Energy harvesting earliest deadline first scheduling algorithm for increasing lifetime of real time systems

    Get PDF
In this paper, a new approach for energy minimization in energy harvesting real time systems has been investigated. Lifetime of a real time systems is depend upon its battery life.  Energy is a parameter by which the lifetime of system can be enhanced.  To work continuously and successively, energy harvesting is used as a regular source of energy. EDF (Earliest Deadline First) is a traditional real time tasks scheduling algorithm and DVS (Dynamic Voltage Scaling) is used for reducing energy consumption. In this paper, we propose an Energy Harvesting Earliest Deadline First (EH-EDF) scheduling algorithm for increasing lifetime of real time systems using DVS for reducing energy consumption and EDF for tasks scheduling with energy harvesting as regular energy supply. Our experimental results show that the proposed approach perform better to reduce energy consumption and increases the system lifetime as compared with existing approaches.

Study Attitude And Academic Achievement At Secondary Level In Pakistan

The author compared study attitudes of low and high achievers by using a self-developed study attitude scale (SAS) consisting of 36 items. Academic performance was measured through marks obtained by the students in the 9th grade examination conducted by the external body.  The analysis revealed that the study attitude of secondary school students was related with their academic achievement.  A t-test for independent samples showed that there was a significant difference between the study attitude of male, female, rural and urban students

A-OLSR: ANFIS based OLSR to select Multi point relay

    Get PDF
The characteristics like dynamic topology, power consumption, mobility etc. may leads to affect the routing process of packet as it progresses from one node to another node. The energy of each node is very limited in MANET’s due to which it becomes an important parameter to be considered while selecting the route. The ‘Optimized Link State Routing Protocol’ (OLSR) does not consider node energy during Multipoint relay (MPR) selection process. This paper proposes an improvement of OLSR routing protocol named as A-OLSR protocol using node energy during its MPR process. The improvement is based on adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). The network simulator NS2.35 is used for the simulation, random way point model for mobility and constant bit rate (CBR) for traffic process. The performance of proposed A-OLSR protocol is evaluated using the packet delivery ratio (PDR) and end to end delay metrices. The simulation results prove the superiority of the proposed protocol in terms of PDR

Governance Gaps in Emergency Management during Critical Incidents of Terrorist Attacks and Related Disasters in Pakistan

This research was conducted to reveal the governance gaps in disaster management and suggests measures to overcome these institutional gaps and incapability. Since very long Pakistan is facing complex and multi-faceted natural and human induced risks, crises and disasters. Due to absence of comprehensive policies and effective risk management strategies and approaches critical Disasters has always huge impact then it is perceived. Being a frontline state Pakistan in war against terrorism insecurity and terrorism have been firmed their roots in the country more than thousands of Pakistani have been killed as direct reaction of this war. Many initiatives to counter terrorism have been taken by Pakistan by failed to reduce the impact of terrorism in the country. Law enforcement agencies and disaster management authorities are lacking skills to respond to terrorist attacks timely and proactively hence these attack causes many deaths and causalities. As revealed during the previous attacks and emergencies the overall structure of responding to disaster of terrorist attacks is very weak with many visible weakness and gaps

Reshaping Tomorrow through Green Governance and Circular Economy: An Emerging Paradigm

    Get PDF
Circular economy and green governance are gaining momentum and traction with industry and policymakers. The circular economy is viewed as a restoration and regeneration system in which resources, energy usage, and greenhouse gases are minimized. At the same time, the Green Governance structure is a good transition to a circular economy and helps enterprises to move toward sustainable development. This study’s objective is to explore the hidden possible relationship that exists between the Green Governance of companies and the much-anticipated Circular Economy for low waste and carbon society. Furthermore, an extensive literature review was undertaken to create the first green governance circular economy framework (GGCE) for businesses to integrate the proposed model into their operational activities. This GGCE framework will be developed by exploring the similarities between green governance and circular economy. This study has three expected findings; firstly, the proposed framework will help firms to change their business approach to addressing climate change. Secondly, the GGCE framework will help policymakers to develop policies for circular economy governance. Lastly, it will be the point of reference to the academician for further extension of the GGCE framework. Keywords: green governance, circular economy, GGCE framework, Nigeria oil and gas secto

Majoon-E-Piyaz: A Potent Unani Formulation for Premature Ejaculation

    Get PDF
Surʻat-e-Inzāl (Premature Ejaculation) is the most prevalent male sexual dysfunction affecting 25 - 40% global population of men. It is a universal disorder and is independent of age, social or marital status. It has a significant impact on both- patients and their partners, causing distress, anxiety and relationship difficulties affecting the quality of life. Several aetiologies have been proposed by various researchers which are not evidence-based but speculative. Accordingly the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) issued treatment guidelines for Premature Ejaculation (PE) recommending Serotonergic Antidepressants (SSRIs) and Local Anaesthetics (LA) for its management in modern medicine. However, these treatments were not actually developed for PE, and have limitations associated with their off-label use. Furthermore, nearly all the recommended drugs have a wider spectrum of adverse effects and serious drug interactions which sometimes could be fatal. On the other hand, centuries old Unani medicine offers a complete line of treatment for Surʻat-e-Inzāl based on traditional knowledge and experience. Unani physicians devised a large number of poly-herbal recipes which are still in vogue.  Majoon-e-Piyaz (MP) is one of the compound Unani formulations which are in use for the treatment of premature ejaculation since centuries. This article is an attempt to summarize scientific investigations in support of the claim made by Unani physicians regarding Majoon-e-Piyaz (MP).  Keywords: Surʻat-e-Inzāl, Premature Ejaculation, Majoon-e-Piyaz, Unani Medicin

ScienceDirect 2013 AASRI Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing and Systems 5-Layered Architecture of Cloud Database Management System

Abstract Cloud Database Management System is a new emerging concept recently introduced in the world. In Cloud the concept of Standard architecture of Cloud Database Management System is not yet been implemented. In this paper we are proposing a framework for 5-layered architecture in cloud database management system. First layer introduced is the External Layer, this layer is closest to the user, in which manageability, providing transparency and security are the important issue that should be considered. Second layer is the Conceptual Middleware Layer, as there are heterogeneous databases and clouds are available in the market, so here interoperability is the major issue. Third layer is the Conceptual Layer in which programming techniques, transaction management, query processing and optimization are the issues that should be considered. Forth layer is the Physical Middleware Layer, as there are various platforms available so here also, interoperability between various platforms are the biggest issue and the last layer is the Physical Layer in which how data can be stored so that it can be easily accessible without so much overhead so here data security, storage, backup, load balancing, partitioning, scaling, elasticity, fault tolerance and replication are the important issues that should be considered
