. For example, safety index has reduced to 0 major accident occurrences. The PPM and In-line DPU have improved by 98% and 91% respectively whereas the FTQ has improved by 167%. Cycle time has reduced from 20 to 6 minutes and productivity increased up to 43% whilst the efficiency reached at 99.9%. The stock level was reduced from half month to 3 days after the adoption of the JMM. The revenue has increased up to 92%, the percentage of expenses has reduced from 11.04% to 3.06% giving an improvement of 72% whilst the net profit has increased from 5.33% to 8.15%. The Return of Asset (RoA) and Return of Equity (RoE) also showed slight improvement despite the effects from the restructuring exercise, Tsunami calamity and fluctuation in Japanese exchange rate

    The Impact of Mobile Payment on the Financial Inclusion Rates

    In this paper, we discuss the impact of the mobile payment system on increasing financial inclusion ratios. We have followed the quantitative and analytical approach to test the studys hypotheses. A questionnaire was designed to consist of two dimensions and (22) questions. The study sample consisted of the Arab Bank and the Housing Bank and the multiple regression is used to test the collected data. The result of the regression equation showed a statistically significant effect of service price, the quality of the service, the ease of using service, and the security of the service provided through the mobile payment system, on the financial inclusion. It is shown that the mobile payment system plays an important role on increasing the financial inclusion rates and is recommended to be included in all banks operating in Jordan. Mobile money adoption, financial inclusion, and the substitutability of mobile money for traditional finance are among the challenges that need additional examination. Regulatory arrangements for institutions offering mobile money services are also highlighted

    Direct CP Violation Asymmetries in Exclusive B Decays in a Bethe-Salpeter Approach

    CP asymmetry in some exclusive decays of charged B meson are calculated in a Bethe-Salpeter approach. Hadronic final state interactions are ignored. Complex decay amplitudes are assumed to arise entirely from perturbative quark-antiquark loops. Calculations are done both with and without the gluon quark-antiquark vacuum polarization loops.     Evolution equation for the structure function g_2(x,Q^2)

    We perform an extensive study of the scale dependence of flavor-singlet contributions to the structure function g_2(x,Q^2) in polarized deep-inelastic scattering. We find that the mixing between quark-antiquark-gluon and three-gluon twist-3 operators only involves the three-gluon operator with the lowest anomalous dimension and is weak in other cases. This means, effectively, that only those three-gluon operators with the lowest anomalous dimension for each moment are important, and allows to formulate a simple two-component parton-like description of g_2(x,Q^2) in analogy with the conventional description of twist-2 parton distributions.
