    Postpartum Mental Health among Young Women

    Background: A number of studies have highlighted the physical health problems associated with adolescent pregnancy in Saudi Arabia , However there were few studies dealing with the postpartum psychiatric disorders .The study aims to determine the prevalence of postpartum psychological distress and to evaluate the associated risk factors in a sample of primigravid young women in Al Ahsa region, Saudi Arabia. Methods: We assessed the prevalence of postnatal mental health in 190 young mothers attending the maternity hospital using general health questionnaire. We also assessed the relationship between socio-demographic, psychiatric and obstetric risk factors and the mental health. Results: The percent of women with psychological distress was 35.2%. Significant risk of psychological distress was associated with several socio-demographic, psychiatric and obstetric risk factors. Only four items were found to be significant predictors of postpartum psychological distress; low family income, poor husband support, birth of female baby and gestational diabetes. Conclusions: These results highlighted importance of screening for psychological distress and its associated risk factors in the implementation of proper perinatal care for the pregnant Saudi adolescents

    Intellectual characteristics of Muslim personality and job characteristics as determinants for organizational citizenship behavior among Yemeni Secondary School Teachers

    The main finding of this study is that Islamic piety motivates schoolteachers to exceed the demands of their formal job description in the practice of their profession. The study also yielded an instrument to measure the degree to which a Muslim schoolteacher fits the description of a God-conscious person in carrying out his professional responsibilities. The objectives of the study was first to determine antecedents of Organizational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) in the context of schools. Second the study aimed to construct-validate the multi-dimensionality of the organizational citizenship behavior. Drawing on earlier OCB studies, the proposed construct for School OCB has two dimensions, which are OCB towards individuals and OCB towards organization, and two groups of antecedents, which are job characteristics and personality characteristics. The job characteristics are grouped under two headings: Job Demand and Job Autonomy. For personality characteristics, the researcher chose to investigate what constitute indicators of the Moral Character of the Intellectual Muslim (MCIM) as given in the Qur’an, and found nine character traits that can be grouped under the rubrics of Interpersonal Characteristics, Self-Purification Characteristics and Endurance Characteristics. The results on data collected from 334 Yemeni secondary school teachers confirm the twofold dimensionality of School OCB. The measurement model for MCIM is also validated. The hypothesized construct for School OCB was tested through Structural Equation Modeling and the results show that Muslim personality characteristics do predict OCB, but job characteristics do not. There are several implications from the study that call for further research

    Problem statement: The Wireless Body Area Sensor Networks (WBASNs) is a wireless network used for communication among sensor nodes operating on or inside the human body in order to monitor vital body parameters and movements.This study surveys the state-of-the-art on Wireless Body Area Networks, discussing the major components of research in this area including physiological sensing and preprocessing, WBASNs communication techniques and data fusion for gathering data from sensors.In addition, data analysis and feedback will be presented including feature extraction, detection and classification of human related phenomena.Approach: Comparative studies of the technologies and techniques used in such systems will be provided in this study, using qualitative comparisons and use case analysis to give insight on potential uses for different techniques.Results and Conclusion: Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) technologies are considered as one of the key of the research areas in computer science and healthcare application industries.Sensor supply chain and communication technologies used within the system and power consumption therein, depend largely on the use case and the characteristics of the application.Authors conclude that Life-saving applications and thorough studies and tests should be conducted before WBANs can be widely applied to humans, particularly to address the challenges related to robust techniques for detection and classification to increase the accuracy and hence the confidence of applying such techniques without physician intervention

Furthermore, social media has led to the exponential growth of this illicit trade of antiquities where an international network of traffickers, traders and terrorists utilize online platforms for the auctioning and sale of cultural goods.     Student Partnership in E-learning: the Development of Online Resources for Students by Students in Dentistry

    Dentistry is a dynamic and ever changing specialty that has been strongly influenced by developments in technology and therefore our teaching strategies must evolve to keep pace with these changes. E-learning has become an integral part of the dental curriculum, with a marked increase in use over recent years. However dental students have up until now been the recipients rather than active participants in the development of dental e-learning resources. Bovill et al (2011) conclude that it is incumbent upon us to reconsider students' roles in their education and reposition students to take a more active part - as co- creators of teaching approaches, course design and curricula. In this paper the presenters will outline the design and product of a self- selected study module (SSM) offered to year five dental students in e-learning. The SSM offers the opportunity for students to work as small teams with the school learning technologist and academic staff to identify, design, develop and evaluate quality-assured e-learning objects. Each group (n=2) with the guidance and quality assurance of academic staff will create a resource that can be integrated within the current University of Glasgow BDS curriculum for future years. It will become a useful revision resource that will supplement the learning and teaching received elsewhere within the course and will be accessible to all dental students in Scotland via the Scottish Dental Education Online (SDEO) programme. The SSM provides the opportunity of student participation in learning with technology and designing aspects of the curriculum, and aligns with the University's Learning and Teaching strategic objective of building staff-student partnerships to promote student engagement with learning
