Introduction: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is the most important lifesaving technique in several emergency situations such as cardiac arrest. In future, being part of health care professionals, pharmacy students are deemed to possess basic skills and expertise which are required to perform CPR. Objective: To access the knowledge of cardiopulmonary among pharmacy students of Mirpur Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Methods: It was a questionnaire-based, descriptive cross-sectional study, conducted among 4th and 5th year students of two Pharmacy institutes of Mirpur AJ&K from November 2018 to January 2019. A pre-tested questionnaire from previous study was used to collect data. It comprised of 13 dichotomous questions with “Yes/No” options, regarding knowledge of CPR. Descriptive statistics was used to unfold the demographic characteristics. Inferential statistics (Kruskal Wallis and Man Whitney) tests were used for evaluating difference between dependent continuous variables and independent variables and Chi-square was applied to determine difference between grouped variables. P-value of less than 0.05 is considered significant. The data was analyzed using SPSS version 20. Result: Overall, 131 out of 150(response rate= 92%) students participated in current study. Gender distribution among the participants was almost equal with 66 males (50.4%) males and 65 (49.6%) females took part in current study. Participants of the age group 21-23 years (n=88, 67.2%) were dominant. Only few students (n=23, 17.6%) reported to have taken training in CPR previously. Eighty-eight (66.7%) had average knowledge of CPR. No significant differences among male and female, 4th and 5th year students of both the institutes were found. Conclusion: The study revealed that knowledge level of CPR is adequate in most of the students of pharmacy. However, further improvements are required to perform CPR in an efficient manner. Thus, training in CPR should be mandatory in the pharmacy curriculum

Prepared as part of the Technical Assistance to the Government of Balochistan in collaboration with Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering & Management Sciences (BUITEMS) and Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University (SBKWU), QuettaThis paper documents the different steps followed to construct Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) for Balochistan for the year 2019-20. More precisely, it describes the estimation methods and the nature of the data used in developing the SAM at the subnational level. The Balochistan SAM includes 13 production activities, 4 factors of production, 4 household groups and rest of the world account, assessing linkages between production, factor income distribution, and households’ incomes and expenditures, and capturing distributional effects. The Balochistan SAM reveals that the shares of services and manufacturing sector remains lower than national average and there is an overwhelming contribution of the livestock and horticulture sector in the subnational economy which has the potential in boosting national livestock and horticulture exports. Further, the consumption pattern in Balochistan supports Engle’s law of consumption showing that with an increase in households’ income, the share of expenditure on food decreases and consumption of non-food items increases. This paper is organized as follows. The first section presents an overview of Balochistan province of Pakistan. The second Section highlights the background of Social Accounting Matrix and its key features. The third section review the literature and various efforts made to develop Pakistan SAM with varying features. The fourth section describes the process and the methodology used to develop SAM. The fifth section presents the structure of Balochistan SAM, accounts, and data sources and elaborates the process and techniques used to balance Balochistan SAM. The sixth section highlights the structure of Balochistan’s economy and an evaluation of value addition. The seventh section underscores the key findings of Balochistan SAM. The final section underlines how the SAM Balochistan can contribute to evidence-based policy making that helps in economic growth and reducing poverty in Balochistan

In the present in vivo study, we provide a comparison of toxicological consequences induced by four different types of spherical nanoparticles (NPs)—silver nanoparticles (AgNPs, 40 ± 6 nm), nickel (NiNPs, 43 ± 6 nm), cobalt oxide (Co3O4NPs, 60 ± 6 nm), and chromium oxide (Cr3O4NPs, 50 ± 5 nm)—on freshwater fish Labeo rohita. Fish were exposed to NPs (25 mg/L) for 21 days. We observed a NPs type-dependent toxicity in fish. An altered behavior showing signs of stress and a substantial reduction in total leukocyte count was noticed in all NP-treated groups. A low total erythrocyte count in all NP-treated fish except for Co3O4NPs was discerned while a low survival rate in the case of Cr3O4NP-treated fish was observed. A significant decrease in growth and hemoglobin were noticed in NiNP- and Cr3O4NP-treated fish. A considerable total protein elevation was detected in NiNP-, Co3O4NP-, and Cr3O4NP-treated groups. An upgrading in albumin level was witnessed in Co3O4NP- and Cr3O4NP-treated groups while a high level of globulin was noted in NiNP- and Co3O4NP-exposed groups. In all NP-treated groups, a depleted activity of antioxidative enzymes and pathological lesions in liver and kidney were noticed
