Quintessential inflation from 5D warped product spaces on a dynamical foliation

Assuming the existence of a 5D purely kinetic scalar field on the class of warped product spaces we investigate the possibility of mimic both an inflationary and a quintessential scenarios on 4D hypersurfaces, by implementing a dynamical foliation on the fifth coordinate instead of a constant one. We obtain that an induced chaotic inflationary scenario with a geometrically induced scalar potential and an induced quasi-vacuum equation of state on 4D dynamical hypersurfaces is possible. While on a constant foliation the universe can be considered as matter dominated today, in a family of 4D dynamical hypersurfaces the universe can be passing for a period of accelerated expansion with a deceleration parameter nearly -1. This effect of the dynamical foliation results negligible at the inflationary epoch allowing for a chaotic scenario and becomes considerable at the present epoch allowing a quintessential scenario.Comment: 7 pages, 1 figure Accepted for publication in Modern Physics Letters

Certifying an irreducible 1024-dimensional photonic state using refined dimension witnesses

We report on a new class of dimension witnesses, based on quantum random access codes, which are a function of the recorded statistics and that have different bounds for all possible decompositions of a high-dimensional physical system. Thus, it certifies the dimension of the system and has the new distinct feature of identifying whether the high-dimensional system is decomposable in terms of lower dimensional subsystems. To demonstrate the practicability of this technique we used it to experimentally certify the generation of an irreducible 1024-dimensional photonic quantum state. Therefore, certifying that the state is not multipartite or encoded using non-coupled different degrees of freedom of a single photon. Our protocol should find applications in a broad class of modern quantum information experiments addressing the generation of high-dimensional quantum systems, where quantum tomography may become intractable.Comment: Journal version (except for small editorial modifications), 4+12 pages, 7 figure

Gravitational waves during Higgs inflation from complex geometrical scalar-tensor theory of gravity

In this paper we investigate tensor fluctuations of the metric at the end of a Higgs inflationary period in the context of a recently introduced complex geometrical scalar-tensor theory of gravity. In our model the Higgs field has a geometrical origin and the affine connection is determined by the Palatini's principle. Additionally, we consider an extra contribution to the tensor-fluctuations equation coming from the vacuum term in the energy momentum tensor associated to the Higgs field. The Higgs potential is rescaled by the non-canonicity function of the kinetic term of the field which is modified by the symmetry group of the background geometry. We obtain a nearly scale invariant spectrum and a scalar to tensor ratio in agreement with PLANCK 2018 cosmological results.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figure

A study was conducted in order to evaluate the possibility of using sheep to replace cattle in the evaluation of new pasture germplasm. The associations of A. gayanus + C. acutifolium and B. dictyoneura + D. ovalifolium were grazed with two intensities of management using an un replicated split plot design. The associations of A. gayanus + C. macrocarpum, A. gayanus + C. acutifolium and B. dictyoneura+ D. ovalifolium were grazed to study differences in legume selectivity. Sheep exhibited a high degree of preference for leaves of the erect grass (e.g. A. gayanus) and towards legumes with no antiquality factors (e.g. Centrosema spp.). The diet selected by sheep was associated with a greater content of crude protein, than the diet selected by cattle; however, the NDF and IVDMD values were similar in the diet selected by cattle and sheep. The IVDMD of the forage selected by sheep was higher than the corresponding value the leaves of grass, which was not observed the case of cattle
