XML has become the standard way for representing and transforming data over the World Wide Web. The problem with XML documents is that they have a very high ratio of redundancy, which makes these documents demanding large storage capacity and high network band-width for transmission. Because of their extensive use, XML documents could be retrieved according to vague queries by naive users with poor background in writing XPath query. The aim of this thesis is to present the design of a system named “XML Compressing and Vague Querying (XCVQ)” which has the ability of compressing the XML document and retrieving the required information from the compressed version with less decompression required according to vague queries. XCVQ first compressed the XML document by separating its data into containers and then compress these containers using the GZip compressor. The compressed file could be retrieved if a vague query is submitted without the need to decompress the whole file. For the purpose of processing the vague queries, XCVQ decomposes the query according to the relevant documents and then a second decomposition stage is made according to the relevant containers. Only the required information is decompressed and submitted to the user. To the best of our knowledge, XCVQ is the first XML compressor that has the ability to process vague queries. The average compression ratio of the designed compressor is around 78% which may be considered competitive compared to other queriable XML compressors. Based on several experiments, the query processor part had the ability to answer different kinds of vague queries ranging from simple exact match queries to complex ones that require retrieving information from several compressed XML documents.EThOS - Electronic Theses Online ServiceGBUnited Kingdo

Over the last two decades, large quantities of products, such as medicines, disinfectants, and personal care products, have been released into surface waters and wastewater treatment facilities by the pharmaceutical and chemical industries which have come to the attention of scientists with regard to their impacts on life in lakes, rivers, and groundwater. Among various types of treatment processes, ultrasonic (US) treatment process was used in this study to investigate the effect catalysts and removal of selected pharmaceutical’s (PhACs) compounds (ibuprofen (IBP) and sulfamethoxazole (SMX)). Carbon nanomaterials (CNMs) have become candidates for numerous applications in nanocomposites, microelectric devices, sensors, energy storage, microelectronics, biomedicines, and mechanical resonators. However, a key challenge is how to enhance the dispersion and stabilization of CNMs in water. The stabilization and dispersion of target CNMs was reviewed to address the effects of water quality conditions (pH, ionic strength, and temperature), natural/synthetic dispersing agents, and the effects of ultrasonication, acidification, and/or UV irradiation on dispersion and stabilization. Sonocatalytic degradation experiments were carried out to determine the removal effects on IBP and SMX in the presence of various types of catalysts including single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs), glass beads, and two fly ashes (Belews Creek fly ash and Wateree Station fly ash). In addition, the removal of the IBP/SMX and the production of hydrogen peroxide H2O2 was measured in the absence and the presence of the mentioned catalysts under different conditions; pH (3.5, 7, and 9.5), frequency (28, 580, and 1000 kHz), temperature (15, 25, 35, and 55°C) and power intensity (0.045, 0.09, 0.135, and 0.18 WmL-1). Furthermore, the adsorption analysis between these pharmaceuticals and SWNTs was performed by molecular modeling and validated with the experimental results. Overall, the sonocatalytic degradation of IBP and SMX fitted pseudo first-order rate kinetics and the synergistic indices of all the reactions were determined to compare the efficiency of the catalysts

In this study, it was aimed to determine some physiological effects of CuO nanoparticle on C. demersum. The plants were collected from an uncontaminated pond in Gaziantep province. Different concentrations of CuO (0, 25, 50, 100 and 200 mg/L) were applied to the macrophytes after being acclimatized in controlled conditions. Some analyses were made on macrophytes harvested at the end of the application. The contents of protein, total carbohydrate, photosynthetic pigment, total phenolic compound, non-protein sulfhydryl groups of tissues increased with increasing CuO concentration under the influence of applied CuO concentrations. In addition, increases in hydrogen peroxide and MDA contents were also detected. As a result, it was determined that the applied CuO concentrations caused some physiological changes in C. demersum tissues

The Aim of the study was determine the relationship between the pres- ence of Helicobacter pylori infection and the level of S. ferritin using Im- munofluorescence assay method. Methods The study was conducted between (November) 2023 and (February) 2024, where the study was conducted on (100) patients both males 58% and females 42% in the city of Samawah, Iraq, suffering from symptoms of H. pylori. Results showed that 81 patients were confirmed to be infected with H. pylori 54.32% male and 45.67% female. The study also showed that 74.07% of the patients with H. pylori infection suffered from a ferritin deficiency anemia the levels of S. ferritin was between 2.77 - 18.85 ng/ml for male and 0.5 - 12.79 ng/ml for female, and 25.92% of patients they have H. pylori infection but with normal levels of S. ferritin 34.11 - 218.73 ng/ml for male and 22.61 – 81.57 ng/ml for female. This decrease in S. ferritin levels is due Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding which is due to necrosis and ulceration of the wall lining the upper part of the digestive system by H.pylori. Other 19 patients had no bacterial infection identified in their serum their levels of S. Ferritin was 30.63 – 310.25 ng/ml for male and 15.01 – 124.14 ng/ml for female therefore, this levels within the normal rang

The optimization field is the process of solving an optimization problem using an optimization algorithm. Therefore, studying this research field requires to study both of optimization problems and algorithms. In this paper, a hybrid optimization algorithm based on differential evolution (DE) and grey wolf optimizer (GWO) is proposed. The proposed algorithm which is called “MDE-GWONM” is better than the original versions in terms of the balancing between exploration and exploitation. The results of implementing MDE-GWONM over nine benchmark test functions showed the performance is superior as compared to other stat of arts optimization algorithm

The ability to remove perchlorate anions was investigated by the adsorption technique in a laboratory scale and by a batch type unit from contaminated aqueous solutions prepared at specific concentrations. The adsorption process was carried out using banana peels, which were chosen as an available, cheap, and low-cost adsorption media. The studied operating conditions in the treatment process were the acidic function, shaking speed, contact time, temperature, in addition to the initial concentration of perchlorate, which ranging from 1-10, 100-400 rpm, 10-180 min, 20-50 ÂşC, 50-1000 ppb respectively, while the dose of adsorbent media ranged between 0.5-6 g and the particle size ranged from 0-Pan. The experimental results showed that the removal efficiency of perchlorate changes directly with the shaking speed, contact time, particle size and the dose of adsorbent, while it was inversely with the remaining variables for certain levels. Thus, two types of contaminants were disposed of simultaneously in a beneficial, and eco- friendly manner, reaching to Zero Residue Level (ZRL)

This article presents a new design of a four-pole microstrip filtering antenna. The filtering antenna consists of a bandpass filter, which has four resonators integrated to a monopole patch antenna. The filtering antenna is designed with a relatively high bandwidth of about 1.22 GHz to satisfy a high-speed data transmission. Three types of dielectric substrate materials were used for the design of the filtering antenna, which is RT/Duroid 5880, RO3003, and FR-4. The simulation results of the filtering antenna design, which are established on the three different dielectric substrate materials, are done by using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) software. Comparison results of the filtering antenna that is established on the three different dielectric substrate materials are done at a fixed substrate height and different substrate heights. The filtering antenna is designed at a center frequency f0 = 2.412 GHz, which is suitable for WLAN applications

To damp the low-frequency oscillations which occurred due to the disturbances in the electrical power system, the generators are equipped with Power System Stabilizer (PSS) that provide supplementary feedback stabilizing signals. The low-frequency oscillations in power system are classified as local mode oscillations, intra-area mode oscillation, and interarea mode oscillations. A suitable PSS model was selected considering the low frequencies oscillation in the inter-area mode based on conventional PSS and Fuzzy Logic Controller. Two types of (FIS) Mamdani and suggeno were considered in this paper. The software of the methods was executed using MATLAB R2015a package
