    Reliability and Its Quantitative Measures

    Get PDF
In this article is made an opening for the software reliability issues, through wide-ranging statistical indicators, which are designed based on information collected from operating or testing (samples). It is developed the reliability issues also for the case of the main reliability laws (exponential, normal, Weibull), which validated for a particular system, allows the calculation of some reliability indicators with a higher degree of accuracy and trustworthinessReliability Statistical Indicator, Cdf - Cumulative Distribution Function, Pdf - Probability Density Function, Reliability Function R(T), Weibull Law, Rayleigh Statistical Law, Sampling Plan, Average Lifetime, Testing Time

Some Characteristics of the New Enterprises and the Profile of New Entrepreneurs

    Get PDF
The implementation of a scientific management generating performances that can lead the sector of SMEs to the requests of the Lisbon Strategy, cannot be completed without the existence of well-trained entrepreneurs, capable to improve their skills in modern management, thus leading to competitive results in a highly competitive market. The analysis performed by this research allows us to formulate, synthetically, strengths and weaknesses in the entrepreneurial evolution during the 1995-2007period.new enterprise; entrepreneur; new enterprise foundation rate; the entrepreneur’s socio-professional profile; the entrepreneur’s level of education.

The Risk of Operational Incidents in Banking Institutions

    Get PDF
Banking-financial institutions are organizations which might be included in the category of complex systems. Consequently, they can be applied after adaptation and particularization, in the general description and assessment methods of the technical or organizational systems. The banking-financial system faces constrains regarding the functioning continuity. Interruptions in continuity as well as operational incidents represent risks which can lead to the interruption of financial flows generation and obviously of profit. Banking incidents include from false banknote, cloned cards, informatics attacks, false identity cards to ATM attacks. The functioning of banking institutions in an incident-free environment generates concern from both risk assessment and forecasting points of view.operational risk, banking reliability, complex systems, incident probability, the risk of functioning interruption

ON A MODEL REGARDING THE PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE

    Get PDF
In this paper we analyze a modified model for the so-called PLC – Product Life Cycle, the original model being proposed by N. Al. Pop (2000). This PLC is considered here from a reliability theory viewpoint: our modification lies in the fact that the PLC - curve is transformed in a probability density function which allows the application of statistical inferential procedures.average sales, PLC – Product Life Cycle, PLC – curve, Pop’s model, reparametrization, pdf – probability density function.

Possible errors in establishing the sample dimensions of survey investigations

    Get PDF
Starting from the „rough” use of 1,500-1,800 subject samples in field researches with populations of the dimensions of a medium town, a capital or an entire country, which generates doubts and possible questions related to the representativeness of the investigated samples as well as to the conclusions of these researches, we developed the reconstruction of the necessary interactions in determining the sample volume, and also identified some inadvertencies. Some improvements solutions were also recommended.confidence interval, distribution laws, probable error, representativeness, sample volume.

A Statistical Approach to Brand Positioning

    Get PDF
In this work, we discuss the concept of brand and, after a brief presentation of the origins of it and its relationship with trademarks and quality marks, we propose a new perceptual map to compare two similar brands. This perceptual map is inspired by a scheme used in quality control, specifically in the capability of a technological process evaluation problem. We advance also a proposal to use so-called "deprivation index" (belonging to Townsend) which may be considered as a fraction defective in judging the quality of a certain system. Relevant references related to these ideas are also given in the text.brand, SQC methods, perceptual map deprivation index, fraction defective.

INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL COMPONENTS AS CAUSES OF REGIONAL DISPARITIES. A CASE STUDY IN ROMANIA

    Get PDF
Starting from a Logit model developed in the past we try to provide empirical support for counties disparities regarding intellectual capital factor influence. The study presents some correlation between economic performance, structure of activity in the county and intellectual components: human capital, organizational capital and customer capital. Because of various differences between counties we may consider that specific models are more indicated to analyze local behaviour. Also the results can give important information about association of counties by factor development and can also show the gaps between administrative organization forms with main purpose: a future more efficient investment and developmentintellectual capital, logit model, human capital, SME, structural capital, counties disparities
