Counselling Therapy and Determinants of Organizational Performance
A holistic integrative and synergistic performance model is defined by inter-firm variables represented as economic rates of returns for both economic and organizational factors. These are used to examine performance variance and their economic contribution to firm probability. An extensive literature review has been conducted to discover the commonality of underlying constructs and themes within the research stream on organizational performance. An analysis of the data suggests that there exists a set of common variables to explain organizational performance variance. Organizational factors explain almost twice as much variance in profit rates as to economic factor. Counselling therapy is admired as an aspect of technicality used for treating economic mishaps. It was counseling therapy that proposes a systemic framework on which to partition the economic contribution of these interdependent factors of organizational performance. Through counselling therapy the strategic management research stream would be identified to discover underlying constructs that frame performance model of the organizational and economic determinants. An Appraisal of the Effectiveness of the Internet as a Marketing Avenue To Customers in Nigeria
The importance of internet marketing has received significant public and corporate attention. However, marketing on the Internet has not received an overwhelming response in Nigeria. The study thus set out to identify the areas of current usage of the internet for marketing, determine the constraints to the effective use of the internet as a marketing platform in Nigeria, and examine how effective internet marketing has been to bank operations. Data for the study were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistical tools. The results showed that pricing, customer relations, promotions, and advertising were areas of high significant usage of internet marketing in the banks while constraints to the internet as a marketing platform included high cost of maintenance, information security concerns, and erratic power supply. It was also discovered that the use of internet marketing has effectively reduced staff cost, volume of manual transactions, and number of customers physically attended to. A positive significant relationship was discovered between internet marketing and the customer base of the banks. It was concluded that in spite of some constraints in the use of the internet as a marketing medium, it could also serve as a handy medium to service customer needs. Comparison of Growth, Yield and Fruit Quality Performance of Tomatoes Varieties under Controlled Environment Condition of the Southern Guinea Savannah
Controlled agriculture environment is one of the modern techniques, which has the potential to meet
the challenges faced by tomato producers in the country during the off-season. This study was conducted to
evaluate the performance of five different varieties of tomatoes under controlled environment (screen house).
The results revealed that the Nemoneta variety, performed better compared to other varieties in terms of plant
height (8.3cm) and also have the highest shelf life of 14 days followed by Delicious with 7 days, while the
number of fruits per plant was height in Small Cherry with an average of 8.733/plant, but Delicious variety gave
the highest values in terms of marketable fruit weight (9.33kg) and highest pH values (4.07). In terms of fruit
quality, Large Cherry variety contains the highest values for lycopene (1467.30mg/100g), vitamin A & B
(56.7mg/100g & 0.62 mg/100g, respectively) and potassium (0.62%)

Mobile Phone and Its Use as Online Shopping Mall Advertisement in Nigeria
This study was about online shopping mall advertisement through the use of mobile phone. The study analysed mobile phone penetration rate among respondents as well as the use of mobile phone in online shopping mall. The result revealed that mobile phone penetration rate in the Nigeria was more than 95% and that age remains the primary constraint to absolute use of mobile phone. The study also found out that a great improvement has been achieved in the use of mobile for advertisement. This is because mobile phone is currently being used to advertise complex and expensive products. Inclusive in this category of complex and expensive products are automobiles, houses, and land and estate properties. Likewise, the problem of visual disconnects between prospective customers and products has been eradicated. The study concluded that marketers should intensify efforts in reaching audience about products offering through online shopping mall in order to have the greatest coverage. BACTERIAL QUALITY AND CYTOTOXICITY SCREENING OF FRESH VEGETABLES IRRIGATED WITH POLLUTED WATERS
The mutagenic effects of raw vegetables irrigated with polluted water and their bacterial quality were studied. Two vegetables, lettuce (Lactuca sativa) and fluted pumpkin (Telfaria occidentalis) were planted in sterile soil and irrigated with sewage-polluted stream, rain, tap and well waters, and harvested. The presence of pathogenic bacteria on the vegetable leaf surfaces was determined. The Allium cepa assay was then used to evaluate the genetic and acute effects of the vegetable leaf extracts. The heavy metal concentrations of the vegetables were determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Pathogenic bacteria isolated were Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella paratyphii, Shigella dysenteriae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Aeromonas hydrophila and Enterobacter aerogenes. In A. cepa assay, none of the treatments induced chromosome aberration at the tested concentrations, but retardation of growth and suppression of mitotic activity occurred. The concentrations of heavy metals in the vegetables were lead (0.261-0.531mg/kg), zinc (0.142-1.618mg/kg), cadmium (0.00-0.13mg/kg), copper (0.021-0.057mg/kg), iron (0.711-1.122mg/kg) and chromium (0.00-0.14mg/kg). This study shows that irrigation waters could have effects on the quality of edible vegetables.Ă‚
Self-assessed dental health knowledge of Nigerian Doctors
Objectives: To assess medical doctors' knowledge of common dental diseases and the need to include dental education in the Nigerian undergraduate medical curriculum.Design: Cross-sectional multicentre non-random survey using a convenience sample.Setting: Tertiary hospitals across two geo-political zones of Nigeria. Participants were mostly recruited while attending seminars and other departmental events which brought doctors together.Subjects: Medical doctors in tertiary hospitals across two geo-political zones of Nigeria.Main outcome measures: Knowledge of common dental diseases namely, dental caries, gingivitis and periodontitis was evaluated using an open-ended questionnaire. The definition, etiology, treatment and age-related risk were assessed. Exposure to dental education during undergraduate training was assessed. Opinion on desirability and suggested length of future training were also assessed. Results: A total of 127 doctors (35 interns, 30 residents, 34 senior residents and 28 consultants) participated in the study. Overall, knowledge of definition, etiology, treatment and relative prevalence were recorded. About 69 doctors (54.3%) correctly defined dental caries, 120 (94.5%) correctly defined gingivitis while only only 29 (22.8%) correctly defined chronic periodontitis. The proportions of respondents who correctly identified disease etiology were 26 (20.5%) for caries, 31 (24.4%) for gingivitis and 12 (9.4%) for chronic periodontitis. The proportions of respondents who correctly identified appropriate treatment modalities were 39 (30.7%) for caries, 18 (14.2%) for gingivitis and 6 (4.7%) for periodontitis. Those who correctly identified the relative, age-related prevalence of the three diseases were 81 (63.8%) for caries, 51 (40.2%) for gingivitis and 47 (37%) for periodontitis. Conclusion: Most of the medical doctors who participated in the study demonstrated inadequate knowledge of common dental diseases and about 97% of respondents supported the idea of including dental education into the current Nigerian undergraduate medical curriculum

Modelling Methodologies to Assess Insulin Resistance and Insulin Secretion in Type 2 Diabetes Subjects
The development of type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a gradual process, and the relative roles of impaired insulin secretion and resistance in aetiology of the disease remain controversial. However, it is widely recognised that both defects are present in all overt subjects with T2D.
The current work provides new knowledge on both methodological and pathophysiolog-ical levels related to T2D. On the methodological level, a population-based approach, Bayesian hierarchical analysis (BAY), developed and was used to estimate parame-ters of the minimal model of glucose kinetics using data collected in newly presenting T2D subjects to investigate insulin sensitivity and glucose effectiveness. BAY results were compared with the standard two-stage approach, which employs the non-linear regression analysis. BAY was also employed to derive and compare estimates of insulin sensitivity and glucose effectiveness with a full sample scheme (30 points) with those estimated with 12 and 13 sample schemes.
The results demonstrated that BAY, besides avoiding parameter estimation failures, gives a smaller unbiased estimate of the population variance for both insulin sensitivity and glucose effectiveness. The analysis of reduced sampling schemes with BAY sug-gested that the adoption of the 13 sample scheme is preferable to that of the 12 sample scheme.
On the pathophysiological level, BAY was employed in combination with other tech-niques to increase understanding of early progression of T2D. The research investigated the progression of insulin sensitivity and insulin secretion over 2 years after diagnosis of T2D and relationships with clinical measures of glucose control.
The results demonstrated that /3-cell function can be ameliorated for at least two years by adequate conventional treatments after diagnosis of T2D. The improvement in gly-cated haemoglobin (HbAic) in the earlier years of T2D are associated with improved fasting and postprandial insulin pancreatic responsiveness. The results showed that the ability of indices of insulin sensitivity and pancreatic /3-cell responsiveness to explain inter-individual variability of measures of glucose control in newly presenting T2D de-crease over time for clinical measures of glucose control, and measures of glucose and insulin responses to the meal tolerance test
Normal Aerobic Vaginal Bacterial Flora of The African Giant Rats (AGR) Captured from Their Natural Habitat in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria
The genital tract of female animals, especially the caudal region, is known to habour non specific bacteria that are sometimes called the normal bacterial flora. In this study, we examined 12 apparently healthy female African giant rats (Cricetomys gambianus, Waterhouse) (AGR) to determine their vaginal bacterial flora. Swab collected from the vagina of each rat after previous chloroform anaesthesia was seeded onto blood and MacConkey agar plates and incubated aerobically at 370C for up to 48hours. Isolates were then characterized using various character parameters. The results indicated that 7 bacterial genera inhabit the vagina of the 12 African giant rats that were studied. The distribution of the bacteria species in the AGR were highlighted in the text. It is inferred from the results that under stress condition, these bacteria could cause disease in the African giant rats
