Understanding The Reading Responses And Creative Processes Through Digital Storytelling Among Readers With Different Reading Achievements In A University
Firmafirma
perusahaan turut memberi maklumbalas bahawa graduan-graduan kelulusan
kejuruteraan kurang kreatif.
The 21st century global market demands highly skilled workforce who are
articulate in English and creative. However, in a university where this study was
administered, the participating engineering students were found to be the least
proficient students in English. Their poor results may give an indication that the
majority of them may have not employed the cognitive, metacognitive and affective
elements in reading well. Malaysian employers have also complained that
engineering graduates lack creativity skills. Therefore, engineering students need to
be exposed to a learning means that can help foster both their reading comprehension
and creativity. As such, a rational action would be requesting them to develop digital
storytelling since literature has claimed it to be influential in enhancing students’
reading comprehension and creativity
Developing reading comprehension through digital storytelling / Rofiza Aboo Bakar and Nur Farah Nizza Jaafar
Although Azzam was nineteen years old and a diploma student in a university, he found that comprehending expository texts in English was an obstacle. However, when offered the chance to create a digital story, Azzam became deeply engaged and he began reading more texts. He was able to create a digital story that required him to activate his background knowledge, search for additional reading materials, consider alternative interpretations, and become philosophical. In the paper, it is argued that digital storytelling is a means for Azzam to respond well to expository texts by using the cognitive, metacognitive and affective reading elements. Rosenblatt’s reader-response theory (1978) was embraced as the theoretical framework. Digital storytelling is believed to have the potential to play a significant role in helping students comprehend expository texts effectively
Coping Strategies employed by Muslim Academia during Covid-19: A narrative review
The global educational scenario has undergone a major transformation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to substantial conflict and disturbances in the process of imparting and acquiring knowledge. The scarcity of studies on Muslim academia’s coping mechanisms amidst the COVID-19 outbreak highlights the necessity to investigate their distinct encounters. Drawing on existing literature, this narrative review explores the Islamic-based coping strategies they employed. Educators, mental health practitioners, and other stakeholders may acknowledge the significance of these coping strategies and integrate them into mental health and educational programmes to aid the Muslim academia and alike amidst the pandemic and beyond
Redefining Online Reading Behaviour among Malaysian Young Adults
The reading trend among young adults has changed from reading printed materials to reading online. These led to significant changes in their reading habits, attitudes, and interests, This study was undertaken to investigate the online reading experiences of young adults in Malaysia.A mixed-method explanatory approach was adopted and data were analyzed using Drouilard's (2009) framework to identify their reading experiences. The results showed some critical implications such as factors identified as motivation to read intrinsically and types of reading materials. It is hoped that more research regarding the multidimensionality of reading among Malaysian young adults are conducted in the future.

This paper explains briefly about the parts of the human brain, brain-based learning theory, and offers suggestions on how that theory may be integrated with English language classes. The importance of emotion for an optimal learning is discussed. Applications of its roles based on ideas put forth by experts in this brain-based field and experiences of a few English teachers who exercised these ideas are also presented
