Spatial Adaptation of Protected Area Buffer Zones in Urban Setting: Impact on human and conservation agenda
It is considerably challenging task to have a buffer zone (BZ) around protected areas (PA) in the urban area due to the conflict of interest between conservation and development. There is a need for ‘win-win situation’. This research is to identify the impact of a potential buffer zone on human and conservation of natural environment which derived from the stakeholders’ understanding. In-depth interviews with stakeholders of the PA and their surroundings were carried out. The findings suggested that a ‘dual purpose’ BZ – environmental conservation and socio-economic benefits are suitable for the FRIM area. Keywords:; Buffer Zone Concept; Protected Areas; Urban Setting; FRIM, MalaysiaISSN: 2398-4287© 2017. The Potential of Public Parks for Business Activity in An Urban Community
Apart from offering a positive impact on general well-being, public parks play critical roles in community and social. The previous study has always focused on the parks' effect on property values, which is quantifiable, but little is known about the profit-able value of public parks on the urban community, particularly in the context of business activity. This research aim is to discover the potential of public parks for a business activity for the community in Kuala Lumpur as a case study. Therefore, the research objectives are: i) To identify the attributes factors of business activity in public park, ii) To determine the types of business activity. The research employed a quantitative approach by distributing online questionnaires to the random urban community. Significantly, 170 respondents have responded to the questions based on the sampling method applied for the random size of the population. The findings show that park attributes are derived from the aspects of attracting the urban community to public parks and influencing business activity through community participation. The urban community prefers to have added program value as part of the park's business activity while also recognizing the value of preserving passive activities by not over-commercializing the park. The findings also show that repurposing a public park as a business district can be innovative, but it takes preparation and a suitable system from the park's management

The needs for understanding the fundamentals of Islamic tourism city from the Shariah perspective
Strategic planning and management of the Islamic tourism activities in the city are significant owing to the adherence to any available regulations enforced by the city's local authority. Since the recognition of the Islamic tourism industry has grown considerably in recent years as part of a new niche segment of the tourism industry; thus, the concept of the Islamic tourism city is still new and vague. This paper purposely aims to explore the need for understanding the fundamentals of the Islamic tourism city and its features to differentiate it from the conventional tourism city. This study employs a qualitative research methodology in which the in-text document method was used for the data collection, and the data was subsequently analysed using content analysis until the study's objective was met. The study has found that the available discussions on the concept of the Islamic tourism city are exhausted, and this could influence the governing process of Islamic tourism city whether it is in line with the Islamic teaching since the previous study less explores the concept. It is suggested that related parties such as the Islamic tourism planner, the local authorities and the academicians actively establish the concept of an Islamic tourism city because it is a necessity today due to the availability of the Islamic tourism products in the cities. Likewise, mismanagement could happen if there is no proper management of the Islamic tourism city within the Shariah principles
