    Get PDF
The objective of the study examines the impact of industrialization and financial development on water resources, in the specific context of Pakistan. Data set from 1975-2009 are taken for time series analysis. The result reveals that economic growth positively linked with the water resource, as water plays a pivotal role in the economic development of a country. Thus limiting this resource would affect the process of economic growth. Industrial processes have a negative environmental impact which causing water pollution. Financial development has an indirect effect on water consumption, as it shows that private firms finds more funding opportunities in a country, therefore, avoid dirty industry game.Economics growth, financial development, industrialization, water resource, cointegration, bonds test, Pakistan.

errors in multiple choice questions (MCQs) designing by the faculty members and to obtain need assessment feedback for faculty development for MCQ designing. Methods: In this study, all MCQs submitted by faculty members of Islamic International Medical College (IIMC) over a period of one year and three months from January 2009 to April 2010 were reviewed from time to time by the assessment committee. A total of 922 MCQs were reviewed. The reviews were compiled and analyzed to find out the frequency and types of errors made inadvertently in the structure and design of MCQs. Results: During the study period, the faculty members submitted a total of 922 MCQs. Spectrum of errors in MCQs ranged from spellings to complex questions to question cues. A total of 40% items qualified for being included in final assessment Conclusion: Review process is very important in improving the quality of items

A total of 46 species from 3 monocotyledon and 18 dicotyledonous families were investigated for percentage pollen fertility. The average fertility was 91.15% which showed the general stability of the flora in the study area. In the present research the highest 100% value was observed in Argyrolobium roseum (Camb.) Jaub. and Spach and the lowest 66.67% was observed in Spergularia arvensis L. The dominant families regarding number of species were: Brassicaceae having six species, whose average fertility was 91.82% and Papalionaceae having five species whose average fertility was 88.79%. The present studies showed that the flora of the area is a stable one.Key words: Pollen fertility, district tank, sub-tropical flora

Introduction/Objective:  Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is most frequent neurosurgical conditions. To find the recurrence rate of chronic subdural hematoma in patients who underwent one vs. two burr craniostomy. Material And Methods:  A randomized controlled trial was conducted at the Neurosurgery department, Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad. In the current study, a total of 76 (38 in each group) patients were observed. ASA-I, ASA-II, ASA III patients, symptomatic radiologically proven Chronic subdural hematoma. Patients were randomly allocated into two groups of 38 patients each. randomization with blocks. Group A was treated with intraoperative epidural methylprednisolone while Group B was treated with normal saline only. Clinical information was recorded on a pre-designed proforma. Results:  Mean age was 54 years in group A, and 56 years in group B. In group A, 74% were male and 26% of patients were female. In Group B, 76% were male and 24% were female. The group A, 5% of patients had recurrence while in Group B, 13% of patients had a recurrence. There existed a significant difference between effectiveness and not-effectiveness of one/two burr hole craniostomy among patients who were less than 40 years. Conclusion:  The recurrence rate of chronic subdural hematoma is higher in patients undergoing two burr hole craniostomy as compared to one burr craniostomy

A Time-Series Analysis of Economic Growth in the Context of Indian Economy

India has a sizable and successful consumer class, which is critical given that household consumption accounts for 60% of GDP. Total market value is calculated by adding the monetary or market values of all final goods and services produced inside a nation's borders. Additionally, the gross domestic product at market value (GDP at market value) may be employed to reflect this total market value. Total domestic production is defined in terms of GDP to assess the economy's health. GDP is computed on a quarterly or yearly basis, depending on the state of the economy at the moment. Human capital is a country's most important natural resource, and it must be used appropriately and acknowledged to accomplish long-term economic goals sustainably. India is the world's second-most populated nation, with 1.3 billion people behind China. According to the World Bank, India's global influence has grown in lockstep with its consistent economic success. Compared to wealthier nations, emerging countries have several obstacles, including a lack of infrastructure and a low per capita income. Another issue that has to be addressed is the growth of rural economic systems. According to some experts, India's current economic instability will culminate in an unprecedented economic boom, which they believe has already begun

Synthesis, characterization and pharmacological evaluation of mixed ligand-metal complexes containing omeprazole and 8-hydroxyquinoline

Purpose: To synthesize a series of mixed ligand-metal complexes and to evaluate their alkaline phosphatase inhibitory capacities, antioxidant potential and antimicrobial activities.Method: Mixed ligand-metal complexes of Zn (II), Ni (II), Co (II), Cu (II), omeprazole and 8- hydroxyquinoline were synthesized. The ligand-metal complexes were characterized by various physicochemical techniques, including elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, scanning electron microscope (SEM), mass spectrometry (EI-MS), ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) and conductance studies. The new compounds were also investigated for their alkaline phosphatase (ALPs) inhibition, 2,2’-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical-scavenging and antimicrobial activities. Results: Spectroscopic studies revealed the chemical composition of synthesized compounds as well as the bidentate bonding behavior of the coordinating ligands with metal ions. Conductance measurement suggested that the metal complexes were non-electrolytes. Ni(II) complex exhibited antioxidant activity (30.48 ± 0.32 μM) higher than those of BHT (standard) and other complexes. Stronger inhibition of ALPs by Ni (II) mixed ligand complex compared to the other complexes was evident. The synthesized compounds showed moderate to very good antimicrobial activity against bacterial strains, i.e., Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Actinomyces viscosus, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis; as well as against the fungal strains, Candida albicans, Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus niger. Conclusion: All the mixed ligand complexes demonstrate higher antioxidant, ALPs-inhibitory and antimicrobial activities than their corresponding ligands. This indicates their therapeutic potential as future drug candidates for the concerned diseases. Keywords: Omeprazole, 8-Hydroxyquinoline, Mixed-ligand complexes, Alkaline phosphatase, Bidentate bonding behavior
