A global perspective of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy.

    Get PDF
Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is a progressive inherited heart disease characterized by ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death especially in the young. ARVC has been traditionally associated with the Mediterranean basin, as many seminal studies on the disease have originated from research groups of this region. Today, however, numerous ARVC registries from all over the world emphasize that the disease does not have a specific racial or geographical predilection. This work provides a review on the global perspective of ARVC

Using Prediction ML algorithm for predicting early Student Attrition in Higher Education

    Get PDF
This research aims at using predictive models that enable us to predict students who are at risk of dropping out and identify the factors that possibly lead to this dropout. Through the results obtained, concerned stakeholders will be able to effectively develop strategies and initiatives to help decrease the percentage of students’ attrition. There are different reasons why students drop from their courses which could be related to academic issues or personal issues that stop them from being active students. Due to these many reasons of students dropping out, universities are impacted negatively in terms of the financial costs as they lose an amount of money from those students, and sometimes they lose the funds from public sponsors to major activities in universities. The proposal aims at exploring the various reasons that influence students’ decision to withdraw and what will be the best model for the prediction. I will use data from the open-source Kaggle and use Python to explore and preprocess the data. I will also use Tableau for getting visual insights from the available dataset

Tuning into one's feelings and understanding others help to build and strengthen relationships in classrooms. This paper looks at the effect of training emotional intelligence in schools and the outcome of conducting such training on the performance of students as well as the school environment. The research covered 65 teachers in three major secondary girls’ schools in Dhufar Governate, making it the first study carried out in this field. The research adopted a deductive approach using a combination of questionnaires, observation as well as focus groups. The findings revealed a relationship between training emotional intelligence and the level of EI of the participants. As such EI training increased the level of EI for the participant's over’s a span of one academic year

    Get PDF
Most published research on information and communication technology (ICT) application has been in the context of advanced economies of the world, particularly western countries, viz. Europe and North America. Research on ICT impact on socio-economic development has been primarily focused on eastern Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Relatively little research has been published on ICT in the Arab world. But better appreciation of the role of Arab culture on ICT use may help in providing guidance for more successful implementation of ICT in the future. To help ascertain this role we reviewed the literature between 2003 and 2016 focusing on ICT implementation in Arabic speaking countries

An efficient and functional triage system, is a successful strategy adopted at various health care facilities in combating against the COVID-19 pandemic. It helps to reduce exposure to the infection and ensures safety of health care workers, patients and visitors. The aim of the study was to observe the effectiveness of triage practice, at Yarmouk Primary Health Care Center, Kuwait. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted during February 2019, to December 2020 at the Yarmouk Primary Health Care Center clinics, Kuwait. A triage-based health care delivery model, with rate of overall service usage, were compared before and during the application of triage during COVID-19 pandemic. The control period was from February to December 2019, when the center was working under normal circumstances. Crisis period was from February to December 2020. Data was collected from the primary care information service, Ministry of Health database, for Yarmouk PHCC activities and service utilization pattern, from February 2019 till December 2020. Due to application of triage system, total number of patient visits were reduced from 151,886 patients in 2019 (pre-Covid) to 72,454 patients in 2020 (CoVID-pandemic), that is 75% reduction in patients visit. The employees were screened 9,511 times for possible COVID-19 symptoms. None of the employees got COVID at workplace because of the effective triage system. Those who got infected with COVID-19 had the exposure from outside workplace. In addition, 105 written reports and a daily follow-up schedule were written. Appointment links were used 102,256 times across various clinics and departments. The link to issue medical reports was used more than 330 times, and more than 70 medical reports were issued. The Chronic Medicines Refill link was used 868 times. Tele-consultation and online consultation were significantly increased, with no change in patient's satisfaction. Applying well planned and monitored triage system at Yarmouk PHCC prioritized services and ensure safety of doctors, staff, patients and visitors, without compromising quality not patient satisfaction
