Equality in the Age of the Internet: Websites under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act
Under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, no individual shall be discriminated against on the basis of disability in the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations of any place of public accommodation. Currently, courts are split on whether websites are places of public accommodation under Title III. There are two predominant methods to determining whether a website is a place of public accommodation: (1) the nexus test, under which websites are places of public accommodation only if a sufficient nexus exists between the website and a physical place; (2) websites are places of public accommodation regardless of a nexus to a physical place. The circuit split highlights the need for the Department of Justice (DOJ) to pass the Title III regulations for websites to provide direct guidance for businesses and courts. The DOJ was expected to release Title III regulations for websites in 2016, but have pushed back the expected release to 2018. Regardless of when, or if, the DOJ releases Title III regulations for websites, companies would benefit from using the many resources available to make their websites accessible as soon as possibl
Online Local Volatility Calibration by Convex Regularization with Morozov's Principle and Convergence Rates
We address the inverse problem of local volatility surface calibration from
market given option prices. We integrate the ever-increasing flow of option
price information into the well-accepted local volatility model of Dupire. This
leads to considering both the local volatility surfaces and their corresponding
prices as indexed by the observed underlying stock price as time goes by in
appropriate function spaces. The resulting parameter to data map is defined in
appropriate Bochner-Sobolev spaces. Under this framework, we prove key
regularity properties. This enable us to build a calibration technique that
combines online methods with convex Tikhonov regularization tools. Such
procedure is used to solve the inverse problem of local volatility
identification. As a result, we prove convergence rates with respect to noise
and a corresponding discrepancy-based choice for the regularization parameter.
We conclude by illustrating the theoretical results by means of numerical
tests.Comment: 23 pages, 5 figure
Fast traffic sign recognition using color segmentation and deep convolutional networks
The use of Computer Vision techniques for the automatic
recognition of road signs is fundamental for the development of intelli-
gent vehicles and advanced driver assistance systems. In this paper, we
describe a procedure based on color segmentation, Histogram of Ori-
ented Gradients (HOG), and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) for
detecting and classifying road signs. Detection is speeded up by a pre-
processing step to reduce the search space, while classication is carried
out by using a Deep Learning technique. A quantitative evaluation of the
proposed approach has been conducted on the well-known German Traf-
c Sign data set and on the novel Data set of Italian Trac Signs (DITS),
which is publicly available and contains challenging sequences captured
in adverse weather conditions and in an urban scenario at night-time.
Experimental results demonstrate the eectiveness of the proposed ap-
proach in terms of both classication accuracy and computational speed
Peningkatan Hasil Belajar Siswa dalam Pembelajaran IPS Menggunakan Metode Kerja Kelompok di Sekolah Dasar
The research was aimed to describe the improvement of students' achievement in social studies learning by using group discussion method in the class IV of SDN 12 Sandai Kabupaten Ketapang. The research method used was descriptive method with the research design of classroom action research (CAR). The result of this classroom action research after it was implemented in cycle I, cycle II and cycle III could improve the students' achievement. This was proved from the fourth grade students' achievement in social studies learning, which the mean score of final test in the first cycle was 62.2, in the second cycle became 76.1 and improved in the third cycle became 90
Review of: A. Lymberopoulou and R. Duits (eds), Byzantine Art and Renaissance Europe,
The question of cultural relations between the Byzantine East and the Latin West, although not unexplored, is still an open one. Therefore, this book, a collective volume of six studies on various aspects of cultural and artistic interaction between Byzantine and Western European societies from the late twelfth to the late fifteenth century, is welcome
