Resolving Octant Degeneracy at LBL experiment by combining Daya Bay Reactor Setup
Long baseline Experiment (LBL) have promised to be a very powerful
experimental set up to study various issues related to Neutrinos. Some ongoing
and planned LBL and medium baseline experiments are - T2K, MINOS, NOvA, LBNE,
LBNO etc. But the long baseline experiments are crippled due to presence of
some parameter degeneracies, like the Octant degeneracy. In this work, we first
show the presence of Octant degeneracy in LBL experiments, and then combine it
with Daya Bay Reactor experiment, at different values of CP violation phase. We
show that the Octant degeneracy in LBNE can be resolved completely with this

The Waveform Digitiser of the Double Chooz Experiment: Performance and Quantisation Effects on PhotoMultiplier Tube Signals
We present the waveform digitiser used in the Double Chooz experiment. We
describe the hardware and the custom-built firmware specifically developed for
the experiment. The performance of the device is tested with regards to
digitising low light level signals from photomultiplier tubes and measuring
pulse charge. This highlights the role of quantisation effects and leads to

Physicochemical and Heavy Metals Analysis of Different Brands of Sachet Water Sold in Benin City, Nigeria
Water of good quality is essential for environmental and public health. In Nigeria, majority of the population rely on sachet/packed water for drinking purpose. This study was carried out to assess physico-chemical characteristics and levels of Fe, Zn, Cu, Pb and Mn in ten brands of sachet water sold in Benin City, Nigeria using standard methods. The lowest and highest values of the physico-chemical parameters were: pH (5.20 - 7.00), EC (10 - 170)µS/cm, turbidity (0.00 - 10.00)NTU TDS (5.30 - 90.10)mg/l, hardness (6.00 - 30.00)mg/l, chloride (7.06 - 21.18)mg/l, alkalinity (4.00 – 16.00)mg/l, nitrate (0.64 - 1.22)mg/l and phosphate (0.01 - 1.15)mg/l. They were all within the WHO permissible limits for drinking water except pH and turbidity that revealed a slight increase in concentrations in two brands, which could be indicative of high level of suspended solids and the presence of cations in the groundwater and could pose serious health threat to consumers. Therefore, proper treatment of water in the water packaging facilities and improved sanitary practices of workers and facilities in general are recommended. UNI data from heavy metals (Fe, Zn, Cu, Pb and Mn) analysis showed no evidence of contamination as they were all within their respective permissible limits of drinking water. It is therefore concluded that the sachet water brands sold in the study area are of good physical and chemical quality
The role of self-efficacy as an attribute of principals’ leadership effectiveness in K-12 private and public institutions in Lebanon

The aim of this study is to explore the role of K-12 school principals’ self-efficacy as an attribute for their leadership effectiveness in Lebanon. The Norwegian principal self-efficacy scale (NPSES) instrument was translated into Arabic and used to collect quantitative data from participants. Internal consistency of factors within this study was checked (24 items; α = 0.73). By comparing private and public schools in Lebanon, all located in the governorate of Mount Lebanon, the researchers revealed the extent to which principals’ self-efficacy plays a role in their leadership. In addition, while no statistical difference was found between self-efficacy levels of private and public principals, females reported higher scores on the majority of the dimensions than their male counterparts in both types of schools. This study highlights the importance of the interaction effect of age and gender on self-efficacy levels. Moreover, it offers knowledge and practice to policy makers when recruiting principals or designing training programs. It also suggests the implementation of an in-house mentoring program to create school-school partnerships. Finally, this paper offers a platform for future researchers interested in principal self-efficacy in similar conflict-affected places with high economic depression. Limitations are further mentioned
Review of Reactor Antineutrino Experiments
As discussed elsewhere, the measurement of a non-zero value for
would open up a wide range of possibilities to explore CP-violation and the
mass hierarchy. Experimental methods to measure currently the unknown mixing
angle include accelerator searches for the appearance

antineutrino experiments are designed to search for a non-vanishing mixing

Search for dinucleon decay into pions at Super-Kamiokande
A search for dinucleon decay into pions with the Super-Kamiokande detector
has been performed with an exposure of 282.1 kiloton-years. Dinucleon decay is
a process that violates baryon number by two units. We present the first search
for dinucleon decay to pions in a large water Cherenkov detector. The modes
O C, O
N, and O
O are investigated. No significant excess in the
Super-Kamiokande data has been found, so a lower limit on the lifetime of the
process per oxygen nucleus is determined. These limits are:
years,
years, and
years. The lower
limits on each mode are about two orders of magnitude better than previous
