Boussinesq Solitons as Propagators of Neural Signals
We consider certain approximation for determining the equation of motion for nerve signals by using the model of the lipid melting of membranes. The nerve pulses are found to display nonlinearity and dispersion during the melting transition. In this simplified model the nonlinear equation early proposed by Heimburg and coworkers transformed to the well known integrable Boussinesq non linear equation. Under specific values of the parametric space this system shows the existence of singular and regular soliton like structures. After their collisions the mutual creation and annihilation (each other) of nerve signals along the nerve, during their propagation, has been observed. Keywords: Boussinesq equation, singular solitons, single neurons, neural code
This work contains the most important current aspects ofthe soliton phenomena. Starting with a brief history of the scientific appearance of solitons, we explain the most remarkable achievements of the physical and mathematical theory of them which have attracted the attention of physics and mathematics, especially from 70th. We review the setting of several important soliton features an accessible form for easy reading for people who do not possess a special mathematical background. We gradually show the development of the modem soliton theory, more precisely, the remarkably exact methods of solving an unexpected large amount of nonlinear problems. They aim to reveal a deep intemal symmetry inherent integrable models, and also to embed in mathematical physics a modem algebraic geometry specially its great body of methods linked with topology theories. We speculate on possible practical applications and illustrate them through the recent achievements innonlinear optics. New approaches of nonlinear dynamics which connect quantum theory and the fundamental implications that solitons have on the field and particle scenarios are considered.
Astronomía, gravitación y modelos cosmológicos
The humanity has raised impressive theories with respect to his cosmic vision through the time. In this work we expose in short form the history of the cosmological theories. We began by the first ideas on the universe until arriving at the general theory of relativity.
The fundamental ideas of the multi-scale analysis of perturbations, also called quasi-stationary method, for soliton-like solutions are exposed. In this approach the perturbed nonlinear differential equations are linearized by expanding the solutions around the undisturbed solutions. Consequently, the auto-functions of the linearized operator are calculated to obtain the disturbances of the solitonic solution. Moreover, the evolution of non-linear structures contained in the non-linear Schrödinger equation and cubic-fifth nonlinear Schrödinger equation with damping is studied. The solutions show the variation of the soliton parameters due to this effect.
