    Scaling Behavior of Ricci Curvature at Short Distance near Two Dimensions

    We study the renormalization of the Ricci curvature as an example of generally covariant operators in quantum gravity near two dimensions. We find that it scales with a definite scaling dimension at short distance. The Ricci curvature singularity at the big bang can be viewed as such a scaling phenomenon. The problem of the spacetime singularity may be resolved by the scale invariance of the spacetime at short distance.Comment: 9pages, LaTe

    Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is a progressive and irreversible inflammatory and fibrotic disease with no cure. Unlike acute pancreatitis (AP), we find that alternatively activated macrophages (AAMs) are dominant in mouse and human CP. AAMs are dependent on interleukin (IL)-4 and IL-13 signalling, and we show that mice lacking IL-4Rα, myeloid-specific IL-4Rα and IL-4/IL-13 were less susceptible to pancreatic fibrosis. Furthermore, we demonstrate that mouse and human pancreatic stellate cells (PSCs) are a source of IL-4/IL-13. Notably, we show that pharmacologic inhibition of IL-4/IL-13 in human ex vivo studies as well as in established mouse CP decreases pancreatic AAMs and fibrosis. We identify a critical role for macrophages in pancreatic fibrosis and in turn PSCs as important inducers of macrophage-alternative activation. Our study challenges and identifies pathways involved in crosstalk between macrophages and PSCs that can be targeted to reverse or halt pancreatic fibrosis progression

Respondents who are consumers staying at hotels Furaya Pekanbaru, as many as 100 people using accidental sampling technique. In analyzing the data, the writer uses descriptive analysis that compares the data with various theories that support and explain or describe nature and use SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) version 17.00. To see the life style of the marketing mix analysis, the authors use multiple regression formula (multiple regression). It is shown that the variable (X1) products, is greater than t-table means there is a significant influence on consumer decisions. variable (X2) price, less than the t-table means that there is a significant influence on consumer decisions. variable (X3) promotion, greater than t-table means there is a significant influence on consumer decisions. variable (X4) people, is greater than t-table means there is a significant influence on consumer decisions. variable (X5) process, is greater than t-table means there is a significant influence on consumer decisions. variable (X6) customer service is greater than t-table means there is a significant influence on consumer decisions. Based on the research coefficient of multiple determination (R2) 0.3716 magnitude. It shows that the two independent variables, namely the quality of service together have the effect of 37.16% of the consumer decision while the remaining 62.84% are influenced by other variables not examined

We can obtain an optimal on-line learning algorithm, since renormalization group enables us to control the number of degrees of freedom of a system according to the number of examples.     Income or education, which has a stronger association with dental implant use in elderly people in Japan?

    OBJECTIVES Although inequalities in dental implant use based on educational level have been reported, no study has used income as a proxy for the socioeconomic status. We examined: (i) income inequalities in implant use; and (ii) whether income or education has a stronger association with implant use in elder Japanese. METHODS In 2016, a self‐reported questionnaire was mailed to participants aged 65 years or older living across Japan as part of the ongoing Japan Gerontological Evaluation Study. We used data from 84,718 respondents having 19 or fewer teeth. After multiple imputation, multi‐level logistic regression estimated the association of dental implant use with equivalised income level and years of formal education. Confounders were age, sex, and density of dental clinics in the residential area. RESULTS 3.1% of respondents had dental implants. Percentages of dental implant use among the lowest (≤ 9 years) and highest (≥ 13 years) educational groups were 1.8 and 5.1, respectively, and among the lowest (0 < 12.2 ‘1,000 USD/year’) and highest (≥ 59.4 ‘1,000 USD/year’) income groups were 1.7 and 10.4, respectively. A fully adjusted model revealed that both income and education were independently associated with dental implant use. Odds ratios for implant use in the highest education and income groups were 2.13 [95% CI = 1.94–2.35] and 4.85 [95% CI = 3.78–6.22] compared with the lowest education and income groups, respectively. From a model with standardised variables, income showed slightly stronger association than education. CONCLUSION This study reveals a public health problem that even those with the highest education but low income might have limited accessibility to dental implant services

    Asymptotic Safety of Gravity Coupled to Matter

    Nonperturbative treatments of the UV limit of pure gravity suggest that it admits a stable fixed point with positive Newton's constant and cosmological constant. We prove that this result is stable under the addition of a scalar field with a generic potential and nonminimal couplings to the scalar curvature. There is a fixed point where the mass and all nonminimal scalar interactions vanish while the gravitational couplings have values which are almost identical to the pure gravity case. We discuss the linearized flow around this fixed point and find that the critical surface is four-dimensional. In the presence of other, arbitrary, massless minimally coupled matter fields, the existence of the fixed point, the sign of the cosmological constant and the dimension of the critical surface depend on the type and number of fields. In particular, for some matter content, there exist polynomial asymptotically free scalar potentials, thus providing a solution to the well-known problem of triviality.Comment: 18 pages,typeset with revtex

    The transfer matrix in four-dimensional CDT

    The Causal Dynamical Triangulation model of quantum gravity (CDT) has a transfer matrix, relating spatial geometries at adjacent (discrete lattice) times. The transfer matrix uniquely determines the theory. We show that the measurements of the scale factor of the (CDT) universe are well described by an effective transfer matrix where the matrix elements are labeled only by the scale factor. Using computer simulations we determine the effective transfer matrix elements and show how they relate to an effective minisuperspace action at all scales.Comment: 32 pages, 19 figure
