The paper contains preliminary results of mycological research conducted in the Białaczów forest reserve, situated at the Wzgórza Opoczyńskie Upland. There are only data on macromycetes at this area. The occurrence of 167 species of macrofungi has been documented on the background of variety of tree stand and habitats. In July 2011 a heavy wind storm destroyed the tree stand and devastated the reserve. Now the area is in course of natural renovation. The data presented in the paper could be used as comparative fungal material concerning qualitative and quantitative changes

    Symphytocarpus trechisporus (Myxogastrea) in Poland

    Get PDF
Symphytocarpus trechisporus (Berk. ex Torrend) Nann.-Bremek. is rare in Poland, known previously from only one locality. Sixty years after the original report, this paper presents two new localities of it in separate regions of Poland. Although S. trechisporus is recorded mostly on Sphagnum sp., the taxon does not seem to be attached to a specific substrate; rather it is associated with acidic habitats

A checklist of 81 taxa has been prepared on the basis of 750 exsiccates of slime moulds collected in the years 1958-2009 in the area of Central Poland and preserved in the Herbarium LOD F. All these materials were reexamined according to contemporary literature. The paper summarizes the existing data concerning the occurrence of slime moulds in this area. Among the identified taxa there are four species indicated in the red list in Poland: Badhamia affinis, Physarum robustum, Didymium leptotrichum, and Clastoderma debaryanum

Field investigations into slime moulds were conducted in the “Bory Tucholskie” National Park in 2014. These were preliminary inventory studies, as research into myxogastria had not been conducted previously in this area. A total of 34 taxa (32 species, 2 varieties) belonging to 16 genera were identified. Of them, Stemonitopsis amoena (Nann.-Bremek.) Nann.-Bremek. is a species new to the biota of Poland. The taxon Symphytocarpus flaccidus is on the red list of slime mould rare in Poland. Localities of two species – Cribraria languescens Rex and C. pertenuis Flatau & Schirmer, were recorded in Poland for the second time

Evaluation of sensitivity and specificity of ECG left ventricular hypertrophy criteria in obese and hypertensive patients

Background: Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) is a well-known risk factor for cardiovascular events. Even though, there are many electrocardiographic (ECG) criteria for LVH, they still provide poor performance, especially among obese patients. The aim of this study was to examine the sensitivity and specificity in obese and nonobese patients, with obesity defined using body mass index (BMI), visceral fat level (VFATL) and waist hip ratio (WHR). Material and methods: Overall, 1722 patients were included in the study. All patients underwent complete physical examination, office blood pressure measurement, analysis of body composition, 12-lead ECG, M-mode two-dimensional echocardiography. Six standard ECG criteria for LVH were analyzed, including: Cornell voltage criteria, Cornell duration criteria, Sokolow- Lyon voltage criteria, Sokolow-Lyon product criteria, R I + S III and R wave of aVL. Sensitivity and specificity of those criteria was evaluated for patients with and without obesity. Transthoracic echocardiography was used as a reference method to detect LVH. Results: In obese patients, Cornell duration criteria showed the best performance and should be used in detecting LVH. Increased amount of adipose tissue and presence of obesity, defined by different indicators, decreased sensitivity and specificity values of ECG criteria; however, only several criteria showed statistical significance. Sokolov-Lyon voltage and Cornel voltage were evaluated to have good sensitivity in nonobese women patients, but their performance was insufficient in obese women. Conclusion: LVH should not be diagnosed using ECG criteria without assessment of patients obesity. Preferred parameter, from discussed in this study, to assess patients obesity is VFATL

Innowacyjność, konkurencyjność, jakość, wiedza i uczenie się komponentami rozwoju organizacji w zmiennym otoczeniu

Z wprowadzenia: "Monografia składa się z trzech części. Pierwsza z nich łączy problematykę innowacyjności i konkurencyjności z rozwojem organizacji.

Herein, the results of studies conducted in the Łagiewnicki Forest in the city of Łódź (central Poland) in 2010–2012 are presented. These were the first long-term observations into myxomycetes in the Łagiewnicki Forest and in central Poland. Investigations were conducted using the route method for the entire forest complex (2010–2012). Additionally, twelve logs were selected in the “Las Łagiewnicki” forest reserve for detailed observations in 2011–2012; these logs belonged to four tree species: Betula pendula Roth, Carpinus betulus L., Quercus sp., and Picea abies (L.) H. Karst. In total, 1,561 specimens were collected and were classified into 96 taxa (91 species and five varieties). Three species (Diderma saundersii, Oligonema flavidum, and Didymium eximium) are new to the biota of Poland, while five (Arcyria stipata, Hemitrichia calyculata, Oligonema schweinitzii, Physarum flavicomum, and Physarum robustum) are included on the red list of rare myxomycetes in Poland. Stemonitopsis amoena is also classified as a rare species; to date, this species has been reported in one locality in Poland. The scale by Stephenson et al. was used to determine the frequency of occurrence of individual taxa; 55 taxa were classified as rare, nine as sporadic, 26 as common, and six as abundant taxa. Three ecological groups of slime molds were identified based on the type of substrate they colonized: lignicolous (54 taxa), foliicolous (seven taxa), and corticolous (two taxa). No preference for the substrate was noticed in a group of 33 taxa that occurred on different substrate types. The phenology of myxomycete occurrence was also analyzed; 49 taxa occurred throughout the entire vegetative season, while only single records of species that were found in specific months were noted. The biota collected in the “Las Łagiewnicki” forest reserve and that in a Łagiewnicki Forest segment outside it (of the same size and the same occurrence of plant communities as in the reserve) in 2011–2012 were also compared

Praca dotyczy grupy organizmów z klasy Myxomycetes.
