Laser Therapy Versus Electromagnetic Field on Mucosal Membrane Thickening in Children with Chronic Rhinosinusitis
Introduction: Rhinosinusitis is a frequent disease in children but may be underdiagnosed, that is to say, several causes of the disease are missed in children. Therefore, it seems essential to provide other modalities to treat chronic health conditions like such cases. This controlled clinical study was conducted to compare the effect of two non-pharmacological, painless, safe modalities; low-level laser therapy (LLLT), with pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) on mucosal membrane thickening in children with chronic rhinosinusitis. Methods: Thirty children with chronic sinusitis participated in this study, their ages ranged from 6 to 13 years old, recruited from the outpatients ENT clinic, Kasr Al Aini teaching hospital. They were classified into 2 groups of equal number; study group A (PEMF group) and study group B (LLLT group). These children were evaluated before the starting and after the end of the study through CT scan full examination (coronal and axial) for all children. Results: This study showed that there were statistically significant improvements in mucosal membrane thickness in both groups (P < 0.05), while there was no statistically significant difference between groups (P > 0.05).Conclusion: From the obtained outcomes it can be concluded that both the laser and electromagnetic field can be used effectively in the management of symptoms in children with chronic rhinosinusitis, while no significant difference between these modalities obtained
A new squat lobster of the genus Munidopsis (Crustacea, Decapoda, Munidopsidae) from the Mediterranean Sea
8 pΓ‘ginas, 4 figuras[EN]A new species of Munidopsis Whiteaves, 1874 is reported from the south of Crete, at 2046-2104 m, in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. The species (M. ariadne) is morphologically closely related to M. maunga Schnabel and Bruce, 2006, from New Zealand. The species is also close to M. polymorpha Koelbel, 1892, from Lanzarote, Canary Islands, and M. talismani A. Milne Edwards and Bouvier, 1894, from the NW Africa. The new species is described and illustrated and a diagnosis along with full illustration is provided for the latter 2 species.[ES]Una nueva especie de crustΓ‘ceo del gΓ©nero Munidopsis (Crustacea: Decapoda: Munidopsidae) del mar MediterrΓ‘neo. β Se describe una especie nueva de Munidopsis Whiteaves, 1874 capturada al sur de Creta, a 2046-2104 m, en el MediterrΓ‘neo oriental. Developing effective catalyst for mine methane conversion to hydrogen-containing gas
The Ni/Ce[1-x]La[x]O[y] and Ni/Ce[1-x]La[x]O[y]/Al[2]O[3] catalysts (x=0-1) were prepared for the mine methane conversion to hydrogen-containing gas. The influence of the support composition on the physicochemical characteristics of the catalysts and their activity in autothermal reforming of methane (ATR of CH[4]) was studied. It was shown that the dispersion of the Ni active component was enhanced with growth of molar ratio of La in the support composition that leads to the increase in catalyst stability in ATR of CH[4]. The Ni/Ce[1-x]La[x]O[y]/Al[2]O[3] catalysts in comparison to the Ni/Ce[1]-xLa[x]O[y] provide higher H[2] yield: at 850oC it is equal to 65-75%
Bioactive constituents and allelopathic activities of the invasive weed Ranunculus sceleratus L. Nile Delta, Egypt
Ranunculus sceleratus L. (celery-leaved buttercup) is a herbaceous plant grows in wet and moist habitats and is native to temperate and boreal North America and Eurasia. Moreover, it is listed as an invasive weed in northern Africa, Europe and Asia. This study aimed to determine some secondary products in R. sceleratus (Shoot and Root system) collected from canal banks of drains, Nile Delta, Egypt and to demonstrate their antioxidant and allelopathic potential. Results revealed that, methanolic extract of R. sceleratus rich in phenols, saponins and tannins. The antioxidant activity of the R. sceleratus has IC50 value of 0.37 mg/ml and 0.34 mg/ml for shoot and root, respectively, compared to 0.15 mg/ml for catechol. At 400 mg/ml, Chenopodium murale germination was inhibited by 79.74% and 92.64 for shoot and root extract, respectively, compared to control. However, the shoot growth was reduced by 76.06 % and 87.96 %, with the same sequence. The root growth was more sensitive to the allelopathic effect compared to the shoot, where it was inhibited by 82.68% and 98.67%, respectively, compared to control at the highest concentration. The obtained results on this invisive weed R. sceleratus could be a source of eco-friendly bioherbicides against C. murale and as a source of antioxidants

.Based on the analysis of previously performed geoscience, a project was carried out to conduct a complex of well logging in an open hole of well Krylovskaya 3 of Krylov structure (Tomsk region). The independent research is devoted to paleotemperature modeling and the determination of the generation potential of the togura oil source suite in the structures of the Bakchar depression. The results of the work are reflected in 8 publications
