    Get PDF
The relevance of the study is due to the crisis of modern pension insurance systems and the need to change the paradigm of pension legislation development. The purpose of the study is to identify the features of the formation of legislation on pension insurance in several countries (France, Great Britain, and Russia) at the initial stage of development (before 1914). The novelty is expressed both in the formulation of the problem and in the research methodology (the choice of countries and the period of research, the justification for the use of methods: dialectics, analysis, synthesis, system-structural, sociological, statistical, historical-legal, comparative-legal, formal-legal). The result of the study was the conclusions about the historical conditionality of the peculiarities of the formation of legislation on pension insurance in a particular country. There was early legalization of both voluntary and compulsory pension insurance in France. There was no legislation on pension insurance in the UK during the period under review, despite the early development of relevant institutions in the framework of workshops, guilds, and later in the framework of trade unions and “friendly societies”. In Russia, due to the agrarian nature of the economy, pension insurance did not develop within the framework of workshops and guilds; there were no laws on insurance in case of old age by 1914, while the risks of disability and loss of the breadwinner were regulated by law.

Use of accelerated helium-3 ions for determining oxygen and carbon impurities in some pure materials

    Get PDF
Methods are developed for the determination of O impurity in Be and Si carbide and concurrent determination of C and O impurities in Si and W by irradiation with accelerated He-3 ions and subsequent activity measurements of C-11 and F-18 formed from C and O with the aid of a gamma-gamma coincidence spectrometer. Techniques for determining O in Ge and Ga arsenide with radiochemical separation of F-18 are also described

The preventive destruction of a hazardous asteroid

    Get PDF
One means of countering a hazardous asteroid is discussed: destruction of the object using a nuclear charge. Explosion of such an asteroid shortly before its predicted collision would have catastrophic consequences, with numerous highly radioactive fragments falling onto the Earth. The possibility of exploding the asteroid several years before its impact is also considered. Such an approach is made feasible because the vast majority of hazardous objects pass by the Earth several times before colliding with it. Computations show that, in the 10 years following the explosion, only a negligible number of fragments fall onto the Earth, whose radioactivity has substantially reduced during this time. In most cases, none of these fragments collides with the Earth. Thus, this proposed method for eliminating a threat from space is reasonable in at least two cases: when it is not possible to undergo a soft removal of the object from the collisional path, and to destroy objects that are continually returning to near-Earth space and require multiple removals from hazardous orbits

Idiomatic equivalents in terms of metaphoric transfer

    Get PDF
The article presents a hermeneutic approach to idiomatic equivalents in terms of metaphoric transfer. Metaphor is viewed by the authors in its broad sense that can be applied to any use of words in an indirect meaning. Hence, an idiom is understood as a verbalized metaphor that reflects both the universal and specific features of a given language. Idiomatic equivalence that traditionally refers to the linguistic properties of the idiom is presented in the article as hermeneutic equivalence based on the thinking activity approach. Within the framework of such approach the idiomatic equivalence highlights the transfer from one culture to another way of thinking and thinking activity organization

Audiovisual content analysis in the translation process

The article presents a comprehensive approach to the process of audiovisual translation that includes application of multimodal analysis of semiotic codes present in audiovisual productions. The article dwells on how the proposed approach can be applied to analyzing audiovisual productions for different types of audiovisual translation. Due to its multimodal nature, an audiovisual production is understood by the authors as an audiovisual text that combines image, sound and verbal means, that is, different modes conveying meaning. The means of conveying meaning in an audiovisual production include the visual non-verbal elements, visual verbal elements as well as audio non-verbal and verbal elements. The priority of these means of meaning transfer and their interaction in meaning generation differ significantly depending on the genre of audiovisual productions and the specifics of the process of its creation

Scientific relevance. Lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels with statins is a generally accepted standard treatment for dyslipidaemia. However, adverse reactions and intolerance to statins have motivated the search for lipid-modifying agents with alternative mechanisms of action. Bempedoic acid is one of these alternative agents.Aim. The study aimed to review published data on the mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, safety and efficacy of bempedoic acid used as a lipid-lowering agent.Discussion. Similar to statins, bempedoic acid inhibits cholesterol synthesis from acetyl-CoA. Statins and bempedoic acid differ in their mechanisms of action mainly because the conversion of bempedoic acid into its active metabolite takes place only in the liver. As a result, bempedoic acid does not cause adverse drug reactions in muscles. The main safety and efficacy data on bempedoic acid were obtained in phase III CLEAR trials. Compared to placebo, bempedoic acid reduced LDL-C levels by an additional 18% in combination with maximum tolerated doses of statins and by 25% in monotherapy in patients with statin intolerance. In the CLEAR Outcomes trial, long-term treatment with bempedoic acid reduced the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in patients with statin intolerance (n=13970) by 13%. A slight increase in gout attack frequency was observed, primarily in patients with pre-existing hyperuricaemia.Conclusions. Therefore, bempedoic acid is a safe and effective treatment option for patients with dyslipidaemia at high risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. It can be used either in combination with statins or, in the case of statin intolerance, as monotherapy and with ezetimibe

The transformation of the cultural memory through a prism of the Cyberspace

    Get PDF
The paper considers the analysis of the cultural memory, which at the beginning of the XXI century underwent essential changes. The beginning of the memory research as a special phenomenon belongs to the Russian scientist, Nikolaj Miljukov [1] who has proved the emergence of social memory with the emergence of the intellectuals. In the article “Intellectuals and Historical Tradition”, Miljukov emphasizes the importance of social memory for the forward positive development of society. Since Halbwachs social memory gets the status of the independent research project. At the end of the XIX century the main theoretical concepts of social memory are formed: cultural and historical, semiotics, informational, psychological. The beginning of the third millennium is marked by the basic change of research trajectories of social memory. Specific research projects are put in the forefront. Such articles can be used as an example. The main research objective consists in the identification of the sociocultural bases of the transformation of social memory research. In modern investigations of the cultural memory, this phenomenon finds the new paradigmatic characteristics, which are fully submitted in the modern Internet space
