    No full text
Service enterprises can maintain competitiveness as long as adapting to constantly changing environmental conditions and customer expectations.enterprise which is unable to satisfy its customers with the service offered, it is observed that customers react to quality of the service with complaining behaviors. Therefore, evaluating the complaints and producing solutions are expected to increase the level of the service quality perceptions and it is generally hoped that this situation creates loyal customers. In this context, the study was conducted in a five-star hotel operating in İstanbul and the data were collected through questionnaire forms. Descriptive statistics were applied to clarify the data of the study and the frequency values were used. In order to measure the level, direction and the effect of the variables, correlation and regression analysis were consulted. It was understood that displaying positive attitude and behavior to produce solutions for complaints by the service staff, created a positive impact on the perception of service quality. In addition, the customers whose complaints were responded positively exhibited behavioral and attitudinal aspects of loyalty with being repeat customers and recommending the hotel to friends and relative

A Comparative Study on Determining Nonlinear Function Parameters of the Izhikevich Neuron Model

    No full text
In the literature, the parabolic function of the Izhikevich Neuron Model (IzNM) is transformed to the Piecewise Linear (PWL) functions in order to make digital hardware implementations easier. The coefficients in this PWL functions are identified by utilizing the error-prone classical step size method. In this paper, it is aimed to determine the coefficients of the PWL functions in the modified IzNM by using the stochastic optimization methods. In order to obtain more accurate results, Genetic Algorithm and Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm (GA and ABC) are used as alternative estimation methods, and amplitude and phase errors between the original and the modified IzNMs are specified with a newly introduced error minimization algorithm, which is based on the exponential forms of the complex numbers. In accordance with this purpose, GA and ABC algorithms are run 30 times for each of the 20 behaviors of a neuron. The statistical results of these runs are given in the tables in order to compare the performance of three parameter-search methods and especially to see the effectiveness of the newly introduced error minimization algorithm. Additionally, two basic dynamical neuronal behaviors of the original and the modified IzNMs are realized with a digital programmable device, namely FPGA, by using new coefficients identified by GA and ABC algorithms. Thus, the efficiency of the GA and ABC algorithm for determining the nonlinear function parameters of the modified IzNM are also verified experimentally

The nonlinear function in Izhikevich neuron model (IzNM) makes difficult the digital hardware realizations of the model, so this parabolic function has been transformed to piecewise linear (PWL) functions in the literature. Some coefficients have been identified in the PWL functions by utilizing the classical step size method, but the values of these coefficients depend on the sensitivity of the step size considerably. In this study, the coefficients of the PWL functions in the modified IzNM are determined by using Genetic Algorithm (GA). After the parameter determination, the modified IzNM is simulated with the parameters, which are determined by both classical step size and GA. Also, the original and modified IzNMs exhibiting "tonic spiking" and "tonic bursting" behaviors are realized with digital programmable device, namely FPGA. Thus, it is tested the utility of the intelligent search algorithms in the neuronal structures and verified the adaptability of their results to the hardware implementations

Purpose To investigate the relationship between the intensity of neuropathic pain and the severity of osteopenia in type 2 diabetic patients with painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy (painful DPN). Methods In 220 patients with type 2 diabetes included in the screening, the presence of neuropathic pain was evaluated using the Douleur Neuropathique 4 Questions (DN4) scoring system. One hundred forty-five patients with painful DPN were identified and included in the study. Socio-demographic and laboratory evaluations were made and bone mineral density (BMD) of these patients was evaluated by the dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) method. Results There was a significant correlation between the neuropathic pain score and the total T scores of the lumbar spine and femur in patients with painful DPN. According to the regression analysis (standard coefficients), the DN4 score (0.498); the level of vitamin D (- 0.246) and the female sex (0.236) for the lumbar spine region; age (0.387); DN4 score (0.261); and vitamin D level (- 0.155) for the femur region were independently influencing factors on the development of osteoporosis. When osteoporosis (T score <= - 2.5) of the lumbar spine was analyzed by binary logistic regression, the risk of osteoporosis in women was 4.4 times higher, and the risk increased with increasing DN4 score. Conclusion The increase of neuropathic symptoms in patients with DPN is an effective and important factor in the development of diabetic osteopenia

    Chiral configurations of spirane-bridged cyclotriphosphazenes

The stereogenic properties of carbocyclic spiranes with two interlocking rings are well-established. Although some cyclophosphazene analogues of dispiranes have been reported, the molecules did not have any centres of chirality because they were symmetrically substituted. Linear tetra-spiranes, in which the two inner rings are carbocyclic and symmetrical and the two outer rings are unsymmetrically-substituted cyclotriphosphazenes, are expected to give rise to chiral molecules. We now report on the synthesis and ste-reogenic properties of the three structural types of pentaer-ythritol-bridged disubstituted cyclophosphazenes, which all have centres of chirality
