Orthogonality Relations and Supercharacter Formulas of U(m|n) Representations
In this paper we obtain the orthogonality relations for the supergroup
U(m|n), which are remarkably different from the ones for the U(N) case. We
extend our results for ordinary representations, obtained some time ago, to the
case of complex conjugated and mixed representations. Our results are expressed
in terms of the Young tableaux notation for irreducible representations. We use
the supersymmetric Harish-Chandra-Itzykson-Zuber integral and the character
expansion technique as mathematical tools for deriving these relations. As a
byproduct we also obtain closed expressions for the supercharacters and
dimensions of some particular irreducible U(m|n) representations. A new way of
labeling the U(m|n) irreducible representations in terms of m + n numbers is
proposed. Finally, as a corollary of our results, new identities among the
dimensions of the irreducible representations of the unitary group U(N) are

The Large- Limit of the Two-Hermitian-matrix model by the hidden BRST method
This paper discusses the large N limit of the two-Hermitian-matrix model in
zero dimensions, using the hidden BRST method. A system of integral equations
previously found is solved, showing that it contained the exact solution of the

Impact data from a transport aircraft during a controlled impact demonstration
On December 1, 1984, the FAA and NASA conducted a remotely piloted air-to-ground crash test of a Boeing 720 transport aircraft instrumented to measure crash loads of the structure and the anthropomorphic dummy passengers. Over 330 time histories of accelerations and loads collected during the Full-Scale Transport Controlled Impact Demonstration (CID) for the 1-sec period after initial impact are presented. Although a symmetric 1 deg. nose-up attitude with a 17 ft/sec sink rate was planned, the plane was yawed and rolled 13 deg. at initial (left-wing) impact. The first fuselage impact occurred near the nose wheel well with the nose pitched down 2.5 deg. Peak normal (vertical) floor accelerations were highest in the cockpit and forward cabin near the nose wheel well and were approximately 14G. The remaining cabin floor received normal acceleration peaks of 7G or less. The peak longitudinal floor accelerations showed a similar distribution, with the highest (7G) in the cockpit and forward cabin, decreasing to 4G or less toward the rear. Peak transverse floor accelerations ranged from about 5G in the cockpit to 1G in the aft fuselage
New Observational Bounds to Quantum Gravity Signals
We consider a new set of effects arising from the quantum gravity corrections
to the propagation of fields, associated with fluctuations of the spacetime
geometry. Using already existing experimental data, we can put bounds on these
effects that are more stringent by several orders of magnitude than those
expected to be obtained in astrophysical observations. In fact these results
can be already interpreted as questioning the whole scenario of linear (in
) corrections to the dispersion relations for free fields in Lorentz

Field-enlarging transformations and chiral theories
A field-enlarging transformation in the chiral electrodynamics is performed.
This introduces an additional gauge symmetry to the model that is unitary and
anomaly-free and allows for comparison of different models discussed in the
literature. The problem of superfluous degrees of freedom and their influence
on quantization is discussed. Several "mysteries" are explained from this point

The eccentric short-period orbit of the supergiant fast X-ray transient HD 74194 (=LM Vel)
Aims. We present the first orbital solution for the O-type supergiant star HD
74194, which is the optical counterpart of the supergiant fast X-ray transient
IGR J08408-4503. Methods. We measured the radial velocities in the optical
spectrum of HD 74194, and we determined the orbital solution for the first
time. We also analysed the complex H{\alpha} profile. Results. HD 74194 is a
binary system composed of an O-type supergiant and a compact object in a
short-period ( d) and high-eccentricity ()
orbit. The equivalent width of the H{\alpha} line is not modulated entirely
with the orbital period, but seems to vary in a superorbital period

The Galactic O-Star Spectroscopic Survey (GOSSS). II. Bright Southern Stars
We present the second installment of GOSSS, a massive spectroscopic survey of
Galactic O stars, based on new homogeneous, high signal-to-noise ratio, R ~
2500 digital observations from both hemispheres selected from the Galactic
O-Star Catalog (GOSC). In this paper we include bright stars and other objects
drawn mostly from the first version of GOSC, all of them south of delta = -20
degrees, for a total number of 258 O stars. We also revise the northern sample
of paper I to provide the full list of spectroscopically classified Galactic O
stars complete to B = 8, bringing the total number of published GOSSS stars to
448. Extensive sequences of exceptional objects are given, including the early
Of/WN, O Iafpe, Ofc, ON/OC, Onfp, Of?p, and Oe types, as well as
double/triple-lined spectroscopic binaries. The new spectral subtype O9.2 is
also discussed. The magnitude and spatial distributions of the observed sample
are analyzed. We also present new results from OWN, a multi-epoch
high-resolution spectroscopic survey coordinated with GOSSS that is assembling
the largest sample of Galactic spectroscopic massive binaries ever attained.
The OWN data combined with additional information on spectroscopic and visual
binaries from the literature indicate that only a very small fraction (if any)
of the stars with masses above 15-20 M_Sol are born as single systems. In the
future we will publish the rest of the GOSSS survey, which is expected to

Phenomenological description of quantum gravity inspired modified classical electrodynamics
We discuss a large class of phenomenological models incorporating quantum
gravity motivated corrections to electrodynamics. The framework is that of
electrodynamics in a birefringent and dispersive medium with non-local
constitutive relations, which are considered up to second order in the inverse
of the energy characterizing the quantum gravity scale. The energy-momentum
tensor, Green functions and frequency dependent refraction indices are
obtained, leading to departures from standard physics. The effective character
of the theory is also emphasized by introducing a frequency cutoff. The
analysis of its effects upon the standard notion of causality is performed,
showing that in the radiation regime the expected corrections get further
suppressed by highly oscillating terms, thus forbiding causality violations to

Spectroscopic and photometric analysis of the early-type spectroscopic binary HD 161853 in the centre of an H II region
We study the O-type star HD 161853, which has been noted as a probable
double-lined spectroscopic binary system. We secured high-resolution spectra of
HD 161853 during the past nine years. We separated the two components in the
system and measured their respective radial velocities for the first time. We
confirm that HD 161853 is an 1 Ma old binary system consisting of an O8 V
star ( M) and a B1--3 V star ( M) at about 1.3 kpc. From the radial velocity curve, we measure an
orbital period = 2.667650.00001 d and an eccentricity =
0.1210.007. Its -band light curve is constant within 0.014 mag and does
not display eclipses, from which we impose a maximum orbital inclination
deg. HD 161853 is probably associated with an H II region and a poorly
investigated very young open cluster. In addition, we detect a compact emission
region at 50 arcsec to HD 161853 in 22m-WISE and 24m-Spitzer images,
which may be identified as a dust wave piled up by the radiation pressure of
